Is any food more vomitous than pickle loaf?

A childhood friend loved this and would eat it on white bread slathered in mayonnaise that would drip in glops as he ate it.

No mayo, Miracle Whip!

This always terrified me as a child. I didn't realize the colored bits were pickle! I thought they were red and green jello chopped and added to ham.

I like it and the other variations - pickle and pimento loaf, olive loaf, etc.

Try fermented fish and you'll gag, vomit, and die, OP.

I think Olive Loaf is even grosser. Oscar Mayer made that crap in the 1970's.

I can’t decide which ‘head cheese’ I find more disgusting.

What's really weird about it is that it's basically bologna with pickles or olives in it, and nobody I knew ever made bologna sandwiches with pickles or olives.

by Anonymousreply 7October 10, 2021 2:01 PM

that and brownschwigger or however the hell you spell it!...

both beyond gross in looks, smell and taste! GOSH KNOWS what is in them??????????!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 8October 10, 2021 2:03 PM

How do they even go about putting a pickle inside a piece of ham or bologna and make it fit so tightly like a puzzle piece?

by Anonymousreply 9October 10, 2021 2:03 PM

Natto!

r8 Isn't Braunschweiger just liverwurst?

Pickle loaf and olive loaf are fine. "Head cheese" is by far the nastiest thing you'll find at a deli.

As a kid, I used to be grossed out by Mortadella. Now I absolutely love it. It's tough to find it with pistachios in it these days though.

I loved olive loaf as a kid. I'd probably still like it if I still ate meat and didn't think about what it was made of.

by Anonymousreply 14October 10, 2021 3:51 PM

Any pre-packaged mystery meat is gross, but I'm with r5, olive loaf is truly disgusting

How come grandma can’t accept the man inside the other man but she’s fine with the food inside the other food?

My father used to make fried baloney sandwiches with a pickle on the side. Pickles and lunch meat go very well together.

by Anonymousreply 19October 10, 2021 4:46 PM

Balut. Lordy-lordy!

Yes, Ketchup, anything and everything from McDonald's. Cheetos, there are thousands of things more vomitous than meat with pickles.

by Anonymousreply 21October 12, 2021 9:36 AM

Sand. But it’ll do in a pinch.

by Anonymousreply 22October 12, 2021 9:59 AM

Anything billed as 'lunchmeat' is gross. I've never seen that before but it is definitely repulsive.

We used to have this when I was a kid. Never liked it then, but then I never liked baloney or hotdogs either (Oscar Mayer boiled). Dad would eat thinks like pickled pigs feet in a huge jar, then use the leftover juice after the last foot was gone to put a bunch of boiled eggs in to make pickled eggs. This would sit in the back of the fridge and always grossed me out.

by Anonymousreply 27October 12, 2021 1:48 PM

Ugh, I hate this shit; when I was a kid, my mom used to buy this abomination because my dad liked it. I used to put potato chips on pickle loaf sandwich to try & drown out the taste. Yuck!

by Anonymousreply 28October 12, 2021 1:51 PM

Olive loaf is pretty good. It's hard to find in Denver.
