This isn't a good time to be an academic, especially in a red state.

I'm sure the Trans Haters will take a victory lap and then declare that they aren't Repigs, just regular old Democrats who've gotten tired of Gender Fascism.

And r1 has .... what exactly to do with OP?

Something has to give. Many taxpayers do NOT want to pay the costs of running serious, full-fledged public universities. Everyone is looking out for him or herself. There is no spirit of public good. Talent will go elsewhere. Georgia will run on poorly paid professors and eventually it will be felt in the state.

Why would any serious academic want to be in a red state?

r4 in today's job market, most academics take whatever job they can get. They can't afford to be picky.

As much as they like to cry “Freedom!,” they don’t care for it .

Other red states will follow suit

Good. Academia is a pyramid scheme.

Good riddance to tenure. It prevents universities from getting rid of bad apples such as anti-vax professors, racists, etc.

And? Do you know how many shit academics are protected by tenure. Why should professors be some special class of people who never have to worry about maintaining a certain standard of work performance.

R11 people waste a decade of their lives and go into seven figure debt in a fruitless effort to join the academia racket, but I’m the stupid one. Got it.

Seven figures, R12? You do realize that’s a million dollars. No grad program costs that much, even with living expenses. Maybe you need to go back to first-grade arithmetic.
