She willingly went along with it. Oddly the St Paul newspapers outed this right after the book came out but it never came out. It's very sad because if you read Sybil, it made it seem like she was friendless whilst in reality Shirley Ann Mason (her real name) was very friendly and on good terms with old friends, the black housekeeper that was there when she was young, her college roommates and her stepmother, till the book came out and she immediately cut them all off. I really enjoy listening to some of his shows specifically because I can hear people from other points of view unfiltered. The guests whom I think are nuts don't change my mind on the issues, but they often make an entertaining spectacle of themselves (Alex Jones for example.)

I don't agree with Rogan on a lot of stuff, but I don't want to restrict my media intake to only people who share my views. I want to think about my beliefs and hearing contrary viewpoints lets me analyze why I hold the views I do.

After ABC fired her, she said on a podcast that she had been hit by a car when she was young and that it caused traumatic brain injury and left her with a behavioral disorder. She said in the same interview that she had an early gastric bypass that leaves her chronically malnourished, requiring supplements, and that that contributes to her emotional imbalances and lack of impulse control.

I don't question whether she is mentally ill. I think whatever is wrong with her is more than a personality disorder like narcissism or borderline personality disorder. She probably has one of those types of personality, but she definitely has a serious mental disorder, as well. I don't give in to all her excuses to make her feel like a victim, but I do think ABC knew for sure what it was dealing with when it chose to reboot Roseanne, and the network chose to exploit a borderline psychotic person and paid a price for it.
