Why do so many airplanes crash in Russia?

It sounds like a new plane crash happens over there every month.

Just good ol’ Russian dumbness.

by Anonymousreply 1October 11, 2021 9:19 PM

Because it's SO FUCKIN' HUGE. The bigger the place the bigger the chance a plane crash will happen over its area.

by Anonymousreply 2October 11, 2021 9:23 PM

Who makes their planes? It's a Russian company isn't it?

by Anonymousreply 3October 11, 2021 9:26 PM

Because the pilots are drunks?

by Anonymousreply 4October 11, 2021 9:26 PM

the link at OP says they are parachutists.

Why didn’t they use their parachutes?

by Anonymousreply 5October 11, 2021 9:27 PM

They're not exactly a country known for their quality.

by Anonymousreply 6October 11, 2021 9:55 PM

Vodka.

by Anonymousreply 7October 11, 2021 10:15 PM

No shit...no one ever says "ooh, made in Russia, must be good".

by Anonymousreply 8October 11, 2021 10:19 PM

Say what you will about their shitty safety record, Aeroflot knew how to serve commie camp when it came to advertising.

Life is meaningless. Might as well crash plane.

by Anonymousreply 10October 11, 2021 10:24 PM

Because they are filming porn in the cockpit and they forget to steer the plane. So boom, into the mountain they go.

by Anonymousreply 11October 11, 2021 10:25 PM

That was hilarious, R9. "Everyone gets a smile!" A Russian smiles only when he wants something from you or is about to plunge a dagger into your heart. Russians are truly human beasts.

by Anonymousreply 12October 11, 2021 10:28 PM

They probably fly the Trabant of airplanes.

To answer your question, OP: Because 99.9% of the people in any position requiring hard work and discipline is a corrupt piece of shit.

Actual Answer (because on this site, you're gonna read at least 10 replies with bad jokes first)

I'm sure all of the safety and regulation efforts in Russia go towards huge passenger planes--the busses in the sky. Smaller, privately owned aircraft are likely completely unregulated and because the old ones are mechanical, they are flown until they crash.

This is the case in Africa. Lots of older planes are used to fly a few people or cargo/goods from village to village. They end up sold there after they can't be flown in places that regulate planes and then are used until it goes down / disappears.

by Anonymousreply 15October 11, 2021 11:15 PM

I'm r15. When I say these small aircraft are mechanical, I mean they are like older cars that can be worked on by mechanics who know what they're doing and can go indefinitely with constant maintenance, unlike newer cars that have all sorts of software/computers that require a dealership or advanced technology to fix.

The Russian work ethic is to do as little work as possible and never raise a finger to help your coworkers. Team work is concept that doesn't exist in Russian culture. There are many where I work. In a very diverse workforce where I work, they are universally loathed, perhaps even hated, by their fellow health care workers.

by Anonymousreply 17October 11, 2021 11:19 PM

R17 I believe it.

by Anonymousreply 18October 12, 2021 3:50 AM

The bad things, happen to the good people.

by Anonymousreply 19October 12, 2021 4:40 AM

I watched one episode of Air Crash Investigation in which a Russian pilot allowed his son to fly the plane for a few minutes and then it crashed, killing hundred of people onboard. What a stupid, shithole piece of Russian trash, the whole family of them. That is how Russia operates as a whole.

by Anonymousreply 20October 12, 2021 5:16 AM

Then Muslim pilots are more likely to commit suicide and mass murder by intentionally crashing their planes. That is a fact.

by Anonymousreply 21October 12, 2021 5:18 AM

I love that I took the time to answer the question and people just continued to write closed minded bullshit after.

It is a very poor country with little regulation. They fly small planes until they crash or can't get off the runway.

by Anonymousreply 22October 12, 2021 5:22 AM

[quote] It is a very poor country with little regulation.

But why are they poor? Aren't they a massive country abundant with natural resources and land?

by Anonymousreply 23October 12, 2021 5:55 PM

The country is destitute. People die from drinking perfume and fake alcohol there. I mean how poor do you have to be to drink perfume and cleaning solvents?

Lax regulation is actually not closely connected with whether a country is "poor". So I'm technically wrong to claim that its because Russia is poor. But I know for a fact that in some African countries they fly small planes until they can't get off the runway (or crash) so I'm extrapolating that must be the issue in Russia. In the african countries, the planes don't even arrive in those countries until wealthier countries get rid of them. so they're like used cars on their last legs.

by Anonymousreply 25October 12, 2021 8:07 PM

Agree with r15/ r25. Aviation regulations are lax in Russia, and rarely enforced, especially for small planes. Aeroflot has decent standards because they need to meet them in order to remain cleared to land at Western airports, but I would be extremely hesitant to board a domestic flight in Russia.

by Anonymousreply 26October 12, 2021 9:01 PM

Vodka.

by Anonymousreply 27October 12, 2021 9:04 PM

The pilots are alcoholic ex-circus bears on a vodka bender.

by Anonymousreply 28October 12, 2021 9:15 PM

It's the fault of the Russian Orthodox Church and patriarchy.

In this case literal patriarchs!

by Anonymousreply 29October 12, 2021 10:09 PM

Ask Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 30October 12, 2021 10:23 PM

The country is poor because of corruption and mismanagement, the Russian people are complicit and let it happen. It was the same under communism and still the same now, it's always been that way since time began. I'm not crying for them. They're boiling over with gas and oil, they should be rich, but only some are.
