One of my favorite recipes for pot roast
I posted a comment on the "Boast About Your Roast" thread and some illiterate wrote:
"leave it to cuntastic Greg to highjack a thread were [sic] Bronzie should be the focus. way to go, Greg, you're STILL a fucking selfish twat"
Isn't "Boast About Your Roast" an invitation? Yes, it is. Anyway, I thought I'd start my own thread since I don't want to further provoke this person and his new girlfriend Bronzie.

LOL - my first thought when reading "boast about your roast" was that it was a thread to regale people with tales of "roasting" other people, not for food recipes.

Figs? Jerusalem artichokes? Butternut squash? Not in MY pot roast!

Bronzie is no one's "girlfriend," Greg. He's one of many people's favorite posters. And one of our very favorite DL cooks.

I meant to mention that you can use whatever vegetables you like. I often use potatoes, celery, parsnips, and carrots (sometimes turnip).

Oh wow. Looks like Bronzie has two girlfriends!

Who is Bronzie and why is his name Bronzie. And why is he one of our "very favorite DL cocks?"

I agree with R2. I hate when people add weird stuff just to they can sound "quirky."
"Oh, it's my special pot roast. It is to die for! I added figs!"

Figs aren't "weird." I don't doubt that this recipe would taste great. Anne Burrell's food is always delicious. And, a meal like pot roast can get to be boring with the same old vegetables and seasonings.
That said, I already mentioned that I have not made this recipe with figs, artichokes, and squash and instead went the more traditional route of potatoes, onions, celery, carrots, and parsnips.
What makes this pot roast so good is how the meat is prepared and the liquid used. If you don't want to use Anne's vegetables, use what you like. But do try this recipe.
