He really embraced the character of Elio.

I like them both in this movie but I felt like Armie held back. He was a bit too cautious, unlike Timmy who really threw himself into the role and was totally believable. I know it's popular on DL to bash Timmy but I think he's an excellent actor.

I finally got around to watching it. I enjoyed it more than I expected. Timmy gave a great performance. Armie looked too old. Armie's best starring role was with DL favorite Henry Cavill in The Man from UNCLE. That was a more believable coupling.
