Tasteful friends: What do you think of this finca in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
We're moving back to Europe from the USA. We'll stay with my family in Jerez until we get settled.
What do you think of this property? We're bringing our two horses so we require a finca.
This property is a bit primative, but I think it has a bit of charm and we can make improvements over time.
I like that one can see the horses from the house. Pool is nice.

I don't know your circumstances or your lifestyle, but if you think rural Spain is the answer then that's your decision

It's not rural. It's in Jerez. Sevilla is close. Cadiz, the beach, etc. I have a huge family here..

^ Ok, having family there makes a difference, but it still looks pretty rural

Are you sure you’ll be able to get your favorite brand of toilet paper there? Are the store shelves absolutely brimming with products?
What is the price of gay and alfalfa? How much is the flight for the horses going to cost? For two?
I can imagine with all of your cash it doesn’t matter…

You guys don't know Spain if you think Jerez is rural.

I'd have to see inside the stalls and tack-room before I could even begin to comment.

Good gawd, you don't have those Andalusian horses that are forced to do tricks do you? Its right up there with rodeo as far as cruelty to animals go.

We usually do it but we have help as well. But our horses are usually in pasture. The barn is available to them always so they decide.
U think I'm going to ask my cousin to look at this place and take photos.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 21, 2021 9:13 PM

It looks kind of basic if you ask me but it's not terrible. The area is great.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 21, 2021 9:16 PM

OP, what would the property taxes/equivalent be on a place like that?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 21, 2021 9:18 PM

It has what appears to be good fencing which is important. Fencing costs a fortune on large properties.

The grass looks kinda worked over and sparse in the pasture, you'll need to keep the hay coming; just sayin...

Yes, my cousin has a finca and many horses. He has the hay connection for us. I've ridden with him in the ferris. It's fantastic.

I'm worried about the horses getting colic from the change in water. Is there a good local veterinarian available at a moments notice?

It seems that you are counting on your cousin to do a lot. What's going to happen when you find out that he and your bf have been shacking up in the stables because your bf is so bored living in the boondocks? Oh it's Europe and in the movies Europeans aren't bothered by such things.

Google Feria de Jerez. If you ride you have to do it.

R29. You know I have wondered about this because this cousin is gay and a Flanenci dancer who h najes him hot.

R22. Jerez is the horse center of Spain. Everything and mire a horse needs is here. The Spanish Riding School is here.
Our horses are not shod but we don't do then on hard surfaces.

Well smell, OP. Who moves with horses! Keep them in your stables in Saratoga or Virginia or Kentucky, or on your Estancia. My dear I've heard some keep them in Qatar with the Arabs.

It's interesting, for sure. It looks like they invite the horses in to dine what with that trough in the living room and bowls of fresh fruit all around.
It is definitely a great fit for an outdoorsy horse person. If it were mine there are a lot of changes I'd make, but it will never be mine. My dreams lie elsewhere.

It has very good bones. Love the beamed ceilings. Paint colours are terrible but when repainted would make a huge difference. Someone upthread mentioned that there are a lot of tiles, and while I'm not a fan of the style, tiles make sense given the hot climate. The fenced in patio can also be used as a catio!

Ha! My neighbors at the front have a 20 yo yard horse. They cover the back deck railing with a blanket or something to keep the horse from poking her head on the deck.

On the way home we drove through McDonalds and our total came to $13.13 We laughed our asses off
Happy Birthday to me in 2 hours. Jaja.

I like it. I grew up with horses on rural properties, all with well water and it was the best water I've ever tasted. I also see they have a pretty well established garden plot with possibly vineyards. I actually like the kitchen and think it's kind of quaint.

I don't know about the exact location of thus finca. The pub says it's near the airport, but quiet, and close to town. I like that but we'll see.
I think the property looks run down even in these photos. And what's that tall tower out in oasture? The agricultural storage area looks iffy. No matter. If everything else is OK we can use the negative points to knock down the price
