The Love Boat Musical
I have been down with something for over a week. Going out of my mind staying in bed, and sinking to new depths -to wit watching Love Boat episodes on YouTube. Tonight I came across something, well... indescribable: a musical episode about the filming of a movie musical aboard the cruise ship. Everyone is singing and dancing -all of the regulars (Jill Whelan and Fred Grandy actually have nice voices. ), plus guest stars Ben Vereen, Alexis Smith, Dean Jones, Juliet Drowse, Melba Moore, and Jimmy Osmond. Oh, and there are some original songs...
This is clearly what killed the genre.

Juliet Prowse stole Juliet Drowse's career.

This is my most hated episode of the Love Boat. The music is absolutely terrible. I think it's actually a two-part episode. I posted about it in my Love Boat thread at r319.

I was in Puerto Vallarta with my husband. We were nosing around the Love Boat and followed another couple on board and had a ball - we watched a musical segment being filmed, walked all over. We waved down to our friends who couldn't get on the L Boat. To top off the evening, we literaally almost ran into Loretta Young and her daughter as they were getting out of a cab. Actor Eddie Albert was staying at our hotel.

Lauren Tewes looks like some asked her to swallow tacks in this episode. Sh really looks uncomfortable in her musical number with Jill Whelan. Jill’s hairdo bugged me…it was not unlike the coif of the comic strip heroine Luann’s.

We hung around with Frank Gorshin daily when we were on a L-Boat cruise. He was onboard as a passenger by himself, relatively-recently widowed (I think) at the time. I would have been about 30 going on 75, and was with a 19 year old friend- which was funny, he had the looks of a Versace underwear supermodel and I'm sure everyone, passengers and crew alike, thought he was hired for the trip or something.
