How do all these young guys on social media do it?

All of these expensive trips, clothes, fancy jewlery/cars/wine, etc.

I’m not talking about the guys who are super popular. I’m talking about guys with not that many followers. It makes no sense (I’m spending entirely too much time stalking guys on social media).

by Anonymousreply 21January 7, 2022 1:55 PM

Also, the expensive electronics.

by Anonymousreply 1October 16, 2021 8:41 PM

They don't. Social media is marketing. It's an illusion. It gives people the impression they are something they are not and helps their "brand." It's reinforces horrible human traits of being fake and sociopathic.

Also, a lot of stuff is just given to them for free by sponsors so they can hawk it on their channel/vlog/ig.

Well I’m an OnlyFans photographer (also help manage) and in about 4 sessions, I make about 6 months worth of content including nudes, social media photos, half the videos, etc. Usually I do a hotel suite, then a rented photo studio space, then some more hotels for X rated stuff.

It’s pretty easy to create the illusion. Traveling can be cheap and then a lot of houses and cars can be rented for 1-2 days.

I’ve done air BnBs where I rent out a luxury apartment and the model just stays there for the weekend and I shoot for 2 days. There’s places like peerspace where people rent out luxury apartments or wherever for like 2 hours for a shoot.

It would take about $1,200 for me to make someone look like they live in a mansion and drive an expensive car. I could give them content for 6 months to keep that illusion up in a single session or a weekend of it.

by Anonymousreply 3October 16, 2021 8:57 PM

^ Exactly. It can easily all be an illusion. I've known of people who were couch surfing, but their IG made it seem like they were jetsetting.

by Anonymousreply 4October 16, 2021 8:59 PM

I’ve also faked beach / outdoor photos. I have a blue and a teal backdrop and I stand them in front of it and do a lot of upshots and then I just lightly Photoshop things in. I’ve used my green screen and just cut and pasted and edited them on the beach and it works. You just have to make the studio lights mimicking the way the sun would shine outside.

It seems like a really grim way to live your life, to my eyes. But hey, people will do what they will, there'll always be people, a majority of them probably, who want everyone to look at them all the time. As long as they count me out of this.

Well I walked uptown

And I saw a sign – 'Today’s lecture:

'Big Science and Little Man'

So, I walked in and there were all these salesmen there

With a big pile of electronics

And they were singing – "Phase, lock, loop!

"Neurological bonding

"Video disc"

They were saying – "We’re gonna link you up...

"We’re gonna phase you in!"

They said – "Think of it this way...

"Picture a Christmas tree

"With lots of little sparkly lights

"And each light is totally separate

"But they’re all sort of hanging off the same wire

"Get the picture?"

And I said – "Count me out."

And they said – "We’ve got your number"

And I said – "Count me out!

"You gotta count me out!"

R4 Exactly. Or you save things up. Like that Gabby Petito already had her post for October 31st / Halloween queued up for social media and she died in early August.

Back in February, I did 3 days with a model and we were able to do a Halloween shoot and Christmas shoot, just a pumpkin and a Santa hat and whatever but a lot is pre-planned.

I look at social media marketing / OnlyFans as a TV series. That’s how I explain it to models. We spend 4 sessions filming, get all the content up and then run it and then in 6 months we go back and do it all over again.

In a 4 hour sessions I can get about 3,000 photos. Not all of them are good but especially if it’s nudity I use about 800. And it’s all different setups to make it look like it was done on different days and gradually.

That’s why I don’t do this with female models because men don’t have to change their hair and makeup. Just change underwear and it looks like a different day. Usually on a second or third session I’ll tell them to shave their chest or keep their stubble or whatever. It’s pretty simple.

So basically it’s “fake it ‘til you make it, and if you don’t make it, become a whore.”

by Anonymousreply 8October 16, 2021 9:08 PM

Like for example, Jake Andrich. I’ve analyzed his photos. He has about 300 photos over 2 years he’s taken and they’ve all been in bulks. I’d say the majority of his photos are about 3 sessions of him doing selfies. He does a lot in his house but like half of them are like 2 other sessions he did in a hotel room.

by Anonymousreply 9October 16, 2021 9:11 PM

Is Jake Andrich gay?

by Anonymousreply 10January 7, 2022 8:27 AM

And this is why Instagram has been found to make people the most depressed about themselves.

by Anonymousreply 11January 7, 2022 8:35 AM

Also social media can get you into trouble with your job. Just because it’s an illusion being presented or just a fantasy it could be used against you. So beware. The laws haven’t become sophisticated enough to stop employers or potential employers for using it against you. Even though a lot of it is fake.

by Anonymousreply 12January 7, 2022 8:41 AM

It's supposed to be aspirational, but it's all very boring (and fake, obviously). I don't have any interest in following those accounts. If they're hot, the nudes will "leak" eventually.

by Anonymousreply 13January 7, 2022 8:50 AM

Thank you for sharing, R3...that was interesting (and good for you for finding a way to make money in a unique way). I used to wonder why some guys on OF would say they'd been too busy to post content...wondered how hard could it be to take a picture.

Anyway, an influencer named Levi Mack recently gave some insight into how much money he makes from social media. In photos it looks like he has it all, and even has hundreds of thousands of followers on IG and TikTok. However, he only makes around $5,000 a month...which

by Anonymousreply 14January 7, 2022 9:17 AM

R12 Curious about this - do you have some examples?

by Anonymousreply 15January 7, 2022 9:31 AM

R10 I don’t think so. And he’s very smart about his brand. He doesn’t expose his personal life whatsoever. He doesn’t show his friends or girlfriends, it’s just him. We know nothing about him beyond his body and it’s smart because so many OnlyFans models ruin their careers / brands with girlfriends.

Like Chris Hatts just had a baby. The first post about it got a lot of likes but the last few have been some of his least liked. People don’t want to jerk off to new Dads. I think he’s made so much money he doesn’t care. But it’s stupid.

Michael Yerger is another example. He’d make more money if he kept his girlfriend off his social media.

It’s like what I was saying about Nick Jonas and Shawn Mendes in another thread. Homoerotic and availability = success for men.

by Anonymousreply 16January 7, 2022 1:13 PM

R14 First off, his followers aren’t interested in him. He has 175,000 followers on Instagram and most of his photos generate between 2k-6k likes. That’s way under the standard scale of success, which is 10% engagement.

He does nothing to generate excitement. He doesn’t wear anything tight or show off his legs or anything below his naval. There’s no butt photos, nothing. He’s totally PG. He’s not making any money cause he’s not selling sex at all.

He mentions Bradley Martyn as his idol. Bradley Martyn was the original gym thot of Instagram. He wore everything tight and sexy and did videos where the focus was on his ass during workouts.

A lot of these fitness people don’t realize it. They really think fitness is the main reason of popularity.

It’s smoke and mirrors. Look at Robert Portales @rjportales. He comes off as a fitness guru and etc but his whole page is a foot fetish page and he knows it. Most of his photos focus on his feet. I think now because he’s so popular he can steer away from it but it’s what got him on.

He’s going to have to hustle doing fitness! I think it’s on the lower end of social media influencing.

Makeup with women is over saturated but women are content hustling until they get free shit sent to them. You don’t even need a lot of followers at this point for makeup brands to send you free shit lol. Women are happy making nothing and getting free shit sent to them lol.

by Anonymousreply 17January 7, 2022 1:29 PM

They pay for it with the nature's credit card, Rose.

by Anonymousreply 18January 7, 2022 1:32 PM

Gays are simultaneously narcissistic and boring on social media. If the first 9/9 boxes on a gays Instagram page are solo pics, he’s a total psycho. It’s the ultimate red flag.

by Anonymousreply 19January 7, 2022 1:36 PM

There's a documentary on HBO Max called fake famous. Some marketing experts pick 3 randos to make social media famous. They walk you through the whole rigamarole. Faking a luxury lifestyle, buying followers, faking sponsorships until the real ones come, etc.

by Anonymousreply 20January 7, 2022 1:44 PM

The ones going on luxurious trips are getting whored out by someone/people in that location. Dubai is notorious for this.
