My aunt just died of complications from fibromyalgia

We thought it was well managed through her holistic medication and supervision by her naturopaths and chiropractor. However last summer she contracted morgellons and that appears to have been the final straw. Even acupuncture couldn’t give her relief. Does this run in families, should I be tested?

by Anonymousreply 148December 7, 2021 11:24 AM

She probably really died of heartbreak over Mitchfest being canceled.

by Anonymousreply 1October 17, 2021 1:05 PM

Who will cradle her mugs now?

by Anonymousreply 2October 17, 2021 1:24 PM

OP, before we can judge whether you're at urgent risk we'll need to know how much time you spend at craft stores.

by Anonymousreply 3October 17, 2021 1:27 PM

Have you been tested for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome yet OP? That is usually how it starts.

by Anonymousreply 4October 17, 2021 1:32 PM

Well I did have a lyme’s scare a few years ago, would that put me at higher risk?

by Anonymousreply 5October 17, 2021 1:38 PM

OP If you have any concerns about your own health please go to your doctor and get checked out.

by Anonymousreply 6October 17, 2021 1:39 PM

or alternately the kindly old crone who lives in the trash house out by the viaduct. She has really good energy and is a natural healer.

by Anonymousreply 7October 17, 2021 1:42 PM

0/`10

by Anonymousreply 8October 17, 2021 1:43 PM

You don't need to be tested, but you should reflect on what makes you so desperate for attention to make up stupid threads?

by Anonymousreply 9October 17, 2021 1:44 PM

Well crystals seem to be keeping me healthy through Covid at least

by Anonymousreply 10October 17, 2021 1:45 PM

Same here, R10!

[quote]She has really good energy and is a natural healer.

Oh, yeah. She’s got the good chakra!

by Anonymousreply 12October 17, 2021 2:47 PM

Although she’s never travelled outside her home state, she was also afflicted with Havana Syndrome.

by Anonymousreply 13October 17, 2021 2:50 PM

What is that? She likes bananas?

by Anonymousreply 14October 17, 2021 2:58 PM

I actually made her go to get her chakras checked for blockages prior to her morgellons diagnosis, so you can I imagine this all hit me like a ton of bricks.

by Anonymousreply 15October 17, 2021 2:58 PM

Two words OP: Essential oils

by Anonymousreply 16October 17, 2021 3:01 PM

Has she tried an all pulse diet? Eating only legumes did wonders for my lesbian friend.

by Anonymousreply 17October 17, 2021 3:03 PM

Definitely see a mental health professional ASAP, OP

by Anonymousreply 18October 17, 2021 3:06 PM

If she was a lesbian, she wasn’t eating only legumes, I’ll tell ya that.

Nah’m mean?

by Anonymousreply 19October 17, 2021 3:06 PM

Yes, OP, mental illness does sometimes seem to have a genetic component and "run in families."

by Anonymousreply 20October 17, 2021 3:07 PM

R117, she’s dead. But thanks. I believe she had cut out anything in the deadly nightshade family and was on pulses and legumes. There was also talk of urophagia but I didn’t press for more details on that one. I tried to get her to consider cutting edge treatment in Germany as a final straw but I think she was fed up by that point.

by Anonymousreply 21October 17, 2021 3:07 PM

R20 and that’s another thing an actual doctor could help pinpoint.

by Anonymousreply 22October 17, 2021 3:10 PM

Herbalife could have saved her OP, you should be charged with negligence.

by Anonymousreply 23October 17, 2021 3:10 PM

Besides crystals, also buy essential oils, OP

I just happen to sell an array of them from my home.

by Anonymousreply 24October 17, 2021 3:11 PM

This stuff never happens in shithole India or China, and I wonder why.

by Anonymousreply 25October 17, 2021 3:14 PM

R19, she did have a girlfriend who lived with her and the three cats in a small studio. I'm not sure how the all legume diet went over with the girlfriend.

I'm not sure but I think she had a lot of allergies and Beano was one of them.

by Anonymousreply 26October 17, 2021 3:15 PM

[quote] Herbalife could have saved her OP, you should be charged with negligence.

Wait, was OP his aunt’s caretaker?

Oooooooh, now it’s getting juicy! Give us the tea!

by Anonymousreply 27October 17, 2021 3:17 PM

The fibromyalgia lobby is coming for you bitches

by Anonymousreply 28October 17, 2021 3:19 PM

It was all that gluten she ate, big pig aunt.

by Anonymousreply 29October 17, 2021 3:19 PM

OP, for how long was she tender to the touch before she…you know, ahem, [whispers] passed?

by Anonymousreply 30October 17, 2021 3:22 PM

Actually she was gluten-free. I was not her caregiver but As any caring nephew I did try to help where I could with details of practitioners I thought could help her. I’m happy she’s at peace now, but I am concerned, understandably, for my own health and well-being. All this stress has inconvenienced me and I’m not certain my own chakras haven’t been effected by this event

by Anonymousreply 31October 17, 2021 3:23 PM

I tried to tell her, but she wouldn't listen.

by Anonymousreply 32October 17, 2021 3:35 PM

Thoughts and prayers!

by Anonymousreply 33October 17, 2021 3:35 PM

I am sure her local Wiccan circle was a comfort to her at the end.

Blessed be.

by Anonymousreply 34October 17, 2021 3:39 PM

OP, it wasn't fibromyalgia. That's a common misdiagnosis when in fact it was poor feng shui. Your aunt clearly never sought the right practitioner... and it's your fault. You should have stepped in before it was too late. I have alerted the Board of Physiognomy and you should expect a visit momentarily.

by Anonymousreply 35October 17, 2021 3:57 PM

And before anyone asks, oil pulling was also ineffectual in relieving the fibro.

by Anonymousreply 36October 17, 2021 3:58 PM

This sounds like a pain we cannot imagine. Maybe scrapbook your way through your grief?

by Anonymousreply 37October 17, 2021 4:03 PM

Op - Depending on how long ago she passed, it might not be too late to resurrect her spirit and bodily vessel. Contact Miss Cleo ASAP! It sounds like a case of very bad JUJU! Karma came to kick her butt, but you can overcome that with incense and chanting. Do hurry, Op; time is of the essence!

by Anonymousreply 38October 17, 2021 4:28 PM

Where will the cats go? They must be just dumbstruck.

by Anonymousreply 39October 17, 2021 4:32 PM

I've been afflicted with this for years now. The hardest part is knowing that no matter who I deal with in the medical community, they will not know as much about this disease as I do.

by Anonymousreply 40October 17, 2021 4:34 PM

If only your aunt hadn't skipped all of her cupping appointments and sprung for the organic Basmati rice over the toxic "conventionally" grown pesticide-laden "rice" if they can even call it that!

by Anonymousreply 41October 17, 2021 4:57 PM

R41 Don’t be ridiculous, cupping is pseudoscience.

by Anonymousreply 42October 17, 2021 5:01 PM

OP, I'm not well versed in Estate Planning; did your dear aunt have the foresight to leave you her "spoons"? I mean, can that even be done?

by Anonymousreply 43October 17, 2021 5:12 PM

That reminds me how comforted I am to know she is no longer going to need “more spoons” to cope with her day to day life. She never seemed to have enough particularly at the end with the morgellons and leaky gut.

by Anonymousreply 44October 17, 2021 5:42 PM

Now that she's in rigor mortis, she is no longer tender to the touch.

Which means Death has cured her of that symptom.

by Anonymousreply 45October 17, 2021 5:46 PM

OP, you’ll be fine. You just have to keep wearing those copper socks. Eventually the healing will take effect.

by Anonymousreply 46October 17, 2021 5:56 PM

Was she at least a level five Laser Lotus? Were you able to capture her life vapors in an Energon pod so she can be restored to life once the tech is ready?

by Anonymousreply 47October 17, 2021 5:56 PM

Who gets her Subaru, OP?

by Anonymousreply 48October 17, 2021 5:58 PM

Sending strength and light for her post mortal journey. Your only prayer of not succumbing to this dreadful yet wrongfully scrutinized DISEASE, is to drink your own urine every morning. Drink it all down you fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 49October 17, 2021 6:16 PM

So she had dementia?

by Anonymousreply 50October 17, 2021 6:16 PM

R46 it’s just so hard. Nobody prepares the family of the sufferer. This disease impacts more than just the sufferer. My life has been inconvenienced by this and I’m still suffering emotional issues that have manifested in a case of dry eye which my homeopath is currently treating.

by Anonymousreply 51October 17, 2021 6:22 PM

May we all intuitively lead ourselves to self-healing, and to recognize our own perfection within this plane.

by Anonymousreply 52October 17, 2021 6:23 PM

OP, you poor thing.

by Anonymousreply 53October 17, 2021 6:24 PM

Please see my website.

And a hefty amount of white guilt for you to think upon so you might do better.

by Anonymousreply 67October 17, 2021 10:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 70October 17, 2021 11:38 PM

I have it on good authority that Doterrra essential oil’s and Herbalife cure the following:

Cancer HIV Heart disease Diabetes COVID Fibromyalgia

You failed her OP and I cannot forgive you.

I pray her doggies and kitties are well taken care of with proper macrobiotic diets and homeopathic remedies for the rest of their lives.

by Anonymousreply 71October 18, 2021 3:32 PM

OP, as am Empath, I feel your pain deeply. Do let me know if you want to try some astral projection to help with your grief.

by Anonymousreply 74October 18, 2021 3:45 PM

She probably died because of all the quack "doctors" she was going to.

by Anonymousreply 75October 18, 2021 3:48 PM

OP, please, please, please get someone to take photos documenting the placement of all the crystals in her home. It's quite possible someone replaced her bloodstones with clear quartz. If that's the case, you need to file a police report so her death can eventually be classified as negligent homicide.

by Anonymousreply 76October 18, 2021 3:52 PM

My niece says she has fibromyalgia, POTS, and Ehlers-Danolos Syndrome. She's in Lens Dunham territory.

by Anonymousreply 77October 18, 2021 3:57 PM

thank you all so much. You’ll be pleased to know that my chakras are in the process of realignment since my session with my doctor this morning so I am on the road to my own personal recovery.

I think it’s shocking what little in the way of research seems to be being done. With people living longer lives it seems this will become the new normal for many people. I think my aunts case highlights the gaps in the medicine, not to mention the costs to be seen by these specialists, her herbalist bills alone are something I’ll be paying off for years to come.

by Anonymousreply 78October 18, 2021 4:21 PM

Why are people saying "doggies and kitties"? Didn't she call them her "fur babies"?

by Anonymousreply 79October 18, 2021 4:26 PM

My apologies R79 I was so upset when I posted earlier that I incorrectly referred to them as doggies and kitties, I even got myself an oh dear.

This post is just flaring up my fibro and I can’t breath!

by Anonymousreply 80October 18, 2021 4:40 PM

All jokes aside, DataLounge has forever tarnished my ability to take Fibromyalgia seriously. By all accounts, it's now compared a real disease as to when DL started joking about it in the 2000's (I used to crack up whenever "so tender to the touch" was used).

It's a ghost. Better stay out of the weed!

by Anonymousreply 89October 19, 2021 5:38 AM

OP, you fail to mention if the fibromyalgia was self-diagnosed? I will assume it was considering the fatality. I condole you.

I hope everyone is taking up the Fibromyalgia Challenge on TikTok and posting short videos of mug-cradling to raise money and awareness.

by Anonymousreply 90October 19, 2021 5:55 AM

I’ll add to the “joking aside” - my cervical vertebrae were collapsing for years (I actually *am* “hypermobile”), and in my country medical care is free but very slow and conservative.

I tried to get doctors to take me seriously for twenty years but was sent to pain clinics instead. My extra work insurance covered massage, accupuncture, CUPPING, intramuscular stimulation, and chiropractic shit (and yet if you needed psychotherapy you were SOL).

Where I live, doctors also won’t prescribe opiates or antianxiety meds unless you’re literally dying.

So, yeah - after years of pain, I suddenly became unable to walk or feel my fingers, and only THEN had laminectomy/fusion of five cervical vertebrae and am now permanently disabled. Fuck all this woo shit!! I’m surrounded by fucking hippies who talked about essential oils and inner anger causing illness. Fuck off!!

by Anonymousreply 91October 19, 2021 6:21 AM

Cupping! Thanks, R91 for reminding me. She probably should have tried cupping.

I have a Latinx non-binary person who does it for me.

by Anonymousreply 92October 19, 2021 8:41 AM

Was she overweight? If so it's possible that the glandular issue that caused that was a complicating factor, not that the obesity itself would've caused any issues.

by Anonymousreply 93October 19, 2021 8:47 AM

Is she going to have a "wiccan" funeral?

by Anonymousreply 94October 19, 2021 9:32 AM

by Anonymousreply 96October 19, 2021 9:36 AM

She ran out of spoons. I condole you.

by Anonymousreply 98October 19, 2021 9:59 AM

R98 yes she has no more need for those scarce spoons anymore. It’s somewhat a blessing she died when she did, before he seasonal affective disorder kicked in.

by Anonymousreply 102October 19, 2021 11:12 AM

OP if it's any consolation, though she has left our physical plane, your aunt is thriving in the astral plane. She is finally free of pain (well, all feeling really).

What you need to focus on now is your own health. I believe you will benefit greatly from the use of essential gemstones, and the healing power of their vibrations. Here's a list to help you get started. I would go out TODAY to get hematite for flushing out toxins and bringing strength, and green aventurine for its ability to detoxify the organs. Our organs are full of toxins and that's why we get sick.

by Anonymousreply 112October 19, 2021 2:21 PM

R107 didn’t understand the assignment.

by Anonymousreply 113October 19, 2021 2:38 PM

[quote] You’ll be pleased to know that my chakras are in the process of realignment since my session with my doctor this morning so I am on the road to my own personal recovery.

Did she live above a large deposit of quartz and limestone? If so, her spirit might still be available for future consultations on all health related matters.

I'd suggest placing jasper and obsidian crystals under your pillow at night. The jasper will nurture your spirit. The obsidian will kung-fu chop any negativity that may be building up within your chakras.

by Anonymousreply 120October 19, 2021 5:28 PM

She already communicated with me. At least I think it was her. It happened while I was watching our favourite show-“when calls the heart”. A jasmine scented candle I was burning started to flicker wildly. Then I knew, in my heart of hearts, that she must still be with me, guiding me I’d listen.

by Anonymousreply 121October 19, 2021 5:37 PM

The only bowl you should be cradling right now is a shanti bowl, OP! You especially want one that has been crafted by a Tibetan artisan using traditional techniques. Eastern medicine has been around for thousands of years, you need to follow the ancient ways to rid yourself of modern maladies. If the bowl isn't enough to clear the negative vibrations from your chakras (most people don't realize how important vibrations are in promoting positive gut flora) you will have to invest in a gong as well. I wouldn't buy a gong and bowl set, as those won't work. You need to buy them separately so they can recognize and realize your intentions. After a while you'll see that the gongs, singing bowls, and chanting have a softening effect on your nervous system, digestive system, and brain, and you will be able to find true peace and health.

Fibromyalgia is simply another form of mental illness. I’ve worked with numerous Rheumatoid Arthritis MDs and DOs over the years and most find these types of patients nuts, plain and simple. The pharma industry couldn’t jump on the bandwagon fast enough to create a medication for these crazies so these doctors prescribe them something to shut them up.

by Anonymousreply 127October 19, 2021 7:07 PM

So what you’re saying is that we spent a fortune on crystals, a herbalist and osteopath as well an assortment of Tibetan bowls, for nothing? I’m sorry, but I don’t accept this. If you could see how much joy and vitality those essential oils brought her at the end of her life - you wouldn’t say such things. Shame on you r127 and the only mental disorder around here is your unwillingness to see fibromyalgia for what it is. A disease that destroys not just the lives of the sufferer but their families too.

by Anonymousreply 128October 19, 2021 7:33 PM

R127 And don’t call us nuts, plain and simple. she was quite an attractive woman before she was gripped by fibro.

by Anonymousreply 129October 19, 2021 7:51 PM

I just remember her diving in for a hug while complaining that her nipples were too sensitive. I mean I've never been a boob grabber.

by Anonymousreply 131October 19, 2021 8:54 PM

My fibromyalgia is complicated by my chronic fatigue syndrome. And I've just been diagnosed with vulvodynia.

by Anonymousreply 132October 19, 2021 10:22 PM

Poor dear. What a saint. Did she have the TMJs and the Restless Syndrome Legs as well?

She’s with the Lord now.

None of this compares with Ehlers-Danlos, although of course I suffer from both syndromes simultaneously, as well as from OCD and PTSD from being date-raped at Oberlin. Plus I had COVID, which I diagnosed in myself.

No one knows the hell I go through, although I will be happy to share it with you in my next memoir selling from Random House for $28.95.

Never make them lift you onto the couch like others did for your aunt.

I'm organizing a Candlelight Protest outside the home of Dr. Budd...

If only he had taken her seriously

I've got the fibro in my wooha and can't let a man's dingler anywhere near me.

by Anonymousreply 138October 22, 2021 12:15 PM

R138 You probably don’t have much time anyway. There’s an aggressive form of fibro going around, didn’t you know

by Anonymousreply 139October 22, 2021 2:15 PM

Aggression is not OK, r139!

Universal homeopathic healthcare is needed. Her death could have been prevented with proper access to alternative medicine.

My grandmothers dear friend from church had a cousin who knew a lady that died from chronic fatigue syndrome before it became well known thanks to the golden girls. Listen to your body and respect it.

R142 - Superspreading of an STI? That girl has weird marks around her mouth... just saying.

OP, has the estate contacted you yet? I figured your aunt would have left behind her essential oils. She would have wanted you to have them.

I've heard blood letting is making a comeback and that using leeches can become ADDICTIVE. Moderation in all things!

Did this aunt ever have a man on the land?

by Anonymousreply 146December 6, 2021 11:05 PM

Did she have fibromyalgia-delta or the new fibromyalgia-omicron variant?

by Anonymousreply 147December 7, 2021 8:09 AM

I thought fibromyalgia was a new type of pasta low on carbs. Imagine my embarrassment when ordering dinner at Dino's on a blind date!
