It's terrible. Sounds like it was made in some teenager's bedroom.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 29, 2021 10:11 PM |
well pardon me, Miss Wagner!

Because in 1981 you were an aging shop-bottom ex cheerleader and this song to you back to your glory days of 1965!

LOL R3, that photo is FAB

You're the dirty blond with classes in middle row, right.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 29, 2021 10:17 PM |
I don't think I ever heard it before, but I do like it, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 29, 2021 10:17 PM |
I think part of it is that the tonal scale feels like it is always ascending. It's uplifting.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 29, 2021 10:21 PM |
The 70s were filled with more of these guilty pleasures
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 29, 2021 10:21 PM |
Paul Davis had a great voice; "I Go Crazy" and "Cool Night" are Adult Contemporary standards.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 29, 2021 10:25 PM |
C- Beach Boys but still catchy as hell
First Class - Beach Baby

OP - Was he singing about having an affair with a 65 year old? Is he single?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 29, 2021 10:42 PM |
R9 that's a great cut I haven't heard in a long time
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 29, 2021 10:42 PM |
Ugly asshole

Fun fact 65 Love Affair went to number 6 in 1982. I Go Crazy his only other top 10 went to number 7 in 1978 but had tremendous staying power. The song was in the top 40 for like six months, something unheard of in those days. Billboard listed it as the number 12 song of 78. So in terms of staying power, IGC is his biggest song despite 65LA going a notch higher.

Leave it to you old hags to find music that I had totally forgotten about (but loved!) . Thats one of my favorite things about DL.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 30, 2021 12:29 AM |
Ah, the adult contemporary hits of 1981/1982! These were the musical artists who were too unhip to be shown on MTV so they had to appear on Solid Gold instead.
This song brings me back to that period too.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 30, 2021 1:33 AM |
"I Go Crazy" was definitely a song that stayed around forever. "Cool Night" and "65 Love Affair" were his other big hits, but I seem to remember another one "Sweet Life", which was really nice.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 30, 2021 1:39 AM |
I adored Little River Band ! This i smy fave, but its hard to choose.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 30, 2021 1:48 AM |
Cool Change is such a great song! As is Cool Night. I want to go sailing at sunset and play early 80s yacht rock
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 30, 2021 1:58 AM |
The Alan Parsons Project - were they the hippest soft rock band ever?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 30, 2021 3:41 PM |
The thing about I Go Crazy and its "staying power" was that it actually was a slow rise up the chart and then a relatively quick drop off:
89 - 78 - 68 - 58 - 47 - 45 - 43- 41- 41 - 37 - 34 - 31 - 29 -28 - 25 - 25 - 23 - 23 - 21 - 21 - 19 - 18 - 16 - 14 - 12 - 11 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 7 - 7 - 28 - 35 - 63 - 63 - 83 - 90 - 95 - 99
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 30, 2021 3:59 PM |
R23 thanks! I was actually going to look up the Billboard charts to trace that songs rise and fall.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 30, 2021 4:23 PM |
Fond memories of listening to Paul Davis, Sheena Easton and Dan Fogelburg on my preferred FM soft rock station in 1982 while playing my Atari š.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 30, 2021 4:45 PM |
Maybe itās because youāre old & cheese filled OP.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 30, 2021 4:53 PM |
I always liked ā65 Love Affairā, OP!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 30, 2021 6:26 PM |
The music at the very start sounds exactly like this song . . . .
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 30, 2021 6:40 PM |
Ah, the sweet spot between not cool enough for MTV and not quite Yatch Rock.
As r18 said, if Dionne introduced them on Solid Gold, they probably belong in this thread
Joey Scarbury "Believe It Or Not"
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 30, 2021 8:40 PM |
Because it's so good in comparison to today's crappy music.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 30, 2021 8:44 PM |
R11, I much prefer this Sky High. Also very high octave. I always thought it was a female until today.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 30, 2021 8:58 PM |
Stupid song.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 30, 2021 9:00 PM |
It always sounded like a song you'd get murdered to in 1982. Like playing from another house next door or something.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 30, 2021 9:04 PM |
Iād forgotten about the donkey dick sucking cheerleader shit at the end of the song. I ran it on YT at double speed to get it over with.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 30, 2021 9:08 PM |
The Alan Parsons Project was prog rock, R22.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 30, 2021 9:11 PM |
Absolute fabulosity, R30! I've always loved that sing, plus Andy Gibb and Marilyn McCoo!
*cums*
Also love this one, an other uplifting ear-worm.
