Cleavon Little - he was gay, right?

I thought he was hot in Blazing Saddles. He won a Tony Award and died of "colorectal cancer" in 1992.

He was married for 2 years in the early to mid-70s according to Wikipedia.

Played a flaming queen in Once Bitten with Jim Carey and Lauren Hutton, guilty pleasure viewing.

He was "gifted".

I saw him on Broadway in PURLIE - he was an absolute doll. I don't know if Cleavon was gay but he certainly had sex appeal to spare. What a loss that he died so soon.

Hot hot hot!

by Anonymousreply 4September 29, 2021 11:53 PM

The man was hot af.

He dated a friend’s wife for awhile before they married. Which of course doesn’t mean anything on DL.

by Anonymousreply 6September 29, 2021 11:58 PM

Was she Asian?

by Anonymousreply 7September 29, 2021 11:59 PM

Gay or not, he was sexy and funny. A total winning combination.

by Anonymousreply 8September 29, 2021 11:59 PM

He was a revelation in buckskin with his leather shirt opened deep down his chest.

by Anonymousreply 9September 30, 2021 12:06 AM

He died quite young. It was the AIDS, wasn't it?

by Anonymousreply 10September 30, 2021 12:12 AM

Kudos to R10 for asking the quintessential DL question so early. And extra points for the "the" before "AIDS".

by Anonymousreply 11September 30, 2021 12:21 AM

And he got it because of the homosex?

by Anonymousreply 12September 30, 2021 1:04 AM

We had a radio host in Philadelphia who had no problem saying that Cleavon was bisexual and possibly died from AIDS. The guy talked about movies all day long. Mr. Movies IIRC.

He was funny on the tv show "Temperature's Rising", though that show had like 2 or 3 different revisions and cast changes. I forget if he was on all of them.

I have a friend who was his classmate at the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts way back in the 1960s. Said he was a really genuine guy and very talented. Still gets sad when he thinks about him passing away so young.

by Anonymousreply 15December 16, 2021 3:36 PM

Died from the AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 16December 16, 2021 3:41 PM

Such a talented man and a real loss.

by Anonymousreply 17December 16, 2021 5:11 PM

Gorgeous man and a multi-talented actor.

by Anonymousreply 18December 16, 2021 5:41 PM

I worked with Cleavon on a Broadway Play called ALL OVER TOWN many years ago. He was a gregarious, fun guy and a real team player. I never got a gay vibe from him but he was definitely gay-friendly.
