What's the worst group of people to have as coworkers?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 11, 2021 12:40 PM |
OP would be awful to work with. If he had a job.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 10, 2021 5:12 PM |
Anyone who used They/Them pronouns.

I have to say I work with an all-female office for a beauty supply company and I couldn’t be happier. There’s no hierarchy whatsoever. There’s a little drama here and there but it’s hilarious rather than stressful.
I have actually worked with non-binary people and transmen and have good experiences with them. They were introverted and nice.
The biggest issue at my last job was the boss. She was a narcissist. She needed me but hated me and I’m sure she’s happy right now because she finally feels like the smartest person in the room and I’m not there to put her crazy ideas into logic. But she was incredibly toxic. She hates all of her employees. No one is good enough.
I think being under the thumb of a toxic boss is the worst. It makes everyone else miserable and toxic as well.

I worked with a group of white men at a nuclear power plant (I'm a white man as well). They would compete to see who could fart the loudest or smelliest. So that was pretty awful. I also worked with a black feminist. She was working on a graduate degree in some type of ethnic studies program with an emphasis on 'intersectionality', which was basically 'I'm a bigger victim because I'm four kinds of minority rather than just three". So she was a delight to be around.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 10, 2021 5:36 PM |
I knew people would come after her over this. I don’t like her and I think she is overrated as an actress, but I’m with her on this. She wasn’t attacking him because he is black or male, it was because he didn’t have the skill set to do the job. How would you feel if you were told “ok, this person with no experience at the job is going to be your boss this week” because he is friend of the bosses?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 10, 2021 5:38 PM |
The gossipy queens and moms who forget that the entire workplace would be better if they'd just do their work, and not flit around with gossip wasting time.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 10, 2021 5:39 PM |
I'm sure working with conservatives, trumpers and deranged frau terfs is way worse than working around a white feminist. Working with celebrities must be bad too, given that they are often kooky.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 10, 2021 5:42 PM |
For me it's whiny straight white guys I call Goldilocks. Nothing is ever right, just constant bitching and moaning.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 10, 2021 5:42 PM |
I hope EllenPompeo does not apologize for coming across as "entitled and privileged." Denzel Washington is hardly a victim in all this. He's much too far above her in the Hollywood food chain for him to be.

Agreed, r11
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 10, 2021 6:06 PM |
Again, Ellen tried to control a scene she was not directing - trying to control both the director and other scene partner and then when Denzel chewed her out for it, she ran to his wife.
If you guys think that’s acceptable, then you guys are probably bitches just like her.

Women are the worst bosses. Even other women say the same thing. I think a woman of color would be the absolute worst boss, but I wouldn't work for a black woman. I see too many issues.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 10, 2021 6:24 PM |
R15 was your last sentence supposed to be “I have too many issues.”?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 10, 2021 6:29 PM |
Women are hideous to work with, generally.
And we're not supposed to say anything when we can smell them bleed into their clothes in warm offices. But they all expect each other to shriek if a man says, "mankind" by mistake.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 10, 2021 6:33 PM |
R17, oh Jesus. Vomit warning please.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 10, 2021 6:42 PM |
Grow up, R17
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 10, 2021 6:46 PM |
R15 I don’t agree with that. I think white women are way worse.
I’ve worked with everyone and white women seem to be the biggest control freaks and micro-managers and THE most passive aggressive.
They are the furthest away from men. If this was 100 years ago they’d all be reading romance novels on their fainting couches while everyone else worked in factories and shit.
That mentality is still there. They are always Queens of the Castle.
The women that I work with now worked for a man for 20-30+ years who they adored and he’s old and sick so he left and that’s probably why there’s no hierarchy or superiority complexes. They work like he’s still in his office, which is empty now. I believe the “patriarchal” presence is still there and that’s why the bitchy ness isn’t that bad.

Women didn’t go into the workforce in the 1900s, white women did. Black and Latino and Asian women and the poorest white women have been working FOREVER and in horrible jobs.
White women are the last group I’d ever ask for help with something. Especially if it was laborious.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 10, 2021 7:39 PM |
In my experience, people in general are insufferable.
Those who think that men are easier to deal with than women, are deluded: the levels of narcissism, bitchiness, malicious gossiping and whining are off the charts among all men, regardless of their sexual orientation. Also, I have seen more men wage defamation campaigns against people they dislike / overshadow them, than anybody else. They are just as obnoxious as the average fat, middle-aged Suzie Cubicle you hate with all your heart. Men are simply are more hypocritical about it all, because being openly bitchy is "unmanly". Still, in my experience, that has never stopped most men from being utter and complete cunts. This doesn't mean, of course, that women are any better; they're just less sneaky and more prone to show their true feelings.
Then you have minorities (black, Latin, Muslim, Pakistani, Indian), who constantly use their status as a means to get their way and attack anyone who they perceive as a professional threat, by claiming racism/xenophobia/lack of cultural sensitivity/Islamophobia. And then you have those who are wealthy in their countries of origin and think that everyone has the obligation to treat them with the utmost reverence - they are truly insufferable and the tantrums they throw whenever they can't get their way, tend to be epic. And let's not even talk about how they treat those who are beneath them...
The worst bosses I have ever had were:
1) A CEO (white man) who was incompetence personified. He never got anything right and blamed everyone for his uselessness, exploding into fits of rage several times a week, abandoning important projects at random and obsessively fixating on irrelevant matters that were a waste of time and resources. He is one of the worst bullies I have ever encountered in my life, and one of the least capable people ever to go into business. His father, who had retired, managed the company on his behalf while he only came to the office to terrorize everybody, so he could feel important.
2) A Pakistani Finance manager (male) who was petty, envious, dishonest, lazy and incredibly entitled. He talked shit about everyone, was incredibly unprofessional, revealed confidential information in order to damage other people's careers and targeted anybody who was of a higher social class, was good at their job or didn't defer to him. Insufferable idiot.
3) A hideous bitch who was built like a bulldog and had a personality to match. She had managed to become a Finance manager by sucking up to the right people and hated anybody with a degree, which she didn't have. She assessed people's competence based on their looks (handsome guys and pretty girls were treated like royalty, didn't work at all and were never called out on their mistakes), enjoyed bullying everybody else and falsely accused people she didn't like of making mistakes that she, or her protegés, had made.
So yes, in general, most people are a nightmare in the workplace - especially if they are incompetent and are given any measure of power.

by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 10, 2021 7:51 PM |
R26 agreed. Most jobs are nightmares because of bosses that shouldn't be bosses, sex aside. I've worked for cunty women and cunty men. My partner works in the trades with a majority being men, you should hear the drama.
And what's with this crap about women not working until recently? Only wealthy and upper class women have had the luxury of staying home. It was a thing for some in the middle classes for a few decades, but everyone's life wasn't a 50s sitcom, where women sat around playing housewife. They might not have had a big presence in some careers, but they worked -- cleaning for the wealhier classes, side jobs, farming, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 10, 2021 7:52 PM |
Worst Co-Workers (off the top of my head).
1. People (usually Christian) who talk about their God all the time as if we all believe in their God.
2. Micro-managers.
3. People who call in sick all the time.
4. Hoarders. Yes, at my previous job, there were a few hoarders.
5. People who bring their personal problems into work.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 10, 2021 7:56 PM |
Women are horrible managers. White feminist women are horrible times ten. Don't do it to yourselves, people. They're entitled and awful and they will run your company into the ground.

by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 10, 2021 8:02 PM |
Most workplaces are toxic and bring out the worst in people. In my last job alone I witnessed bullying from the CEO and President and the head of new business was actually fired because her staff jointly went to HR and complained. Sexual harassment from top level executives was well known and several female employees resigned because of it. Stay away from ad agencies.

Another group I hate is the people who want to get together (in a group) outside of work for sports, drinking, etc. I don't mind getting together, one-on-one, with people I like. The people who get together in groups outside of work end up being a work-time clique, promoting each other, etc. You really do lose out if you decide you don't want to spend time with them outside of work. But the trade off has never been worth it, to me. Plus, I wasn't invited to everything, so there's that.

Like most old white men, I hate working for women under 30, women over 50, minorities, women of color, immigrants, jews, lesbians, and almost any group you can think of that isn't straight, white, American male. I, however, won't hesitate to complain about you discriminating against me in the workplace.

What are you basing this on? Her husband and children are black. I doubt race factored into it.

Women are petty in the work place. They apply the rules to everyone but themselves. Women don’t support other women. They wanted to be treated as equal, but get angry when you don’t pick up their Starbucks order for them. Exhausting. I say this as someone who attempts to be an ally for women. I keeping making the thinking error that I work for a meritocracy (corporate job). The more people are left to their own devices and work from home, the better the working environment for them.

I had so many posts on this thread missing, and literally every single person on here saying "women are the worst" and "black women are the worst" are trolls I had ignored because they were Meghan Markle haters, rightwingers, and even one anti-trans troll. "Protect women from evil trans but don't let those women be bosses or anything," I guess.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 11, 2021 12:27 AM |
I don’t really have many issues with people at work, or at the other companies that we often collaborate with. Most of the posters complaining sound like those people that say everyone else is the problem, when in reality of course, they are the problem.
Part of working in an office is being able to deal with other people constructively (despite differences), if you can’t manage it then that makes you not a very desirable candidate for most jobs imho. For instance, going into a work environment with a preformed prejudice against working alongside women is not a good, or acceptable thing.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 11, 2021 12:29 AM |
I suspect most offices have simply outlived their usefulness. The craziness is a symptom of sticking with an old model that has simply ceased to function. We won't change for awhile, because we never change until we absolutely have to, but eventually I suspect they will largely disappear as some corporate ideal.

[quote] Women didn’t go into the workforce in the 1900s, white women did. Black and Latino and Asian women and the poorest white women have been working FOREVER and in horrible jobs.
That is one of the things in school, that made me want to really read and learn all I could about real history because when they acted like no women had ever worked in factories until WWII, I knew the women in my family had been in the cotton mills and tobacco factories for almost a hundred years by that point. It really impressed upon me that so much of our history is written by and from the position of the middle class.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 11, 2021 12:57 AM |
R50 It's these middle class fraus who stink up work places with their busybody, micro-managing, girlboss behavior. It's never women from poor or working class backgrounds. These women really need to go back to their romance novel book clubs, wiccan sage burning circles, and church lady fundraising because they clearly hate working and no one really likes them. Pushing these upper middle class women into the workforce has been a disaster.

R37 Ellen thinks she can get away with it because her husband is black.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 11, 2021 1:27 AM |
Maybe r51, but at one point our stupid society decided that pretty much every bit of wealth had to go to the top and anyone not at the top just had to suck it up. The only solution was to have both parents working as much as possible. So here we all are, fucked up and bitter and stupid, and pretty much hating every minute of it but terrified of changing.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 11, 2021 1:28 AM |
R53 That is also a betrayal of everything they sold us. Look back at everything from the 1950s and 60s, up until the late 80s. We were told that through technology we would be working much less. That was one thing they used to sell the space race. If the work week was only 15 hours or less, it wouldn't be a problem if both parents worked.

I feel like this is worth a read
My former female boss would either be sued or exposed if she was a man.
She ran a small business, a photo studio, and I was manager.
Three employees, a younger guy in 2019, and two women (one was in her 40’s, the other in her 20’s) in 2020 all came to me on separate occasions about her grabbing them.
She was so egotistical, she was upset when celebrities came into the studio. She was annoyed when Kelly Osbourne came in a few years back and didn’t care about her status and when the The Real Housewives of New York came in to film in the studio last year, she was upset she wasn’t in control. I think it was her attitude that day that got us cut from the episode in the end because she sent e-mails to the producers wanting to know when the show was going to air and all this stuff. She was also annoyed she had to sign a release with the producers.
I actually had to talk her out of sending the photos taken that day from submitting it to an awards thing we do every year because it’s clearly in the release she signed that we weren’t to release anything until the show aired. She wanted to do it out of spite.
While we were waiting for filming, she got bored which means she pulls her Mommie Dearest act (which happened a lot) and started rearranging the studio, had us moving furniture and shit. Just out of anger and spite.
She actually grabbed Ramona Singer by the shoulders too at one point.
She disciplined everyone like they were children. We had to work in a classroom environment where no one was allowed to talk while working unless she was in on the conversation. And it’s not like it was an office or even retail setting and if you weren’t me working on social media or projects I created, there wasn’t much to do and she never trusted anyone to do anything anyways.
But you guys want to walk about micro-management. She would ask you to look something up on the computer, stand behind you and put her hand next to your hand that was on the mouse and would point at the screen and if you went too fast or didn’t do things her way, she’d grab your hand on the mouse and say STOP and get frustrated you didn’t use the computer the way she did (I.E I look at folders by medium icons, she looks at folders in Details).
That was micro-management.
