I get sick of the "Tasteful Friends" threads asking me to look at real estate
There are far, far, far too many of them.
Some of them want me to look at ridiculous interiors to laugh, but some of them are serious and want me to evaluate nice interiors. But most of them are in cities I will never live in and so I just do not care about.
I block them all now, because whoever are the people here who are so obsessed with real estate completely overdo it.
(Thanks, I've been waiting to post that for a long time.)

I know, I wish we had more rate this coinslot posts.

I agree op. There should just be an all purpose Tasteful Friends thread instead of a new one for every goddamn real estate listing.

Although OP is a whiny cunt, R2 has a very good suggestion.

OP - the threads are another opportunity for people with OCD to exercise their need to obsess. That is all. If you block each category of OCD threads on DL, you will have few topics/categories left. OCD is way out of control in this board.

Someone please point out the scroll bar to OP.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 21, 2021 11:23 PM

You are lucky OP, about 90% of the threads people start on DL don't interest me in the least, but I never thought about starting a thread complaining about them, I just keep looking until I find something that does interest me. You should try it.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 21, 2021 11:24 PM

Some of us enjoy them OP. Not because we're necessarily in the market to buy.

I love the Tasteful Friends threads and I think it’s nice to have some shorter threads. Not every thread needs to last until it crashes.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 21, 2021 11:29 PM

I hear you OP. I wish Datalounge would no longer insist on you reading all threads. That's quite a burden.

Getting an internet signal to the trailer park is already pricey, and seeing homes equivalent to 4 double wides smushed together is belittling.

I hate those threads too, but seeing them is a welcome respite from seeing the threads started by the loons who are still completely obsessed with Trump (e.g. “Has anyone ever compared the weights of Trump supporters to other citizens?”)

I don't mind the separate threads for the tacky houses, but I mind all the threads for normal houses
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 22, 2021 12:18 AM

I thought there were understood, unwritten criteria. Such as the house should be currently for SALE. Apparently some are so desperate for attention and hits they will post anything.
Here's something to ponder. I bet in one of these houses, the long lost GAP PLAYLISTS and complete master recordings are rotting in a back room. So meta OCD tragedy.

This problem could be solved if they ever brought back the IGNORE THREAD function, which has been dead for many years.

I don't care about interior design or real estate, but I love the tasteful friends threads! You never know what it's going to be about! They are always fun and if you don't like them scroll on by. Or gouge your eyes out.

Posting one is not, r36. As you well know.
Posting many a day is. As you also well know.

OP get over yourself, there are plenty of topics on DL that don't interest me but I know the world doesn't revolve around me. While I don't care for those topics I figure it must give the people who post on them joy.and why would I be against joy? More importantly why would you?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 13, 2022 3:05 AM

OP, feel free to ignore them, sheesh. I’ve never opened one, but I treat them like threads about Broadway shows and soap operas (which I also avoid).
Don’t be such a fucking buzzkill.

It's like a history of American Architecture, from the big city Civil War era town homes to the Prairie styles and all in between. I enjoy them, especially the horror stories where people have all the bad taste money can buy.
OP, does your nanny force you to hit the links?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 13, 2022 12:23 PM

They've become the equivalent of spam on this site. It's a pain in the ass to have to keep scrolling past hundreds of these threads daily. They're just as bad as as the glut of BRF threads, Gap store playlist threads, obsessive compulsive fangirl threads, etc.
It would be one thing to start A thread and share multiple properties on it, but we don't need several thousand separate threads about each one.
It's poor forum etiquette, period. Most other forum would ban or block users for doing that.
OP is right to complain here.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 13, 2022 12:57 PM

I occasionally look at them but usually scroll on by. It’s a pale comparison to McMansion Hell which has peaked now as well. Agree that housing is such a local thing that so much context is place specific.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 13, 2022 1:08 PM

I love them. They're much better than the threads celebrating the latest 'hot' porn star if you ask me. Maybe 'Tasteful Friends' can be expanded to include travel destinations, food & restaurants, and clothes. What do you think OP?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 13, 2022 1:16 PM

It's irritating just to see them even if you scroll past them. To know such people exist who would post them and then others who would look at them makes me annoyed at the world.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 13, 2022 2:26 PM

R47, were forced to see them and scroll past hundreds of them in the forum feed BUFFOON because OCD DIPSHITS like you keep flooding the site with them. It's whiny cunts like you that are getting your panties all in a bunch when someone gives a legit criticism of your obnoxious posting habits on here. Chill out snowflakes.

OP- Would you prefer if someone were to start threads and call it TASTELESS Friends and post houses in tacky parts of Staten Island and Yonkers?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 13, 2022 2:49 PM

We could do a "Let's be Tasteful Friends Looking at Real Estate" thread.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 13, 2022 2:51 PM

Many of us would like to discuss other topics on here without getting drowned out by all your god damned real estate listings. Go to Zillow or some shit if that is your obsession.

I think the bigger problem is that there are no subject categories on DL any longer.
Instead of one long, endless list of threads to wade through, people used to be able to pick and choose what subjects they wanted to explore, or avoid altogether.
It's been awhile, so I can't remember all of the categories, but there was probably one where something like the "Tasteful Friends" posts could be looked at ... or not.

I like the threads because they are a good mix of snotty comments, informed opinions, and everything in between. You don't have to be an expert to throw in your two cents. In fact, that pretty much describes why I like Datalounge.
