Panera's Grilled Mac and Cheese Sandwich

In what world is this even a little bit okay?

by Anonymousreply 76October 8, 2021 11:57 PM

It's ok with me

by Anonymousreply 1October 6, 2021 4:44 PM

[quote] In what world is this even a little bit okay?

WTF? Are you a frau?

by Anonymousreply 2October 6, 2021 4:51 PM

Why add the slices of cheese?

by Anonymousreply 3October 6, 2021 4:52 PM

Not my cuppa tea, but to each his own. Unclench OP.

by Anonymousreply 4October 6, 2021 4:54 PM

I agree with you, OP. My favorite foods are grilled cheese sandwiches and macaroni and cheese, but they do not need to be mixed together. The thought of chunky bits of pasta in my sandwich is disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 5October 6, 2021 4:55 PM

I eat heart stopping sandwiches and even I find this disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 6October 6, 2021 4:57 PM

It sounds like something they'd sell you at the Texas State Fair.

by Anonymousreply 7October 6, 2021 4:57 PM

About as appetizing as a soup sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 8October 6, 2021 4:57 PM

The carbs!

by Anonymousreply 9October 6, 2021 5:05 PM

OP’s life must be boring as shit for him to be so scandalized by something so minor as this.

by Anonymousreply 10October 6, 2021 5:06 PM

This sounds like it would appeal to vegetarians who, in my experience, will eat the worst food combinations to avoid getting another fast food salad.

by Anonymousreply 11October 6, 2021 5:14 PM

I want to know the fat, carbohydrate, and calorie counts.

by Anonymousreply 12October 6, 2021 5:18 PM

The saturated fat grams must be off the charts!

by Anonymousreply 13October 6, 2021 5:22 PM

No fatties, please.

by Anonymousreply 14October 6, 2021 5:28 PM

Got it:

860 calories

42 g fat (24 saturated)

86 g carbohydrates

3 g fiber

Just add a salad and a Diet Coke and you're good to go!

DL won't let me post the link, but it's on the main Panera site as a menu item.

by Anonymousreply 15October 6, 2021 5:29 PM

This should be mandatory, along with the napkins.

by Anonymousreply 16October 6, 2021 5:31 PM

Doesn't appeal to me. Nothing from Panera appeals to me. My brother, after Thanksgiving, used to eat "stuffing sandwiches." No turkey between the bread, just stuffing (which is mainly bread).

by Anonymousreply 17October 6, 2021 6:03 PM

I worked there for six weeks several years ago. The employees fake the temperature checks because actually replacing half the ingredients on the sandwich assembly line would be too hard. You're really gambling when you eat that shit. Also everything there comes from a factory on the other side of the country. It's sub-Subway quality for people who don't know any better. Fuck Panera.

by Anonymousreply 18October 6, 2021 6:09 PM

I was just telling a friend that if that sandwich looks THAT gross on the TV screen, the real thing must be totally barf-worthy.

by Anonymousreply 19October 6, 2021 6:11 PM

Not a fan of their sandwiches.

by Anonymousreply 20October 6, 2021 6:24 PM

I'll try this on a day when I can eat it as my one main meal & just have some fruit or veggies before going back into intermittent fasting. YUM YUM

by Anonymousreply 21October 6, 2021 6:27 PM

OP would like to speak to the manager.

by Anonymousreply 22October 6, 2021 6:43 PM

People who say “veggies” after the age of ten are retarded.

by Anonymousreply 23October 6, 2021 6:43 PM

I was a chubby kid so I loved shit like this. Now I can't stomach it.

by Anonymousreply 24October 6, 2021 6:47 PM

R18 - temperature checks? Please elaborate.

by Anonymousreply 25October 6, 2021 7:18 PM

In what world would a sane person with a life start a thread about it?

by Anonymousreply 26October 6, 2021 7:29 PM

R2 that sandwich sounds exactly like something a frau would serve her family. Herself as well…you know a frau wears those Mom Jeans for a reason…

by Anonymousreply 27October 6, 2021 7:36 PM

I'll have yours, OP.

by Anonymousreply 28October 6, 2021 7:59 PM

Looks like something Rose probably made for herself for dinner each night after her husband died and before she moved in with the other Golden Girls.

by Anonymousreply 29October 6, 2021 11:55 PM

But is it "clean?"

by Anonymousreply 30October 7, 2021 12:08 AM

I would totally try that!

by Anonymousreply 31October 7, 2021 12:47 AM

I saw a billboard for it the other day. It intrigued me and then I was disgusted with myself for being intrigued. Because, for me, being intrigued always leads to consumption.

I imagine I’ll be headed to Panera within the week. We’ll, played, Panera. We’ll played.

by Anonymousreply 32October 7, 2021 2:40 AM

Doesn't someone sell deep fried mac and cheese? That should even be more of a killer.

by Anonymousreply 33October 7, 2021 2:51 AM

Gay vlogger mentioned on Datalounge in the past, Peter Monn, posted a video awhile back where he reviewed it.

by Anonymousreply 34October 7, 2021 3:42 AM

What makes you think he’s gay?

by Anonymousreply 35October 7, 2021 3:51 AM

That guy is disgusting. Eating with his hands and licking his fingers in this COVID environment. Does he want to die?

by Anonymousreply 36October 7, 2021 3:54 AM

Panera must be trying to capture the "disgusting food combo lovers" market. Here's their peach and ham sandwich.

🙄🙄🙄 You must be fun at parties.

by Anonymousreply 38October 7, 2021 3:55 AM

I made one for dinner, it was pretty good...

... and before you start I'm 5'9" and 150lbs

by Anonymousreply 39October 7, 2021 5:31 AM

So eat less the rest of that day and maybe the day after. Big deal. I agree unclench.

That said, Panera sucks - so if I’m going to indulge in a calorie bomb like that I’m gonna make sure it’s good. R15 made me laugh though because that’s totally true.

by Anonymousreply 40October 7, 2021 5:37 AM

R3 Why the cheese slices? Just put M&C between two slices of bread and it'll make the bread soggy and you'll have a mess. But try it and let us know how it turns out.

by Anonymousreply 41October 7, 2021 5:42 AM

[quote] ... and before you start I'm 5'9" and 150lbs

Why would anyone start anything? Who cares? Eat what you want. This is so childish.

by Anonymousreply 42October 7, 2021 7:42 AM

I feel that this needs further investigation. I will buy it tomorrow and submit my Fatty Report to DL.

by Anonymousreply 43October 7, 2021 8:11 AM

@r42, Just to avoid, "Of course you made one because you're fat" I had some leftover Stouffer's Mac & Cheese, so I thought I'd try it. I didn't add cheese slices, but did add some shredded cheddar I had. It was good, but I don't think I'd bother to make it again

by Anonymousreply 44October 7, 2021 8:52 AM

Panera is the most overpriced and overrated place for such plain food (after Shit-fil-A).

by Anonymousreply 45October 7, 2021 8:59 AM

The fellow in the video is so butch.

r25 the ingredients at places like Panera, Chipolte and Subway have to stay within a certain temperature range or bacteria (or some nasty shit, I'm not a scientist) will start growing on the food and make people sick. At Panera employees were supposed to go down the sandwich line and take the temperature of the 30 or so ingredients and make sure they were safe to eat. Nearly all the ingredients would be at a unsafe temperature and since replacing them would be too much work, the employees would write down a bullshit acceptable temperature in the safety log. TLDR: don't eat at Panera.

by Anonymousreply 48October 7, 2021 9:28 AM

^ I don't, but my parents love it, so I take them out to eat there occasionally. They think it's very trendy

by Anonymousreply 49October 7, 2021 9:34 AM

[quote]I'm 5'9" and 150lbs

Oh gurl, get your fat ass to a gym immediately.

by Anonymousreply 50October 7, 2021 11:49 AM

I love Mac and Cheese! It's like a drug, in that one rarely finds the perfect combo of pasta, cheese, and spice.

I doubt this will be that nirvana but I"ll try it once.

by Anonymousreply 51October 7, 2021 12:49 PM

@r50, I knew you were out there somewhere

by Anonymousreply 52October 7, 2021 12:57 PM

It's the savory version of the Cap'n Crunch sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 53October 7, 2021 2:02 PM

OP, you're on a site with fat whores as far as the eye can see and you're asking "In what world?"

by Anonymousreply 54October 7, 2021 2:12 PM

Panera is where clueless Midwestern fraus go to be hip and with it. To them, it's just a bit naughty...a bit edgy.

As for the sandwich, I don't think I'd like the texture. Mushy isn't my favorite texture anyway, and to not be combined with anything that offers even a slight bit of resistance? I'll pass.

And I just thought of another reason not to eat this sandwich. All that cheese may make the phrase "I'll pass" ironic.

by Anonymousreply 55October 7, 2021 3:03 PM

Panera is the most sanitary place I have ever worked for. They really go the extra mile to not get their customers sick. Everything is timed and with stickers and if the time is up, you throw it out! No exceptions. I worked at Domino's. Now, I tell ppl to steer clear from that place.

by Anonymousreply 56October 7, 2021 3:30 PM

Sometimes you need an ooey-gooey, over the top carbs and fat (though I've seen much worse) food product. It fills a void, is comforting in tough times. Nothing wrong with that.

by Anonymousreply 57October 7, 2021 3:53 PM

Don't they have "chip butties" in the UK? I assume it's a potato sandwich.

by Anonymousreply 58October 7, 2021 5:01 PM

Yummers. I bet the kiddos would 💕 this!

by Anonymousreply 59October 7, 2021 5:06 PM

It's a generous sandwich. I would try it, but it's not something I would normally gravitate. I would have to be in the mood for it. It looks very filling, with the bread and macaroni/cheese and would be like a lead balloon in my gut later.

by Anonymousreply 60October 7, 2021 5:08 PM

@r59, go away, your hubbo wants a sandwich... Now

by Anonymousreply 61October 7, 2021 5:12 PM

R48 and R56 should tell us which Panera they both worked at because I'd avoid 48 and eat at 56

by Anonymousreply 62October 7, 2021 5:18 PM

I'm diabetic and cured myself by means of a strict diet and losing 60+ pounds. Funny thing, the appeal of shit like this simply left me. It's repulsive.

About once every two months I allow myself a very good pastry.

by Anonymousreply 63October 7, 2021 5:34 PM

R55 The grilled bread should provide some crunchiness, but yes more would be better. Maybe put some thick crinkle potato chips in with the M&C.

They'll add some needed salt, too.

by Anonymousreply 64October 7, 2021 6:58 PM

I agree with R7. This needs to be dipped in egg, breaded and deep fried.

by Anonymousreply 65October 7, 2021 7:05 PM

R65 It'd be too dry then. Unless you add something like a Thousand Island dressing dip.

by Anonymousreply 66October 7, 2021 7:17 PM

how about pancake syrup?

by Anonymousreply 67October 7, 2021 7:26 PM

Watching you guys discuss this is like being at the Algonquin Round Table - if it were a buffet.

by Anonymousreply 68October 7, 2021 7:52 PM

That’s a booger sandwich, that is.

by Anonymousreply 69October 7, 2021 8:14 PM

I saw the photo of the guy in R34's video and liked his blue eyes and beard. He is my type, but then he opned his mouth....

by Anonymousreply 70October 7, 2021 10:08 PM

R67 I was actually thinking about that but decided the sweetness wouldn't go well with the cheesy stuff. That dressing's got a mild tang that should complement the cheese better. Chacun à son goût. (We're moving towards a veggie and American croque monsieur, aren't we.)

by Anonymousreply 71October 7, 2021 10:21 PM

[quote] I saw the photo of the guy in [R34]'s video and liked his blue eyes and beard. He is my type, but then he opned his mouth....

And..... ? What about his mouth, you homophobic piece of shit?

by Anonymousreply 72October 7, 2021 11:35 PM

Cracker Barrel has fried macaroni and cheese...

by Anonymousreply 73October 7, 2021 11:38 PM

[quote]Cracker Barrel has fried macaroni and cheese...

I've never been to one, but I would've been shocked if they didn't.

by Anonymousreply 74October 8, 2021 1:31 AM

Panera is shit. My SIL raves about the salads, and one time I tried the chicken Caesar with her. The dressing was gloppy and inexplicably sweet. And the “chicken” was spongy, like chunks cut from one of those oval things in the deli case. The greens were okay; mostly romaine with a few leaves of mesclun.

That was the “healthy” option. Everything else was pure carbohydrate.

by Anonymousreply 75October 8, 2021 5:19 PM

Sorry Peter Monn, aka R72, but you are disgusting.
