Something has to give. Many taxpayers do NOT want to pay the costs of running serious, full-fledged public universities. Everyone is looking out for him or herself. There is no spirit of public good. Talent will go elsewhere. Georgia will run on poorly paid professors and eventually it will be felt in the state.

Why would any serious academic want to be in a red state?

r4 in today's job market, most academics take whatever job they can get. They can't afford to be picky.

Good riddance to tenure. It prevents universities from getting rid of bad apples such as anti-vax professors, racists, etc.

And? Do you know how many shit academics are protected by tenure. Why should professors be some special class of people who never have to worry about maintaining a certain standard of work performance.
