Nitwit Gene Simmons lists Vegas home

A full five months after buying it. He left Cali because of taxes and bought a terrarium in Henderson. He just realized it gets hot in the desert and his kids didn't want to live there either. No word on where he's headed next.

Is this the one that was deemed dangerous for the grandkids?

by Anonymousreply 1October 22, 2021 4:22 PM

Ooh, I bet that glass house got good and toasty in the desert

by Anonymousreply 2October 22, 2021 4:29 PM

looks like a car dealership

by Anonymousreply 3October 22, 2021 4:47 PM

Henderson is an endless suburbia. 10 more years and there won't be any water left for Las Vegas.

by Anonymousreply 4October 22, 2021 4:49 PM

Looks like a failed 1970s shopping.

by Anonymousreply 5October 22, 2021 4:52 PM

House ? That’s a hotel ! How ghastly

by Anonymousreply 6October 22, 2021 4:57 PM

He's such a dunce, how did he get the kind of money you need to afford a place like this?

by Anonymousreply 7October 22, 2021 5:02 PM

[quote]No word on where he's headed next.

Hell hopefully.

by Anonymousreply 8October 22, 2021 5:04 PM

[quote] Is this the one that was deemed dangerous for the grandkids?

Can't you just see him pulling a cruise grandpa and dropping one of the little brats from an open window?

by Anonymousreply 9October 22, 2021 5:04 PM

@r7, Seriously? I hear he sold a few records

by Anonymousreply 10October 22, 2021 5:06 PM

Gene Simmons is a lot of things but "nitwit" or stupid isn't one of them. You are certainly entitled to be disgusted by him or to hate him but the guy is NOT stupid.

by Anonymousreply 11October 22, 2021 5:08 PM

R11 = Shannon Tweed

by Anonymousreply 12October 22, 2021 5:08 PM

He also accidentally snorted a few million dollars worth of pure uncut Colombian in his heyday, r10. I'm just saying he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would have this kind of net worth.

by Anonymousreply 13October 22, 2021 5:09 PM

^ Guess again...

"Gene Simmons Net Worth 2018

KISS has sold more than 100 million records, but it is Simmons' clever business savvy that led him to a net worth of $400 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.Sep 20, 2021"

by Anonymousreply 14October 22, 2021 5:12 PM

[quote]You are certainly entitled to be disgusted by him or to hate him but the guy is NOT stupid.

The dude once complained in an interview that if you go scuba diving you have to pay for air, which last time he checked, was free.

I've always been partial to this article about all the stupid things Simmons has tried to trademark that anyone with common sense would know could not actually BE trademarked.

Isn’t that an ex-Kmart?

by Anonymousreply 16October 23, 2021 12:26 AM

This valuation is based solely upon one investment - MD Strategies, whose value tanked in 2020. He's NOT worth that kind of money. He might have been at one time in the recent few years, but not anymore ...

by Anonymousreply 17October 23, 2021 12:52 AM

His Fresh Air interview made me carsick. He's so gross

by Anonymousreply 18October 23, 2021 12:54 AM

Serious capital gains tax is about to happen to this guy — he will easily lose 30% of that homes value.

by Anonymousreply 19October 23, 2021 12:59 AM

Oye old Hebrews are noted for their taste.

by Anonymousreply 20October 23, 2021 1:27 AM

Jews have a thing about deserts.

by Anonymousreply 21October 23, 2021 1:46 AM

R21 - Yeah, but what about that one time they were too cheap to buy a map?

by Anonymousreply 22October 23, 2021 1:51 AM

Gene Simmons and Ron Jeremy. Separated at birth.

by Anonymousreply 23October 23, 2021 1:59 AM

R11 don't bet aginst the house.

by Anonymousreply 24October 23, 2021 3:31 AM

Why would you live in Henderson though? Especially if you had enough money to live anywhere?

by Anonymousreply 25October 23, 2021 3:31 AM

I never liked this fucker. How much you want to bet he goes back to LA?

by Anonymousreply 26October 23, 2021 3:37 AM

Sure enough, after he bashed California less than a year ago and said the taxes were too high, he recently bought another home in Beverly Hills according to this article.

He’s such a smarmy piece of shit. Knew he would come crawling back.

Henderson has a wonderful chocolate store with an adjoining cactus garden. I recommend it.

by Anonymousreply 28October 23, 2021 7:08 AM

He wasn’t and alcohol or drug user. Women were his drug of choice.

Have you seen his sex tape? The woman kept turning her head when tried to kiss her and he left his black socks on too. A total hump and dump.

by Anonymousreply 29October 23, 2021 7:13 AM

Typical Repug, they all say they hate California, taxes, taxes, Liberals oh my! But then most are usually smart enough to realize it's paradise in other ways. Only the real stupid ones actually pull a Gene Simmons. I wish more would go.

1,000 dollar bet (Mit Romney style) after moving back to California, he will not say a thing about why he needed to move to such a "high tax Liberal state". Or why it's worth the money.

by Anonymousreply 30October 23, 2021 7:23 AM

LMFAO I bet he lost his shirt on that deal. What people who move to Vegas don't realize is that housing is very cheap, you can like like a king roasting in a dry hot oven. But if you decided it's not for you, no one wants to buy your house. There's so much constant new construction, the houses do not appreciate in value like they do in other high demand locations like CA.

by Anonymousreply 31October 23, 2021 7:26 AM

How do you pay that much for a house...in NV?

by Anonymousreply 32October 23, 2021 7:35 AM

He's a sleaze, but he really made bank over the years. Kiss had a huge following, many very devoted fans too. They sold a lot of records are were very successful touring artists for decades. Plus he licences out the Kiss name, logo, songs like crazy and made a lot of money from that too. Even if he takes a big loss on this home, he's not going to be hurting for money anytime soon.

by Anonymousreply 33October 23, 2021 7:43 AM

He's not that smart just because he made a lot of money. His people are smart who told him what to do. It's not rocket science to figure out Vegas is not for most people full time. And all the taxes he thought he was going to save have now gone down the toilet living out this this Repug talking point. Oh well, he has a lot more to blow I guess.

When you are rich you have the luxury to make really stupid mistakes and whine about taxes like you just lost a child.

by Anonymousreply 34October 23, 2021 7:53 AM

They aren’t his only homes. They’ve liked and lived in Whistler since their tv show.

by Anonymousreply 35October 23, 2021 8:08 AM

I bet he's hoping some idiot fan will buy it for the asking price.

by Anonymousreply 36October 23, 2021 8:13 AM

What a hideous house, its actually almost aggressively ugly. The furniture its staged with is a good match though, and the first pic in the listing shows that it is surrounded by other equally ugly houses in an ugly suburb. Never mind the heat, the relentless ugliness is what would put me off

Car dealerships, hotels, failed 70's shopping centres and ex-Kmarts are usually more attractive than this.

Ol' Prince Charlie had a great word for places like this- carbuncles. Totally fits

by Anonymousreply 38October 23, 2021 8:46 AM

OMG that photographer made bank taking those 360 photos. I'v played around with that stuff and usually you do one shot per room. That guy took a shot like every 3 feet. There's hundreds of landing points.

by Anonymousreply 39October 23, 2021 8:46 AM

Why is there a live Koi pond in the front entry? 120F cant be good for them. Those things are going to slowly cook in their own juices.

by Anonymousreply 40October 23, 2021 8:51 AM

"What a hideous house, its actually almost aggressively ugly."

All the warmth and charm of a convention center.

by Anonymousreply 41October 23, 2021 9:00 AM

Mirrors over the bed? Really? 1980's called they want their cheap porn set back.

by Anonymousreply 42October 23, 2021 9:15 AM

Seriously, I can't understand why anyone wants to live in a house that big except to say "look how big my house is".

by Anonymousreply 43October 23, 2021 9:17 AM

Whats with all the river rock troughs on the second floor? The black rocks match nothing and you literally have 3 story rock retaining wall out the window.

by Anonymousreply 44October 23, 2021 9:23 AM

Anyone else notice the Tom Ford book on the coffee table? Gene doesn't strike me as a Tom Ford kind of guy...

I'm a huge Kiss fan, even though I don't agree with his political views in most cases. I don't mind the house itself, I like the open layout. But the interior needs a complete overhaul. Not only does it look super tacky in terms of colors, it looks super cheap in terms of finishes on, well, everything - from flooring, to cabinets, to countertops. It all looks like cheap laminate shit.

by Anonymousreply 45October 23, 2021 9:25 AM

I know 3 people that have a house roughly that size, little smaller but still vastly over built. The reality is unless you have a family of 20 living there, it very off putting for two people. They basically live in one wing or room of the house. When the monthly bills come they suddenly realize it cost a lot of money to heat every room when no one ever uses it. Occasionally when they have a party they turn everything on but once the people leave it's back to the cave. It's kind of strange visiting them.

by Anonymousreply 46October 23, 2021 9:28 AM

R30, it probably cost more to air condition that place than what he was paying for taxes in Cali.

by Anonymousreply 47October 23, 2021 9:28 AM

I cannot consider anyone smart who makes such a big deal out of leaving CA because of taxes and then spend money on a lemon like this.

The same goes with fiscal conservatives like Kelsey Grammar, who complain about taxes, but marry any floozy that looks his way and lose a ton of money in the divorce settlement.

by Anonymousreply 48October 23, 2021 9:46 AM

The only good thing Gene Simmons ever did musically was convince his then girlfriend Liza Minnelli to record Results when Pet Shop boys approached her about producing an album for her.

He has a wife you know. He pays $10.8 million in May and expects $14.95 six months later?

by Anonymousreply 50October 23, 2021 4:14 PM

I know of something very kind his wife Shannon did and will always have a high amount of respect for her and feel bad she has had to deal with Gene's philandering.

by Anonymousreply 51October 23, 2021 4:21 PM

Shannon does seem pretty nice and very refreshingly honest for someone in the entertainment industry. She has bad taste in men though. She was with Hugh Hefner before Gene and its pretty well known he always had sex with many of the Playboy Playmates and models.

by Anonymousreply 52October 23, 2021 4:29 PM

R50, especially when he badmouthed how hot the house and Vegas is.

by Anonymousreply 53October 23, 2021 4:31 PM

[quote]Jews have a thing about deserts.

G-D is the one with a thing about deserts. You don't know. Maybe He ordered Gene to lead his people into Henderson for five months.

by Anonymousreply 54October 23, 2021 4:44 PM

[quote]When the monthly bills come they suddenly realize it cost a lot of money to heat every room when no one ever uses it. Occasionally when they have a party they turn everything on but once the people leave it's back to the cave.

Exactly. It's like living in an abandoned hotel. Unless you're throwing parties every week (and I suppose some people do), it doesn't make sense.

Of course *heating* a house like that isn't the problem. It's keeping it cool. I have a friend who has a similar style house in Summerlin, the nicer suburb NW of the Strip. His place is maybe an eight the size of Simmons's monstrosity and his air conditioning bill in the summer months is roughly half our national debt. I can't even imagine what Simmons was paying.

by Anonymousreply 55October 23, 2021 4:45 PM

R55, winters are VERY cold in Henderson and with all that glass, it would probably cost a lot to heat the place. If you're talking about 40-50 degrees in the winter and 110 in the summer, that's a lot of money. Hard to get a handle on the ownership because the article says it was finished in 2016 but no mention if it was done on spec or if it had a billionaire owner sitting on it til Simmons bought it,

That screening room looks like the wallpaper job Lucy and Ethel did on her bedroom.

by Anonymousreply 56October 23, 2021 4:55 PM

R46 Tell that to the Kardashian Jenners! Everyone in that family has their very own palace, & those houses are huge and expensive.

Kris gave Rob her house that they filmed the show in. But then again, they have about $2.7 billion dollars between all of them, so they can more than afford their mega Mansions.

by Anonymousreply 57October 23, 2021 5:37 PM

Zillow's estimate for it is $9 million. He paid 10 and is asking 15.

by Anonymousreply 58October 23, 2021 5:48 PM

It's a nice house on an awful plot.

by Anonymousreply 59October 23, 2021 6:09 PM

R43 The house is positively miniature compared to the Kardashian Kompounds. It's really not that big. Most of the house in the foyer/living room, which is good for entertaining if you're an extroverted celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 60October 23, 2021 6:13 PM

A little desert landscaping might make the outside a bit more attractive, but I don't think there's much that can be done with the exterior. It seems to be on a very small lot, with just the pool and a scrap of unnaturally green lawn around the house, and it looks like the whole neighborhood is made up of anti-landslide bulwarks.

All those heavy, ugly stone walls between lots makes me think that nature intends the whole neighborhood to slide into the valley below, during a monsoon rain.
