Margot Robbie’s last film from her production company, Birds of Prey, had no sense of taste in selection of production at all. Terrible script, director, cast, etc.. I also don’t think Greta Gerwig is the person to write/direct a Barbie film. Her Little Women movie was fucking dreadful. Maybe Diablo Cody for something like this? Paul walker would probably have been the ultimate Ken Doll but then it may have been too obvious and I imagine he would have played it too obviously. I guess they are using gosling because it seems more abstract and takes a bit more imagination to be believable. I’m sure this is designed for comedy aspects of the film.

Another good choice for a Ken type would have been Aaron Ekhart circa “in the company of men” he even had a the kind of chin I’d imagine a ken having.

I think it's obvious, except to the nastiest of the DL queens, that this isn't going to be some superficial story about Barbie and Ken. Greta Gerwig, who reworked the gazillionth adaptation of Little Women into something fresh and exciting is in charge. Margot Robbie is a very talented actress and Gosling has been fantastic a number of times (check out Drive, The Ides of March, Lars and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine, LaLa Land). He's empirically a handsome guy and I'm not a super-fan, just a casual admirer of his work.

Gosling has always reminded me of Shannen Doherty. Both have close set, and very uneven eyes. It's distracting to me to watch either of them for that reason. I read the script. They aren’t dumb. Barbie comes alive and looks for a way to make Ken alive too. Then she tries to live in the real world while getting jobs such as a teacher, nurse, astronaut, cowgirl, vet, and finally President of the US. It’s a cross between a more adult Toy Story and Manican.

I find both gosling and gyllenhaal rather boring these days. I went from being a fan with anticipation of what they were going to do as both seemed on the verge of making a big impression to just being left bored. I feel they both had promise but it never seems to have really materialised or sustained. Their films seem to be more about showing their leading man potential. In the case of gyllenhaal it seems someone is intent on making him appear Massi line and less the sensitive actor he started out as.
