Good God. Who greenlit this? Racism, sexism, ageism, lying, deception - Merry Christmas!

It actually looks fun

Should have cast Bobby Lee.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 8, 2021 1:24 PM |
Or Bobby Trendy
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 8, 2021 1:26 PM |
Why wasn't I cast? I can play straight!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 8, 2021 1:32 PM |
This looks cute. However whatever Nina did to her face isn't. She looks so old now.

Let me quess - they will both redeem themselves so white girl will eventually fall with asian guy.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 8, 2021 3:50 PM |
R7 Shhh. Don't spoil the surprise ending!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 8, 2021 4:36 PM |
And then?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 8, 2021 4:43 PM |
The 30 year-old playing her object of desire plays a teenager on Never Have I Ever.

Building on the Bobby Trendy comment:
They should have made it a gay rom com.
Then Michael Urie could play the stupid bitch and Bobby Trendy could play the catfish.
Then they could win awards from Focus on the Family for proving their point .

r10, That's where I remember him from!
Love Nina Dobrev. The movie looks fun. Thanks for sharing, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 8, 2021 5:23 PM |
Why does the 32 year-old Nina Dobrev look much older?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 8, 2021 5:42 PM |
I don't know. I wasn't around when she was young.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 8, 2021 5:43 PM |

R7 shockingly you were right š

I'll watch this. Considering the anti Asian sentiment on a lot of dating sites the plot at least makes sense.
and it's ultimately just a fresh twist on Cyrano de Bergerac

While Iām 99.9% sure you are right, there was that Kristin Stewart lesbian Christmas movie from last year where she ended up with the āwrongā womanā¦

If the catfisher character played by a good looking white or black guy the film will be accused for romanticize stalking and predatory behavior. Using an unattractive, nerdy and non-threatening Asian guy is a safe logical choice. The movie target demographics are young frau anyway.

Terrible title.

The character knows what he did was wrong. And Nina's character comes off as a creep too.

R21 The girl and catfisher's favorite Christmas movies are Love, Actually and Die Hard. Hence the title.
Can you imagine if the plot were that she's catfished by a guy who's black instead of Asian? "Oh my God, he's BLACK!!" *needle scratch*
No way would that movie get made.

I turned this off when she was singing Meatloaf with her face puffed up from her kiwi allergy. Train wreck of a film.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 14, 2021 2:55 PM |
R21, it's a combination of the favorite Christmas movies of the two main characters, "Love, Actually" and "Die Hard."
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 14, 2021 2:56 PM |
Watching this now and it's quite sweet.
Mike Chang from Glee is in it!

R24 that's the only part that made me laugh.
R26 Harry Shum is great at playing a douchebag.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 15, 2021 2:52 AM |
Did he base his performance on Lea Michele?

by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 15, 2021 11:21 AM |
The Meatloaf performance was inspired!

Stupid title.

If you want to put Love Hard's warm cheesieness into perspective, watch the first 10 minutes of Father Christmas Is Back, a British "comedy" with an "all star cast" also on Netflix.
The film gets its name because of the plotline involving the Christmas family, 4 sisters including Elizabeth Hurley and Talulah Riley, who meet for a fraught Christmas with a surprise arrival of their father (Kelsey Grammar) who left the family 27 years ago and comes back with his young wife. So Father Christmas LITERALLY is back in the lives on the 4 Christmas daughters WHO ARE LITERALLY CALLED CHRISTMAS.
There's a brief mention of a character being a lesbian, and one handsome man who is briefly shirtless but my god how the fuck did it get commissioned?
