Amongst other things, the censored homasexshualist Night Of The Long Knives sequence in The Damned has been restored. Yay!
How depressing for the current DL that the Halloween Kills is drawing posts, and this one isn't. Talk about the fall of the West!

Agreed r2. I can't say this NYT piece really provides the sharpest insights, but I am glad Visconti - and this trilogy - is getting some renewed exposure. All three of these movies are flawed but very much worth watching, especially Ludwig a slow-moving, haunting, and mesmerizing homoerotic-operatic epic with the beautiful Helmut Berger.

The Damned is like a venting of Visconti's wet dreams (particularly the Night Of The Long Knives party). Ludwig is like an ode to Germanness, and the madness of beauty. And yes, absolutely operatic.
