What hand soap and candle brands do you prefer? Jo Malone used to be preferred by my British friends and they, like me, have switched to Diptyque. They even have their big ass candles. I used to like Malin + Goetz, but I’m sick of it. I think gays that still wear Diesel are still buying it. Jo Malone still makes my favorite candle, so will continue to buy it.

Santa Maria Novella soap and hand paste.

OP, are you new here? Many DLers are on fixed incomes living in public housing or their mother's basement. An upscale candle is Botanica By Airwick, and Dial soap is a splurge.
cram your 300 dollah DIPTYQUE Feu de Bois bougie up your ass, si vous le voulez

Yankee Candle and Irish Spring for me!

Speaking of Yankee vs. les bougies YSL Le Vestiaire des Perfums, I'm just a bit too image-conscious to display Yankee candle in my hope but I will buy and enjoy the votives. I recently enjoyed "Beach Escape" and a lot of the ones with Moonlight or Moonlit in the name are nice.

We just had a candle thread and I said Voluspa orange.
Hand soap? I just use Aveeno body wash in the pump for everything, including my hair, face, and hands.

So what’s your favorite Jo Malone candle, OP?

I like Mrs. Meyers for both. I’m not wealthy enough to wash money down the drain or light it on fire.

I find good, somewhat fancy hand soap in the cosmetics section of my local health food store. Nice packaging and interesting scents.

Scented candles are bad for your health. And they are even fatal for fat hoes with COPD.

Lots of allergies. Non-scented, fragrance free everything, including dish soap, candles, deodorant, laundry detergent, etc.

In 2011 Trader Joe's on top of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle had a great scented handsoap in a brown bottle. I can't remember the name of it, but I used it for awhile. I now use stuff I buy at QFC that's antibacterial. I think it's Dial or something. There's one scent I just opened, Marula Oils. It's revolting and perfumey, simply vile.
When I wore extended wear soft contacts and lighted candles, it felt like the wax from the candles that would escape into the air would glom onto the lenses. Even now, 23 years after I stopped wearing contact lenses, whenever I light a candle, it feels like the wax in the air rests on my cornea. I'd rather go with not lighting candles than damaging my cornea.
Beeswax candles are the bomb shizzle, though.

This one is my favorite, to answer the question above. It’s really nice when the weather is a little colder.

What stones do you prefer in your tiaras, OP?

Nothing can compare to Winter Candy Apple or Ice Ginger Bread from Bath & Body Works.
NOTHING.

I bought some in Florence and love them.

For candles, usually any scent I like from those on the Marshall's, Ross, TJ Max, Target shelves. I tried Diptyque and was not enthralled enough to want to keep splurging. I went not wild buying up every Slatkin Scentworx candle Kohl's stocked, scent unsmelled when they had a huge online sale. Would not repurchase most of them, too cloying. As far as a brand I keep coming back to, I love Jasmine Santal by CLCo / Candle-lite Company. It was a surprise find on the supermarket shelf. They burn well, last long, are made in the USA and have a warm, homey but not too sweet scent.
For hand soap I've been using bar soap again lately. I get Zum goat milk soap. They have nice sales periodically. I also love a huge bar of french, triple-milled linden scented soap my health food co-op sells. I also enjoy Body Shop soaps. For liquid soap I like Vitabath in Spring Green, or Dr. Bronner's particularly peppermint or almond. I have some sort of grapefruit scented hand soap in the pump right now for non-bar-soap people.

^ Hog wild.
I want to try the SMN soap and hand paste mentioned earlier. I had two of their scents a while back and LOVED them.

[R21] I think the Diptyque candles are more about the packaging, honestly. That’s why I mostly continue with Jo Malone candles, just like it better. I think the popularity with Malin + Goetz was just the packaging and aesthetic, I think their scents are too simple, kind of like scented markers for kids.
