Shake Shack versus Five Guys versus In N Out versus Smashburger

I think 5 Guys takes them all. It's just a better burger.

Fat Burger

I’m a Five Guys fan as well. Never tried Smash Burger. Shake Shack is overrated and too expensive. I think it’s unfair to compare In and Out to any of them. It’s a totally different kind of burger.

by Anonymousreply 2October 14, 2021 10:00 PM

R1, you literally type “fat”.

[quote]Smashburger

Such a douchebag brotard name for a burger place.

by Anonymousreply 4October 15, 2021 2:29 AM

I think In N Out is sort of like 5 Guys.

by Anonymousreply 5October 15, 2021 3:36 AM

None of those, thanks. Fat Burger or the original Tommy’s.

by Anonymousreply 6October 15, 2021 3:50 AM

Few better than a charbroiled Fatburger. Unfortunately those are few and far between.

by Anonymousreply 7October 15, 2021 4:26 AM

Smash burger>>in & Out >>>>>>>> Five Guys

Haven’t had Shake Shack yet, it’s a bit far (20+miles) but heard they’re really good.

by Anonymousreply 8October 15, 2021 4:42 AM

They'r'e "meh", R8.

by Anonymousreply 9October 15, 2021 5:32 AM

Tommy's is good, but it's a different level.

by Anonymousreply 10October 15, 2021 5:33 AM

This should’ve been a poll.

by Anonymousreply 11October 15, 2021 1:21 PM

Smash Burger is better than Shake Shake even though they smash the burger while cooking - what you're definitely not supposed to do!

by Anonymousreply 12October 15, 2021 1:24 PM

Don't they put a ball of meat on the grill and then smash it? How is that wrong?

by Anonymousreply 13October 15, 2021 1:29 PM

In-N-Out does not belong in this group. It is FAR more basic and FAR less expensive than the other three.

by Anonymousreply 14October 15, 2021 1:35 PM

You don't apply pressure to hamburger meat when it's cooking, R13. Smash Burger should learn to make proper patties and lose the smash.

Smashburger has come and gone here--they were pretty forgettable. Five Guys varies a bit by franchise and is somewhat different than the other two. Shake Shakes has not great fries. In and Out is cheaper but despite all the recent hate, probably the best value.

by Anonymousreply 17October 15, 2021 1:43 PM

I don't eat hamburgers from shacks, multiple guys or establishments that smash my food.

I may be as poor as you, but I have my standards.

by Anonymousreply 18October 15, 2021 1:46 PM

Shake Shack all the way. The Milk Bar shakes are the best.

Five guys for sure. Of course try finding one here in Georgia. I think the nearest is 25 miles from me.

In N Out is closer to Wendy's.

Come for the over-praised fast food, stay for proselytization with bible verses.

by Anonymousreply 22October 15, 2021 2:55 PM

The thing about burger places is that once I’ve had a bad one, I can’t eat there again. I used to loooove Shake Shack amd then got one that was cold and undercooked. Can’t eat them now.

by Anonymousreply 23October 15, 2021 3:07 PM

If the restaurant "Shake" in its name, I'm full before I walk in.

by Anonymousreply 24October 15, 2021 3:10 PM

Smashburger had those Mediterranean fries or whatever with the spices and olive oil, they were so good.

by Anonymousreply 25October 15, 2021 3:35 PM

I'm intrigued by this. I've never been to a Culver's.
