All the articles I found in my cursory Google search mention anxiety, depression, and addictions to pills and booze. Which psych meds make people gain weight all of a sudden? I’ve been on Zoloft for something like 12 years and haven’t gotten fat. But I realize everyone is different.

It sounds like her problems go beyond anxiety and depression, which is what plague me (and like 100 million other people in this country).

I hope she’s okay now. The weight gain is, paradoxically, a sign that maybe this time she’s getting better. She could have quit drinking and is now filling the void with food, or she found a psych med that finally works but causes weight gain.

I hope she doesn’t end up like Tawny Kitaen or Tanya Roberts.

I ballooned on Zoloft and had always been thin. Switched to Prozac and didn't have the same problem but now I have hot flashes. 'Don't touch me, I'm hot flashing!'

I'm not so convinced that "no psychiatric medication can put weight on you." SSRIs work by making changes to serotonin levels and may affect other hormones as well. This could affect your overall metabolism and microbiome as well as your appetite.

Her face looks totally different. This isn't typical, normal weight gain. Either she's had too much plastic surgery and fillers with weight gain or else she's on something that is causing her face to bloat and swell. Sad.

R7 of becomes a lot harder to keep weight off as you get older, although “fat/fat” you’re right can probably be controlled in most cases. But being movie star thin starts to become nearly impossible.

Could be a good sign. When people get sober, quit smoking cigarettes, whatever, they initially turn to food and put on a few pounds. I smoked cigarettes for 15 years or so. When I finally quit, I knew I was going to put on weight ... and I did. It was a choice I made. It took a *long* time to take off that damn weight.

Most of these comments criticizing her weight are coming from fat, ancient caftan grannies.

Menopause was the final kick in her fat ass! Wine and food were the start.

She was crazy skinny in her golden years, which was probably because of diet pills (amphetamines). Amphetamines can really fuck up your personality and behavior. If she quit them, it could account for the massive weight gain. Her face is fucked up because of all the plastic shit she put there. Women who have careers because of their beauty do not accept the aging process. It's super sad.

Looks like Prednisone bloating. I'm not saying that's what it is, just seeing a strong similarity between Heather and a couple of people I've known who were on Prednisone and swelled up. It's the face, especially.

I was Susan Lucci tiny thin until my forties - no dieting - smoked; excercised, busy - easy. Then I quit smoking and hit early menopause the same year - the weight hit me like a floating device blowing up - it hit me like a hard wave. I’ve worked really hard to get it down again to some success but I have never had it comfortably where I want it. It has remained a struggle - it bums me out - it sounds weird but being thin (slim not scrawny) was always “my thing:” I miss shopping for fun stylish clothes - I still dress well but being 5’1” you’ve got to be trim or you look like a fire hydrant. I wonder if Mariska Hargitay sees herself in the early seasons of SVU and misses her old shape. Now Heather’s face is all sorts of bloated swollen weird! I hope she is feeling well.

Central obesity + moon face = steroids. My mom had to take steroid medication for an autoimmune condition (pemphigus) and it completely changed her appearance.

Yes, it aired today 10/15/21. You would never know HL had endured any problems in her personal life, she was alert and fun. The makeup artist gave her a subdued smokey eyed look to showcase her best features, nothing over the top. Drew, was unable to direct the conversation appropriately, she babbled in a directionless manner but HL was a pro.
