The end of an era. I think Craig made an excellent Bond. He will be missed. The movies were good but far and few between though. I don’t know if that is the normal pace, but it seemed to grind to a halt in the last decade.

There have been 26 movies with 12 actors.
Craig will have done 5.
Moore did the most with 7.
Dalton made 2
Brosnan made 4
Connery did 6 or 7 depending on how you count Never Say Never Again.

Michael Fassbender. That's it. He's the one. I'd love to see him do it. Yes. Luke Evans would be ok, but they'd do better to make him a villain.

Barbara Broccoli is the daughter of Albert R. Broccoli, who produced the first 16 Bond movies (from Dr. No in 1962 to Licence to Kill in 1989). Albert claimed that it was a great uncle who brought over the first broccoli seeds from Italy to the US in the 1870s, though I find no other record to support that claim.

by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 28, 2021 6:37 PM |
I'm sure you're correct, r56. I think the Bond team also has an aversion to casting an actor appearing concurrently on a TV show, not just due to scheduling conflicts, but diluting the mystique of the Bond brand. Thus, I suspect Henry Cavill is out of the running, as well.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 28, 2021 6:41 PM |
The producers probably want another action star who can do a lot of stunts.
My pick would be either Jack O’Connell or Jack Reynor. They are young enough to build a new reboot franchise around them.

Back in the old days they wanted Pierce Brosnan who was popular as Remington Steele TV star, but the Remington Steele guys didn't want to let him go, and the role went to Timothy Dalton. Then, many years later way after Remington Steele, Pierce Brosnan got the role starting with Goldeneye.

It’s too bad Idris Elba has aged out because he has the right edge—similar to Connery and Daniel Craig. Tom Hardy could do it. The Bond actor must look young and fit enough for the stunts, performed by the stuntmen, to look convincing. Basically, a Men's Health cover model who can pull off a GQ Quarterly cover look as well. These days, James Bond not only has to sell the role and its franchise, but also men's product merchandise (watches, cars, fragrance, suits, shoes, etc.).

Once again, it will never be non-Brit. Forget all the Aussies too.
There aren't that many options there. It will be someone from this limited list: Aidan Turner, James Norton, Tom Hardy, Richard Madden, Regé-Jean Page, Henry Golding, Sam Heughan, Jack Lowden, Aaron Taylor Jones, Kit Harrington. Jack O'Connell or a complete unknown.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | September 29, 2021 8:06 AM |
Aidan Turner is a non-Brit, hon.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | September 29, 2021 8:11 AM |
It needs to be someone in his early 30s because it's a commitment of 4-5 movies which will take at least 10-15 years to complete.
The guy from Bridgerton would be perfect, not only is he young but he's gorgeous and talented but because there are racists like R156, it may not happen.

R101 I’m not wrong about Fassbender. He’s 44, that’s an old Bond. And not only were all of his lead role films were bombs but even his last superhero movie was a bomb!
People here are saying no to Henry Cavill but he’s around the same age Daniel Craig was when he got his Bond role. Younger than Bronson too.
Henry would bring Bond back to being conventionally beautiful too because while I would bang Craig until he had my baby, he’s not conventionally beautiful and handsome like the other Bond men.
James Bond is a top and Henry’s limited acting abilities could pull that off. Madden and Norton and Hiddleston are power bottoms at best. Like I’d definitely kick Hiddelston and Norton’s ass in fights and I’m a slapper. I wouldn’t mess with Henry, he’s believable.

Richard Armitage, sadly too old, but he combines good looks with the right attitude.

Cavill cannot carry a project. Bond would need an ever present, characterful sidekick for Cavill to make any sense.

Tom Hardy has peaked. Let it go.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | September 29, 2021 1:52 PM |
I told you people last year pre-pandemic that Richard Madden has already been chosen.
It's now just a matter of timing.
For those who say he is too short please call Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible franchise.
His height was considered ideal because it will be easy the frame him with his female co-stars.
That aspect was already addressed at the meetings with him.
Stay tuned for the announcement a little after the latest Bond Film has had it's theatrical run.

You people!?
by Anonymous | reply 173 | September 29, 2021 2:03 PM |
Daniel Craig is quite short.
by Anonymous | reply 174 | September 29, 2021 2:18 PM |
It's not just age that matters it is his look. Sean Connery looked older than his real age when he did Bond. He looked like he was in his early to mid 40's. And Daniel Craig looked older than 38. So maybe the word I'm looking for is "seasoned." or "Worldly." He has to have that extra something. And please take Kit Harington off the list. I love him but he is too short. I still like Fassbender. And BTW: Connery was Scottish. Colin Farrell would've been perfect once upon a time. And I personally think Nicholas Hoult is a really good actor and he would be my dark horse pick. Don't know if Christian Bale would do it. He's not a bad choice, but he was Batman. And Henry Cavill is a no. Truly.
by Anonymous | reply 175 | September 29, 2021 2:19 PM |
These days, it won't be an actor over 40. They want him carrying the franchise for the next 10-15 years. It won't be anybody too well known in another major film franchise or anyone currently committed to a television series.
I agree that Page is a likely choice. Madden would also be a good choice. It won't be Fassbender, Cavill, Hardy, Elba, Hiddleston, or any of that lot. Too old and/or too well known.
by Anonymous | reply 176 | September 29, 2021 2:21 PM |
How old is Barbara Broccoli? Damn. So let's say it takes about 3 years to write and produce a Bond film. Over ten years you'd get three possibly four movies at most. You can't have them coming out too close together. That's quite a commitment.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | September 29, 2021 2:29 PM |

As is James Bond.

by Anonymous | reply 179 | September 29, 2021 2:30 PM |
r178, interestingly, Fleming didn't make Bond Scottish until after he saw Connery in Dr. No and was impressed by his characterization.
Thus far we've had a Scottish Bond (Connery), an Australian Bond (Lazenby), an Irish Bond (Brosnan), and three English Bonds (Moore, Craig, and Dalton).
by Anonymous | reply 180 | September 29, 2021 2:32 PM |
The only issue with Page is the Asian market. They love their white protagonists there, and that's a major consideration for any franchise.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | September 29, 2021 2:37 PM |
Bond will remain you typical British white Caucasian.
This was discussed and making him another ethnicity was rejected.
It was felt audiences would not accept him if he were made of African or Asian descent or female for that matter.
by Anonymous | reply 182 | September 29, 2021 2:58 PM |

I think Bond shouldn't be **too** handsome, actually. Many of the ideas here are fantastic, but some are so conventionally pretty, like Cavill and the like. That's why I think Hardy is a great choice. Sexy and rugged--physical. A physical actor with toughness and sexiness, and not too pretty. I'd look for an actor with a very good resume but who isn't too famous yet--similar to where Craig was when he got it. (So Hardy might be too famous, esp after Venom.) It's a fun game to try and figure it out!

Hardy used to be beautiful. Terrible skin, though. And his face gets very bloated looking sometimes.
I suppose they might go with another "bruiser" looking 007, though. Hardy after Craig would be two of them in a row.

Here's a fairly comprehensive list of hot young British actors (though they left off James McAvoy and this came out before Rege-Jean Page broke through).

I'm not buying the rumor that Bond will be Richard Madden. He's gay. When the stories come out about he and Brandon Flynn living together, it was like he said goodbye to the Bond role. For the very same reason people will not accept a black or biracial James Bond, the international market will have a hard time accepting the Bond Actor taking it up the ass with a man.

Here is a portion of today's NYT interview with Craig. Daniel Craig.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Daniel Craig
At long last, the star of the James Bond franchise bids farewell to 007 with “No Time to Die” (and learns for the first time about his life as an internet meme).
The New York Times By Dave Itzkoff Sept. 30, 2021 Updated 6:15 a.m. ET
More than a year and a half ago, Daniel Craig and I met at the Museum of Modern Art to talk about his final James Bond movie, “No Time to Die,” and bid farewell to that suave superspy he’d been playing since 2006.
When we sat down at our table in a private room at the Modern restaurant, Craig offered me the use of a hand-spray dispenser he was carrying. “That stuff is gold dust,” he said offhandedly. “It’s some crazy thing — people are selling it for like $25 a pop.”
As it turned out, that might have been the most significant part of our interview. We spent the next hour engaged in a polite conversation about the making of “No Time to Die” (which then was scheduled to open in a month), and how pleased he was both with the work he had done and to be finished with his duties.
We said goodbye and two days later, MGM and the producers of the Bond franchise announced they were delaying the release of “No Time to Die” until November, citing their “careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace.” (“This is purely an economic decision we understand, and not one based on growing fears over the coronavirus,” the trade publication Deadline wrote unconvincingly at the time.)"

I still think Hoult's got a chance. He's only 32, which would leave him plenty of time even if the first film didn't start shooting until 2023. He's had a series of girlfriends and fathered a child with his current one, so heterosexual cred is established. He was in the X-Men films but only as a supporting role, and nobody will care at this point that he played Beast. He's currently in The Great, but that's a small series and will likely end in another season or so. He's a good actor with great light comic timing, and women love him. He's perfect.

Height of the actor doesn’t matter that much. You can’t really tell the difference between 5’10” and 6’1” on screen.
by Anonymous | reply 287 | October 1, 2021 6:05 AM |
I hope it's not Madden. I don't find him attractive enough to be Bond. He may have been their choice pre-pandemic but a lot of things have happened since. They can always change their minds.
ITA about Hoult. He has grown into his looks, doesn't have the skinny pretty boy look he had in his 20s, in fact, he's kind of hunky. If you saw the recent Angelina Jolie movie, he played a villain and he looked pretty masculine to me. However, he's really tall, like 6'2 or more.
by Anonymous | reply 288 | October 1, 2021 6:34 AM |
Richard Madden? Really? Does Lydia Lettuce not know that he is not straight? She must have seen the pictures of him and Brandon Flynn, right? Or she doesn't care?
by Anonymous | reply 290 | October 1, 2021 9:40 AM |
Lots of people don't know about Madden. But if he got the role, I think the coverage of his personal life would intensify.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | October 1, 2021 9:43 AM |
Look. Whoever they pick has to have some appeal to the American market. And broader. Who ever it is can't simply be someone who just appeals to the Brits. I think Madden is possible. But don't underestimate Hoult. And then there's Joe Alwyn. Joe would be perfect. Think about it. And he's a very good actor. The problem I have with Hoult, and I really do like him, is that he seems to not have that sort of seething sex appeal that James Bond has.
OK. My List would include: Madden, Page, Michael Fassbender, Michel Huisman, Joe Alwyn, Nic Hoult, and Henry Golding.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | October 1, 2021 1:11 PM |
Hoult doesn't have a good voice, does he?

Fassbender's career has cooled rather, hasn't it?
by Anonymous | reply 294 | October 1, 2021 1:14 PM |
R294, Fassbender has been on a break since he and Alicia Vikander got married...they just had a baby. But as I recall, Daniel Craig wasn't setting the world on fire when they picked him. In fact opinions were divided because the perception of Craig was that he was definitely not top tier, but regarded as a very good character actor.

Craig gave Bond less charm and more grittiness with depth with vulnerability. That will be a hard act to follow.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | October 1, 2021 3:34 PM |
Exactly, r304. I can't see some posh twink like Nicholas Hoult or Rege-page-jean whatever succeeding after the phenomenal popularity of Craig in the role.
by Anonymous | reply 305 | October 1, 2021 4:00 PM |
Well, they can get someone more handsome than Craig. I'm sure there's lots of London stage actors they could pick.
by Anonymous | reply 306 | October 1, 2021 4:11 PM |
Fassbinder may not be old, but he looks old. Simply not right for the part. Hoult is waaaay too boyish. A simply ridiculous suggestion. Requires someone with gravatas. Very few actors have the personal heft Bond requires and the particular suave that Bond requires. Madden will never get it. He blew his chances a while back. Gayness has nothing to do it. He's just too much of a luvvie. And whoever plays Bond has to do a shitload of marketing. The single greatest criticism of Craig's Bond is that it's been too serious: I suspect the next Bond will be written as more playful as per the Marvel series. It certainly needs to lighten up. Killing him in No Time To Die was a betrayal of the character.
by Anonymous | reply 307 | October 1, 2021 4:28 PM |
The only non-controversial choice at the moment would be Tom Hardy, but he's getting on in years, which is always a problem when you're looking at, say, a ten or even fifteen year stretch. People would grumble, as they always grumble when Bond is chosen, but he could perhaps pull it off. But perhaps wouldn't want it. It's a terrible big responsibility.

They'd do well to counterprogram their next Bond and not try to go for a Craig clone. He's been Bond for 15 years, and it's time to take the series in a new direction.

[quote] The single greatest criticism of Craig's Bond is that it's been too serious: I suspect the next Bond will be written as more playful as per the Marvel series.
Agree. This is what occurred before, people wanted a Bond type that was portrayed like the previous Bond, Roger Moore who was playful and lighthearted. Timothy Dalton came in and was more serious and action-oriented. I am not sure why Dalton lasted for only 2 movies. There will certainly be comparisons between a new serious Bond and Craig's Bond. It's better just to switch gears then. There's already too much stress in the world so why not go for a lighter, less serious Bond.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | October 1, 2021 10:20 PM |

R320, after the release of Licence to Kill in 1989, lawsuits involving producer Albert Broccoli, MGM-UA, and potential new owners delayed the next film until the cases were resolved in 1993, by which time Dalton's contract had expired; additionally, response to Dalton's darker interpretation of the character had received a mixed reaction and Barbara Broccoli, now running the Bond empire, decided to return to the lighter characterization of the Roger Moore era, and Pierce Brosnan was perfect for that.
by Anonymous | reply 323 | October 2, 2021 12:13 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 324 | October 2, 2021 12:17 AM |
Well in the 2000’s with James Bond and Batman, action / blockbusters had more serious tones that went with good writing and great acting performances.
Today it’s more about good writing but with lighter tones because of Deadpool Thor Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy and the new Suicide Squad.
But I also feel like a campy James Bond is simply Austin Powers, no?
by Anonymous | reply 325 | October 2, 2021 12:33 AM |

I'm betting on Tom Hardy. The producers had a better experience with a real actor like Daniel Craig than they did with handsome cardboard cutouts like Pierce Brosnan.

After Sean Connery, there have been two distinct kinds of Bonds:
1. Grim brooding Bonds (George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Daniel Craig)
2. Debonair playboy Bonds (Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan)
One of the reasons I think Sean Connery was the best of all of them was that he embodied both sides to Bond.
I'd like to see someone else who can deliver a good quip and recommend a fancy haberdasher, but who doesn't seem as fey as Roger Moore; and someone who is sexy and violent, but not as brutish as Daniel Craig.

You know, starting in 1996, Tom Cruise started grinding out the Mission Impossible movies. Then in 2002, Jason Bourne showed up. Now Both Cruise and Matt Damon are getting older. Cruise in particular. Yet his MI 7 & 8 are both in the pipeline, one in post and the other in pre production. Bourne, of course is no more. But Bond took a hit from both of them. I don't see anything vaguely competitive out here right now. So they can reband with someone younger but who still has that edge and really do some creative things with the Franchise.

Absolutely agree. Bond is HUGE is asia, and it would not play well. They respect and adore every aspect of Anglo-Saxon and Teutonic beauty which has become so ridiculously slandered and discounted in the West, and it's a big box office draw in itself. To give a single example: the banal Lea Seydoux, who barely registers in the West (as someone said, her expressions vary from moody to sulky), is considered a very great Botticelli beauty there. Craig's blue eyes are constantly praised.

There is no way in hell the Bond franchise will pick the guy who plays Venom right now. They will rather go with a "blank slate" than someone whose past big blockbuster roles may overshadow the Bond franchise. Apart from Venom he also played Bane in the Christopher Nolan Batman franchise.
I would be incredibly surprised if the Bond producers go for any guy who had a flashy leading role in a blockbuster franchise in recent years. Even someone like Matt Smith, who played the iconic Doctor Who many years ago, would be a total shock to me.
Also, some suggest actors who are attached to TV shows which are still filming and releasing new seasons. No way would the Bond producers be ok with working around some TV show's schedule. Craig was only able to do and commit to Knives Out, because they made sure it wouldn't interfere with anything Bond related (including PR promotion). Bond would have to come first. And, like in Pierce Brosnan's case, it's not like TV shows are happy to let go guys to do greater things even though they still are under contract.

It's kind of amazing that an international behemoth like the James Bond franchise is run like a family operation.
Fleming picked the right people to bring his creation to the screen. And they’ve handled it with dignity and respect and kid gloves, a dollop of class, and a shrewd eye and clever marketing; the movies generally live up to the hype — there’s always something fresh yet consistent to see in a James Bond picture.

This is a typical male franchise that women are attracted to. You do want a straight female perspective on the actor's ability to attract that audience. Like Daniel Craig - kinda ugly in a Bronson way - but very sexually attractive. Beta males are not wanted.

Roger Moore was coming from The Saint and The Persuaders. The Broccolis attempted and failed to hire Pierce Brosnan when he was still doing Remington Steele. So, no.
I like some of the choices here. I'd like to add Dominic Cooper to the lineup.

R380, I was referring to an actor doing a TV show concurrently with Bond; Moore had already completed The Persuaders when he was hired for Live and Let Die; and the reason Brosnan didn't get Bond in 1986 was because NBC changed their mind about cancelling Remington Steele when it was leaked that Broccoli wanted Brosnan - but only if the show was done.
by Anonymous | reply 383 | October 3, 2021 9:13 PM |
R383 I don't think the fact that an actor has been on a TV show dilutes the Bond mystique though, and I don't think the Broccolis think that, either. But... I think they're inclined to hire actors who don't have star stamped on their names. So, no Cavill, or Hardy, or Fassbender, or Bloom or anyone of that magnitude. And in the age of Marvel, I doubt they'll hire someone who's been playing a superhero for the last 10 years.

We know that Craig's Bond was not the one who had the adventures of Goldfinger or Moonraker or The Living Daylights or Tomorrow Never Dies in the 60s/70s/80s/90s. The man is not immortal. They just start over with a new actor and go from there.
by Anonymous | reply 405 | October 4, 2021 5:27 PM |
r405, it's like with Marvel or DC where there are multiple earths. Craig, Moore, & Connery played Bonds who fought a crime organization called S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Just not the very same one.
by Anonymous | reply 406 | October 4, 2021 5:41 PM |
I think of Connery, Lazenby, and Moore as all the same Bond -- all connected by the death of Tracy. Can't recall if Tracy is mentioned in the Dalton Bonds, and I don't recall her being mentioned in the Brosnan Bonds, so I could imagine Dalton and Brosnan playing a different Bond, and then Craig playing a third Bond.

Here's the Next James Bond Odds from a betting site, oddschecker.com-

Clive Standen – 4/1
Rege-Jean Page – 6/1
James Norton – 8/1
Henry Cavill – 10/1
Idris Elba – 10/1
Lashana Lynch – 12/1

by Anonymous | reply 411 | October 4, 2021 7:15 PM |
^^ This is a preposterous list created by "lay" persons who clearly know nothing about the Bond franchise. Betting on the biggest movie stars in England is absurd considering the producers never hired the big name to play Bond in the past, much less a big star like Hardy who's already engaged in a superhero franchise. Disregard.

Clive Standen - I completely forgot about Vikings. He was very very sexy and cool. He may be too "manly" and not suave looking enough.

A different betting site (US-Bookies) has suspended betting on the next James Bond because
[quote] The next 007 is one of the biggest talking points in cinema and now oddsmakers firmly believe Tom Hardy has been chosen as the next actor for the role and are stopped taking bets on who will be the next James Bond. Hardy's odds were slashed from 5/1 to 1/3 before oddsmakers pulled the plug on the market after bets came pouring in on the Dark Knight actor, which means an official announcement could be just around the corner.
But what if Barbara Broccoli is a DL-type contrarian? Then all bets off.

Tom Hardy playing Venom AND Bond? Yeah, sure, after the commercial success of the latest Venom movie the Marvel guys really just drop Hardy, so he can be Bond for a decade or two. *rollingeyes*
Ben Hardy has a higher chance to be the next Bond than Tom. And even that is a fat chance of ever happening.
by Anonymous | reply 431 | October 5, 2021 9:55 AM |
It's not a new Bond. Didn't they show Honey Ryder's diving belt and knife in one of the Brosnan or Craig Bonds. The Lazenby Bond even worked the previous movies into the title sequence. It's the same James Fucking Bond, a man in his 30s/40s.
by Anonymous | reply 432 | October 5, 2021 10:29 AM |
The article about Hardy was written over 1 year ago. There was another article written this year how the new actor should be under 35 years of age.
by Anonymous | reply 433 | October 5, 2021 10:34 AM |
But it's not the same crime organisation. The writers can't even claim that it's the same one under new direction since they very much established that it was started by a personal enemy of Craig's Bond gloating that he killed Vesper from Casino Royale. I guess some easter eggs were just some fan service but not meant to be canon.

How is Connery's Bond connected to Tracy? Lazenby met and married Tracy and watch her die. Moore visited her grave.

Connery is seeking vengeance for Tracy's death in Diamonds Are Forever.
Tracy is referred to twice in the Moore Bonds, in The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only.

It's hard to appreciate how HUGE the franchise is internationally. Here's a video of the premiere of No Time To Die in Lagos. Lagos? Where the fuck is that in Africa? by Anonymous | reply 448 | October 22, 2021 9:09 AM |
I think Richard Madden landing The Eternals, may foreclose any opportunity to be considered for Bond. Jai Courtney would make a fine Bond villain but he is definitely second tier. They need someone spectacular. Or someone they can build into spectacular. Hardy seems used up. He has Venom, anyway. Rege'-Jean Page would not be a bad idea. But I still hope Madden, Henry Golding, and Joe Alwyn remain on the table.

by Anonymous | reply 454 | October 22, 2021 4:41 PM |
Who plays Bond is really important. You have had the Bourne series, and of course John Wick, and Tom Cruise MI series, and other action stars, and Bond has competition now that didn't exist when it belonged to Sean Connery, Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan. So Bond has to be interesting, unconventional. Smart. Daniel Craig did that. His successor will have to do even more, so they have to be someone that can build on and move the franchise forward.
by Anonymous | reply 455 | October 22, 2021 5:04 PM |

We know damn well it's gonna be a woman of color, or perhaps a trans woman of color. And it's probably already been decided who it is, but it will be sprung as a big "surprise" to revitalize the tired franchise.
And this will provide weeks of fuel for the usual suspects, right and left, to rant. In other words, free publicity.
And all social justice-minded people will have to go see it to prove they're open-minded. And all conservative people will have to avoid it to prove that get woke = go broke.
And the usual SJW activists will find some reason to rage against it.
And after all that, it'll be thoroughly mediocre and forgettable.

Who is Clive Standen? I wish I could put a baby in him.
R426 I think Madden ruined his chances by being too quiet. He seemed to have been moving up but he’s burned out since The Eternals. There was a buzz around him during The Bodyguard and the Elton John movie but it’s died down completely.

by Anonymous | reply 494 | October 24, 2021 3:54 AM |
Given they come out at 3 year intervals (usually), and Babs naturally would want someone who could carry the franchise as long as Craig, you're looking at someone no older than 35, and preferably younger to drag in that demographic. There's no way Fassbinder would be cast at 44. Craig did Casino Royale at 38, which was already older than desireable for his 15 year run.
The trades are saying the budget is likely to be cut to $200m for the next movie, given the risk of a new face, and risk generally. In an interview the art director of NTTD said the cost of hiring the 007 soundstage at Pinewood is eyewatering even before you start building anything in it, and I think they used six or eight stages in all.
by Anonymous | reply 495 | October 24, 2021 12:56 PM |

He's gone back in the closet yet brings Froy on private jets? He didn't get his co-star to take down that Instastory. He's glass closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 538 | October 28, 2021 12:47 AM |
Froy will play BoiPussy Galore
by Anonymous | reply 539 | October 28, 2021 1:21 AM |
No. His character name should be a tacky reference to his Mexican/Spanish background.

It won't be Madden. For all the reasons listed above AND his Eternals gig, it won't be him. It won't be Rege Jean Page, either.
It will be some thirtysomething white Brit actor with a few good roles but no serious franchise ties, and oodles of heterosexual cred via a wife or series of girlfriends.
by Anonymous | reply 542 | October 28, 2021 4:23 PM |
It will be Dean Charles Chapman.
by Anonymous | reply 543 | October 28, 2021 4:25 PM |
Dean Charles Chapman looks like he's 14
by Anonymous | reply 544 | October 28, 2021 5:26 PM |
R542 just described Joe Alwyn.
by Anonymous | reply 546 | October 29, 2021 3:26 PM |
If Alwyn gets Taylor Swift AND Bond, Tom Hiddleston is going to have him killed.
by Anonymous | reply 547 | October 29, 2021 3:38 PM |
Alwyn is so bland-looking. There's nothing distinctive about his features. He's handsome in the way that those computer-generated "average Englishman" pictures are.
by Anonymous | reply 548 | October 29, 2021 3:49 PM |
Alex Russell. Rugged and purty.
by Anonymous | reply 549 | October 29, 2021 4:12 PM |
I don't think Alwyn is bland looking, and he is a very good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 550 | October 29, 2021 6:08 PM |
Alwyn doesn't come across as tough enough for me.
by Anonymous | reply 551 | October 29, 2021 6:32 PM |
And you thought Pierce Brosnan was?
by Anonymous | reply 552 | October 29, 2021 6:40 PM |
He comes across as tougher than Alwyn, at least
by Anonymous | reply 553 | October 29, 2021 6:41 PM |
I don’t think they’ll go back to debonair yet. Anyway, some of these guys have two years to bulk up.
by Anonymous | reply 554 | October 29, 2021 8:56 PM |
Will Payne or David Witts
by Anonymous | reply 555 | October 29, 2021 9:36 PM |
Tom Bateman. But he'd have to bulk up. He doesn't seem the type who'd enjoy being tied down to that franchise. Same with James Norton. He'd be a really good choice, though.
by Anonymous | reply 556 | October 29, 2021 9:42 PM |
I thought of Orlando Bloom today and he wouldn't be half-bad, except he can't act.
by Anonymous | reply 557 | November 12, 2021 9:19 PM |
They'll cast a trans, or a female, to avoid the protests.
by Anonymous | reply 558 | November 12, 2021 9:20 PM |
R558 must live in a parallel universe where trans actors are being cast in action movie leads. The freepers here never stop looking for excuses to bitch about trans people
by Anonymous | reply 559 | November 12, 2021 9:22 PM |
Have you seen Orlando lately? No.
by Anonymous | reply 560 | November 12, 2021 9:32 PM |
Orlando is looking hard for some reason…
by Anonymous | reply 561 | November 13, 2021 7:12 PM |
They should at least cast Orlando's dick.
by Anonymous | reply 562 | November 13, 2021 7:18 PM |
Doesn’t he have the herpes?
by Anonymous | reply 563 | November 13, 2021 7:22 PM |
Stop pretending it won't be Cavill
by Anonymous | reply 564 | November 14, 2021 12:18 AM |
Orlando's dick is so fine. I vote for that.
Cavill is a bore and is already associated with tons of other big characters.
I think the Craig model is the way they will go--a known, up-and-coming, well-respected young actor who is really "male". It won't be anyone remotely "pretty" or boyish.

LICENSE TO KILL had the best Bond theme song. Thanks to Gladys Knight

I think Pegler is a possibility…lower right hand of photo. The body and the mustache makes him look like sex on a stick.
by Anonymous | reply 567 | November 14, 2021 7:16 PM |
Pegler is a dreadful name. What is his mother's maiden name?
by Anonymous | reply 568 | November 14, 2021 8:12 PM |
Who is this Pegler guy? He's hot
by Anonymous | reply 569 | November 14, 2021 8:13 PM |
Girls! Hoult is way too baby-faced and Bateman is cross-eyed.
Joe Alwyn? Looks like he couldn't kick a cat properly never mind play a gun-wielding international sex symbol assassin, plus all that Taylor Swift baggage - there is such thing as "too famous" a partner and she is it. You don't want WAGS overshadowing the main actor.
Clive Standen looks interesting but as stated he'd need to lean out, lose a few pounds. He could do it. Hardy is a great actor but has the Venom thing, would audiences go for a Bond who's also currently playing a vicious cannibal horror alien? Plus he hates doing press and the gobs of media appearances won't be his thing.
Hiddleston loves press and would adore all the hullabaloo and media circus every few years, but he's not right for the part (not butch enough).
I love Idris and think the Bridgerton guy could pull it off, but it needs to be re-stated that producers won't risk alienating the Asian market, and they won't go for a non-white Bond.
Someone mentioned Bale: way too old, he's turning 48 in a few weeks and looks every bit of it. Too brooding, plus he's insulted the role in interviews in the past. Too affiliated with Batman, plus he wouldn't be tied to the filming schedule which would interfere with his indie roles and serious acting career.
I hate to say it, it's not my first choice but: Cavill ticks off many of the boxes, esp for Broccoli who I believe wants to keep the upper-crusty, white handsome male Brit thing going. If they can get Chris McQuarrie to direct, it could be a decent throwback to the action-y but lighter/suaver Brosnan-era Bond, which I where I feel BB wants to go. McQuarrie did wonders with Henry in the MI films and they got on very well.
by Anonymous | reply 570 | November 14, 2021 8:22 PM |
Brosnan has charm. He has some range. Cavill has none.
by Anonymous | reply 571 | November 14, 2021 8:29 PM |
Cavill was Superman and, worse yet, Napoleon Solo in a Bond spoof super agent movie that megaflopped, plus he's a very limited actor.
by Anonymous | reply 572 | November 14, 2021 9:18 PM |
He's also toplining another spy spoof for Matthew Vaughn. There's no prestige nor new discovery aspect to Cavill.
by Anonymous | reply 573 | November 14, 2021 9:19 PM |
I'm looking for a comeback!
by Anonymous | reply 574 | November 14, 2021 9:31 PM |
Henry Golding?
Cavill is not interesting. At all.
by Anonymous | reply 575 | November 14, 2021 9:54 PM |
Apparently, there have been lots of betting activities in recent days on Tom Hopper being the chosen one.

James Norton would be better than Hopper
by Anonymous | reply 578 | November 14, 2021 10:14 PM |
Most of the pictures I've seen of Clive Standen feature scruff or a beard. He doesn't look as good when he's clean-shaven, so I don't know if that's a problem. (This is not a recent picture, but it's fairly Bond-like.)
by Anonymous | reply 579 | November 15, 2021 12:02 AM |
I hear a whisper in the inner circles that Chris Hemsworth is a frontrunner if the one already chosen falls through..
Australians are as good as British with regard to Bond.
You heard it here first!
by Anonymous | reply 580 | November 15, 2021 11:55 PM |
I doubt Chris is in with a chance.
by Anonymous | reply 581 | November 15, 2021 11:57 PM |
Craig isn't tall so... what about Jon Snow? Didn't he do an espionage movie before?
by Anonymous | reply 582 | November 15, 2021 11:58 PM |
If you’re referring to Kit Harrington, he’s now in the MCU, so he’s out.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | November 16, 2021 12:02 AM |
Jon Snow aka Kit Harrington is like 5'4".

Is that her real name Barbara Broccoli? Is she married, did she have a choice to take his name or keep hers. I don't care about James Bond at the moment I just want to understand why she goes by Broccoli.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | November 16, 2021 12:35 AM |
James Norton has Diabetes Type 1. I wonder how that affects him when he does actions scenes. I know one of the complaints from Craig was that the Bond role was physically demanding.
by Anonymous | reply 586 | November 16, 2021 12:40 AM |
Roger Moore would send in the stunt men for anything more strenuous than getting out of a car.

And the American people will never elect a Black president.
Give it a break, will you? Asians will take whatever entertainment sent their way; besides, who loves basketball and the NBA more than the Chinese?
I swear some of you will play the race card in the middle of a game of tiddly winks.

[quote] Asians will take whatever entertainment sent their way; besides, who loves basketball and the NBA more than the Chinese?
It depends. China banned Marvel's Shang-Chi (with its all-Asian cast) because they said it made China look bad and America look good although that's up for debate. China also bans effeminate men which means Bond cannot be gay and probably not played by a gay actor (hello Richard Madden).
About China not accepting a Black Bond, that may not be true. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is extremely popular in China. Even his bombs make money there. Johnson is half-black.
[quote] In the last decade, the former professional wrestler has become one of the most popular and consistently bankable American stars in China, a brawny and exuberant leading man who powers hits like “San Andreas,” “Rampage,” and the “Fast and Furious” sequels.

R570 Where are you getting this? First of all, she said she's been in denial, putting the whole decision off for a as long as possible. And if you look at where they went with choosing Craig, it was a departure. Truth is, nobody knows where BB wants to go, including BB, herself.
[quote]If anything, Broccoli and Wilson’s experience with Craig has emboldened them to shake up the Bond formula.
by Anonymous | reply 590 | November 16, 2021 6:45 AM |
I would bet your inheritance that The Rock is not perceived as in any way black by the Chinese.
by Anonymous | reply 591 | November 16, 2021 11:10 AM |
I think that they should go with an Australian this time. The current crop of Aussie actors are all cute, buff and quite masculine.
by Anonymous | reply 592 | November 16, 2021 12:52 PM |
I’d second Luke Pegler but he’s not that well known. Not outside of Australian movies.

OK. All the names that have been floated and I haven't seen Max Irons name and at 36 he'd be a perfect Bond...Maybe he could get his father to play a Bond villain. Jeremy is brilliant.
