Tasteful friends: What do you think of this finca in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

We're moving back to Europe from the USA. We'll stay with my family in Jerez until we get settled.

What do you think of this property? We're bringing our two horses so we require a finca.

This property is a bit primative, but I think it has a bit of charm and we can make improvements over time.

I like that one can see the horses from the house. Pool is nice.

I don't know your circumstances or your lifestyle, but if you think rural Spain is the answer then that's your decision

by Anonymousreply 1October 21, 2021 7:18 PM

It's not rural. It's in Jerez. Sevilla is close. Cadiz, the beach, etc. I have a huge family here..

by Anonymousreply 2October 21, 2021 7:36 PM

^ Ok, having family there makes a difference, but it still looks pretty rural

by Anonymousreply 3October 21, 2021 8:22 PM

Are you sure you’ll be able to get your favorite brand of toilet paper there? Are the store shelves absolutely brimming with products?

What is the price of gay and alfalfa? How much is the flight for the horses going to cost? For two?

I can imagine with all of your cash it doesn’t matter…

by Anonymousreply 4October 21, 2021 8:38 PM

¿Como se dice ‘humblebrag’ en castellano?

by Anonymousreply 5October 21, 2021 8:48 PM

That’s a lot of tile flooring.

by Anonymousreply 6October 21, 2021 9:25 PM

How is this bragging g? If you love your animals you cope. No more expensive than furniture to transport

You guys don't know Spain if you think Jerez is rural.

by Anonymousreply 7October 21, 2021 9:34 PM

Are you Hilaria?

by Anonymousreply 8October 21, 2021 9:58 PM

I'd have to see inside the stalls and tack-room before I could even begin to comment.

by Anonymousreply 9October 21, 2021 10:02 PM

Do you muck-out and feed yourself or will you have a stable-boy?

by Anonymousreply 10October 21, 2021 10:04 PM

Good gawd, you don't have those Andalusian horses that are forced to do tricks do you? Its right up there with rodeo as far as cruelty to animals go.

by Anonymousreply 11October 21, 2021 10:11 PM

We usually do it but we have help as well. But our horses are usually in pasture. The barn is available to them always so they decide.

U think I'm going to ask my cousin to look at this place and take photos.

by Anonymousreply 12October 21, 2021 10:13 PM

It looks kind of basic if you ask me but it's not terrible. The area is great.

by Anonymousreply 13October 21, 2021 10:16 PM

OP, what would the property taxes/equivalent be on a place like that?

by Anonymousreply 14October 21, 2021 10:18 PM

It has what appears to be good fencing which is important. Fencing costs a fortune on large properties.

by Anonymousreply 15October 21, 2021 10:18 PM

The grass looks kinda worked over and sparse in the pasture, you'll need to keep the hay coming; just sayin...

by Anonymousreply 16October 21, 2021 10:23 PM

Yes, my cousin has a finca and many horses. He has the hay connection for us. I've ridden with him in the ferris. It's fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 17October 21, 2021 10:30 PM

[quote]I've ridden with him in the ferris.

What's a ferris?

by Anonymousreply 18October 21, 2021 10:36 PM

My error. FERIA I'm in Energency at the moment. Feel like shit. Making errors

by Anonymousreply 19October 21, 2021 10:41 PM

[quote] Water is via the town supply (without Chlorine) and well water. The non chlorinated water could be made potable with the addition of a chlorine pump.

Stock up on Pepto-Bismol because you will have constant diarrhea.

by Anonymousreply 20October 21, 2021 10:45 PM

House and pool look fine. Surrounding countryside just looks hot and boring. Buena suerte!

by Anonymousreply 21October 21, 2021 10:50 PM

I'm worried about the horses getting colic from the change in water. Is there a good local veterinarian available at a moments notice?

by Anonymousreply 22October 21, 2021 10:51 PM

That lighthouse lamp (?) I guess is a conversation starter?

by Anonymousreply 23October 21, 2021 10:54 PM

We have well water here, too. No big deal. My cousin will check this out.

by Anonymousreply 24October 21, 2021 10:55 PM

What about a farrier? Or are your horses barefoot.

by Anonymousreply 25October 21, 2021 10:56 PM

I can't make out the 2 residences from these photos. Can you?

by Anonymousreply 26October 21, 2021 10:57 PM

Oh course you have a large family, you Catholic!

by Anonymousreply 27October 21, 2021 10:59 PM

Yeah, many aunts, uncles, cousins. It's great.

by Anonymousreply 28October 21, 2021 11:06 PM

It seems that you are counting on your cousin to do a lot. What's going to happen when you find out that he and your bf have been shacking up in the stables because your bf is so bored living in the boondocks? Oh it's Europe and in the movies Europeans aren't bothered by such things.

by Anonymousreply 29October 21, 2021 11:07 PM

Google Feria de Jerez. If you ride you have to do it.

by Anonymousreply 30October 21, 2021 11:08 PM

How tf is this the boondocks if it's near the airport and Jerez city?

Damn so many people in Energency today. Fuck ne.

by Anonymousreply 31October 21, 2021 11:11 PM

R29. You know I have wondered about this because this cousin is gay and a Flanenci dancer who h najes him hot.

by Anonymousreply 32October 21, 2021 11:16 PM

R22. Jerez is the horse center of Spain. Everything and mire a horse needs is here. The Spanish Riding School is here.

Our horses are not shod but we don't do then on hard surfaces.

by Anonymousreply 33October 21, 2021 11:21 PM

Ride then.

by Anonymousreply 34October 21, 2021 11:24 PM

Well smell, OP. Who moves with horses! Keep them in your stables in Saratoga or Virginia or Kentucky, or on your Estancia. My dear I've heard some keep them in Qatar with the Arabs.

by Anonymousreply 35October 21, 2021 11:24 PM

Many people move with horses. There are air raft just for this purpose. The polo ponies fly round the world.

by Anonymousreply 36October 21, 2021 11:29 PM

Is "finca' Spanish for redneck farm?

by Anonymousreply 37October 21, 2021 11:33 PM

It's interesting, for sure. It looks like they invite the horses in to dine what with that trough in the living room and bowls of fresh fruit all around.

It is definitely a great fit for an outdoorsy horse person. If it were mine there are a lot of changes I'd make, but it will never be mine. My dreams lie elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 38October 21, 2021 11:38 PM

[quote]What is the price of gay

You'll have to check rentmen.com for that.

by Anonymousreply 39October 21, 2021 11:50 PM

The pool looks like the pool in a lot of porno scenes

by Anonymousreply 40October 22, 2021 12:01 AM

It has very good bones. Love the beamed ceilings. Paint colours are terrible but when repainted would make a huge difference. Someone upthread mentioned that there are a lot of tiles, and while I'm not a fan of the style, tiles make sense given the hot climate. The fenced in patio can also be used as a catio!

by Anonymousreply 41October 22, 2021 12:08 AM

The holding cell is a nice touch.

by Anonymousreply 42October 22, 2021 12:21 AM

R31 - I hope you’re okay, OP!

I like the property. It’s cute, and looks great for the horses.

by Anonymousreply 43October 22, 2021 12:24 AM

Ha! My neighbors at the front have a 20 yo yard horse. They cover the back deck railing with a blanket or something to keep the horse from poking her head on the deck.

by Anonymousreply 44October 22, 2021 12:42 AM

R19, you in danger girl?

by Anonymousreply 45October 22, 2021 1:06 AM

OP has $30,000 to fly his horses to Spain but can’t take a loss on his rural mini-farm south of Denver…

by Anonymousreply 46October 22, 2021 2:44 AM

OP- I wouldn't move to Spain so quick. They are in BIG trouble for the winter because of a lack of sufficient energy supplies.

by Anonymousreply 47October 22, 2021 3:04 AM

Hi guys. Just back from 11 hours in Emergency. I'm told it looks like I have testicular cancer but I need more tests and a biopsy. My primary care doctor has been treating my swollen nutsac 4 months for what he called an infection from going commando in tight jeans idiota

On the way home we drove through McDonalds and our total came to $13.13 We laughed our asses off

Happy Birthday to me in 2 hours. Jaja.

I hope I make it home to my finca in beautiful Andalucia

The windows all have bars.

by Anonymousreply 49October 22, 2021 6:11 AM

Sorry OP. That’s not good.

by Anonymousreply 50October 22, 2021 6:57 AM

I like it. I grew up with horses on rural properties, all with well water and it was the best water I've ever tasted. I also see they have a pretty well established garden plot with possibly vineyards. I actually like the kitchen and think it's kind of quaint.

by Anonymousreply 51October 22, 2021 7:31 AM

is this a nice area? Need to upgrade outdoor kitchen. I am not a fan of brick. Love the horse and the pool.

by Anonymousreply 52October 22, 2021 7:51 AM

I don't know about the exact location of thus finca. The pub says it's near the airport, but quiet, and close to town. I like that but we'll see.

I think the property looks run down even in these photos. And what's that tall tower out in oasture? The agricultural storage area looks iffy. No matter. If everything else is OK we can use the negative points to knock down the price

by Anonymousreply 53October 22, 2021 3:30 PM

Well, I haaate the yellow. Yellow + brown everywhere, ugh.

by Anonymousreply 54October 22, 2021 4:16 PM

Next door to airport! Quiet as a nunnery! Perfect for old, deaf troll!

by Anonymousreply 55October 22, 2021 6:26 PM

Our property in Palm Springs is near the airport but we get no noise because of the flight plan.

by Anonymousreply 56October 22, 2021 9:49 PM

R54. Ever heard of paint?

by Anonymousreply 57October 22, 2021 9:50 PM

Finca stinka

by Anonymousreply 58October 22, 2021 9:52 PM

Here's a satellite map of the area. Scroll down at link. I actually like this place is near the airport Easy hop to Madrid which is like flying from SF to LA and much less expensive
