Shake Shack versus Five Guys versus In N Out versus Smashburger

I’m a Five Guys fan as well. Never tried Smash Burger. Shake Shack is overrated and too expensive. I think it’s unfair to compare In and Out to any of them. It’s a totally different kind of burger.

Few better than a charbroiled Fatburger. Unfortunately those are few and far between.

Haven’t had Shake Shack yet, it’s a bit far (20+miles) but heard they’re really good.

Smash Burger is better than Shake Shake even though they smash the burger while cooking - what you're definitely not supposed to do!

Don't they put a ball of meat on the grill and then smash it? How is that wrong?

In-N-Out does not belong in this group. It is FAR more basic and FAR less expensive than the other three.

You don't apply pressure to hamburger meat when it's cooking, R13. Smash Burger should learn to make proper patties and lose the smash.

Smashburger has come and gone here--they were pretty forgettable. Five Guys varies a bit by franchise and is somewhat different than the other two. Shake Shakes has not great fries. In and Out is cheaper but despite all the recent hate, probably the best value.

I don't eat hamburgers from shacks, multiple guys or establishments that smash my food.

I may be as poor as you, but I have my standards.

Shake Shack all the way. The Milk Bar shakes are the best.

Just last night I tried Shake Shack's new truffle burger and o gotta say it was pretty fucking good.

Five guys for sure. Of course try finding one here in Georgia. I think the nearest is 25 miles from me.

The thing about burger places is that once I’ve had a bad one, I can’t eat there again. I used to loooove Shake Shack amd then got one that was cold and undercooked. Can’t eat them now.

If the restaurant "Shake" in its name, I'm full before I walk in.

Smashburger had those Mediterranean fries or whatever with the spices and olive oil, they were so good.

I'm intrigued by this. I've never been to a Culver's.
