I was in LOVE with Quinton when I was a boy. I wanted to be Nola.

This is so sad.

I watched The Guiding Light for exactly one year, when I was a senior in high school. I would come home from school and saw my sister was watching --so I started and got hooked. It was a great year and The Guiding Light won Best Daytime Drama at the Daytime Emmys. I loved Quint and Nola (as well as Kelly and Morgan!)

wow I didn't know he was that old.

R4 I didn't either, and then realized Lisa Brown (Nola) is 67.

He was a decent enough actor on other shows, but Quinton was a great character, and the initial romance with Nola was something truly magical.

[quote]wow I didn't know he was that old.

I'm surprised by his age, too.

I know I watched AMC while he was on it, but I don't remember any storylines he was involved in. I mostly remember him from the drama of when he and Hunter Tylo split up briefly (before finally divorcing) when she fell in love with a crewmember from a TV movie she did, "The Maharaja's Daughter" and Michael spoke to Soap Opera Digest about it and called the guy a "raghead". It was the first time I heard that slur.

He turn on Guiding Lights was about 40 years ago. So his age makes complete sense--he was in his early 30s.

We just don't want to admit 40 years have passed

I really don’t remember much about his time as Matt on AMC, even though it was “my” soap, other than he was a mercenary or something. I think they brought him on to test as a love interest for Erica but that didn’t pan out and his main storyline was with Nina Cortlandt. It was during that great era with the goings on at Cortlandt Manor, culminating in Ross raping Natalie and Julie running away. Matt and Nina married (I think) but then Cliff turned up alive and Matt was history.

We have to remember that Michael may have been swinging with Kimberlin Brown and her husband. So he was inside Sheila's snatch!

Just took a look at his website and he mentioned quitting smoking a few years back....makes me wonder if he had lung cancer.

by Anonymousreply 11October 6, 2021 9:15 PM

Did they ever find out the official cause of death?

by Anonymousreply 12April 2, 2022 11:53 PM

Again?? God I thought he died a year ago!
