I love Andie Macdowell

by Anonymousreply 1September 26, 2021 11:01 PM

Jesus, why did they put MJW in that tight little dress?

by Anonymousreply 2September 26, 2021 11:04 PM

I thought Paul Hilton was going to win it

by Anonymousreply 3September 26, 2021 11:11 PM

Congrats, Antoine.

by Anonymousreply 4September 26, 2021 11:11 PM

Guess it's not going to be a Slave Play sweep.

by Anonymousreply 5September 26, 2021 11:12 PM

Did Aaron Tveit bring a "date"?

by Anonymousreply 6September 26, 2021 11:15 PM

Yay! for Lois.

by Anonymousreply 7September 26, 2021 11:16 PM

Ruthie Ann Miles is gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 8September 26, 2021 11:22 PM

"What I Did for Love" always chokes me up a little.

by Anonymousreply 9September 26, 2021 11:28 PM

Who won Featured Actor in a Play?

by Anonymousreply 10September 26, 2021 11:30 PM

Why does R6 have date in quotation marks? Aaron isn't gay, despite your wishful thinking.

by Anonymousreply 11September 26, 2021 11:32 PM

What is the eligibility period of this years’ nominees?

Since Jake Gyllenhaal is attending tonight, I’m willing to bet he already won.

by Anonymousreply 12September 26, 2021 11:32 PM

News flash to OP: It's EDT, not EST.

by Anonymousreply 13September 26, 2021 11:32 PM

These special Tony Awards are so pointless.

by Anonymousreply 14September 26, 2021 11:38 PM

14 posts 40 minutes in proves how much even the gays don’t care

by Anonymousreply 15September 26, 2021 11:40 PM

Or that some of us, despite signing up for Paramount+ today, can’t figure out how to access it!

by Anonymousreply 16September 26, 2021 11:43 PM

I had to search Tony Awards - that was the only way I could find it.

by Anonymousreply 17September 26, 2021 11:45 PM
"What I Did for Love" always chokes me up a little.

Me too--it always makes me think of heterosexual girls consenting to do anal.

by Anonymousreply 18September 26, 2021 11:45 PM

That is me, r16. I was trying to access from an Amazon prime channel of Paramount plus, and I cannot find it.

by Anonymousreply 19September 26, 2021 11:46 PM

It looks like a sweep in the making for Moulin Rouge.

by Anonymousreply 20September 26, 2021 11:46 PM

Revision, even the OLD gays don’t care

by Anonymousreply 21September 26, 2021 11:47 PM

r16 r19 Go to paramountplus.com, create an account name and password, and then sign in.

by Anonymousreply 22September 26, 2021 11:48 PM
I was trying to access from an Amazon prime channel of Paramount plus, and I cannot find it.

I clicked on channels on Prime Video -- Paramount came up and the Tonys were the first option listed.

by Anonymousreply 23September 26, 2021 11:49 PM

I wonder how Karen Olivo feels about all the Moulin Rouge clips showing her. No pee break

by Anonymousreply 24September 26, 2021 11:50 PM

I tried to sleep with that Justin Townsend - but I couldn't turn him! :*(

by Anonymousreply 25September 26, 2021 11:52 PM

R17, same here -- I signed up for Paramount+ today just for this, but when I went onto the opening page, it was nowhere to be found (because the front page is covered in all of CBS's shows). I finally had to put "Tonys" into the search box in order to get it to come up.

by Anonymousreply 26September 26, 2021 11:53 PM

Damn, "Christmas Carol" is doing great tonight.

by Anonymousreply 27September 26, 2021 11:53 PM

Christmas Carol is going to wind up with the most awards.

by Anonymousreply 28September 26, 2021 11:53 PM

Was A Christmas Carol a British import? Is that why none of the creatives could be bothered to attend?

by Anonymousreply 29September 26, 2021 11:54 PM

I am reading that the cast of jagged little pill has quit and will not perform on the broadcast. It is all over twitter

by Anonymousreply 30September 26, 2021 11:56 PM

Oh god I sense Datalounge COMING FOR Jennifer Nettles.

by Anonymousreply 31September 26, 2021 11:56 PM

I love that A Christmas Carol is winning all the awards - it's about as unwoke as you can get.

by Anonymousreply 32September 26, 2021 11:57 PM

Jennifer Nettles has just agreed to perform ALL the roles in the Jagged performance

by Anonymousreply 33September 26, 2021 11:57 PM

R29 Yes, opened at the Old Vic

by Anonymousreply 34September 27, 2021 12:01 AM

Two winners on stage at a time? Let's hope Jagged Little Pill doesn't win best musical -- it has 42 producers.

by Anonymousreply 35September 27, 2021 12:05 AM

Seeing this masked audience makes me realize how tough it must be for performers right now not seeing the crowds’ facial expressions.

by Anonymousreply 36September 27, 2021 12:05 AM

What I did for love .... I now do for $60 ...

Isn't that cute? Isn't that true?

by Anonymousreply 37September 27, 2021 12:06 AM

Why didn’t they do this at an outside venue?

by Anonymousreply 38September 27, 2021 12:06 AM
Two winners on stage at a time? Let's hope Jagged Little Pill doesn't win best musical -- it has 42 producers.

There are many many Many other reasons to hope Jagged doesn’t win, including it sucks

by Anonymousreply 39September 27, 2021 12:07 AM

Oh, for fuck's sake

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 40September 27, 2021 12:08 AM
Why didn’t they do this at an outside venue?

Because that would signal that being inside a theatre is not safe at a time when Broadway is welcoming back audiences.

by Anonymousreply 41September 27, 2021 12:09 AM

"As a brown, queer, Arab-American woman I didn't always feel welcome." Blergh. I wish people would stop painting the American (or British, for that matter) as a closed door as if the past 25 years haven't happened. They have got to stop this go-to line, as if there is a monolithic group keeping out minority voices and marginalized cultures. It's just not real.

by Anonymousreply 42September 27, 2021 12:10 AM

The trans activists are so tiresome.

by Anonymousreply 43September 27, 2021 12:11 AM

^^American. . . theater^^, that is.

Now, "an industry that wasn't built for us." Do I need to stop watching this ridiculous parody of being socially aware? I wish they had the nerve to speak to people in a hostile environment.

by Anonymousreply 44September 27, 2021 12:12 AM

Did he just use “vision” as a verb?

by Anonymousreply 45September 27, 2021 12:14 AM

How did Lauren Patten manage to win a Tony when she's personally responsible for the deaths of hundreds of trans people? You'd think the voters would hold that against her.

by Anonymousreply 46September 27, 2021 12:14 AM

And WHOOGHSOWHSOHWOOOO as a noun

by Anonymousreply 47September 27, 2021 12:15 AM

Daldry!!! Yay, and well-deserved.

by Anonymousreply 48September 27, 2021 12:16 AM

You know DLers aren't watching when nobody's yet attacked Debra Messing.

by Anonymousreply 49September 27, 2021 12:17 AM

Stephen Daldry wins for direction of a play. I hope that means "The Inheritance" will also win for best play.

by Anonymousreply 50September 27, 2021 12:18 AM

Kenny Leon looked PISSED when the white guy won.

by Anonymousreply 51September 27, 2021 12:20 AM

I'm torn between two lovers.

The Tony Awards or Packers v. 49ers?

I know! I'll jump in bed with both!

by Anonymousreply 52September 27, 2021 12:21 AM

Sheryl Lee Ralph’s comment about never missing a performance. Hmmm….

by Anonymousreply 53September 27, 2021 12:24 AM

Good Lord, could this woman chew the scenery any harder?

by Anonymousreply 54September 27, 2021 12:25 AM

Maybe it was a diss on JH, who missed quite a few, including the one I saw.

by Anonymousreply 55September 27, 2021 12:26 AM

I never liked this song.

by Anonymousreply 56September 27, 2021 12:26 AM

Did that lead actor who was the only nomination win, or was he cancelled?

by Anonymousreply 57September 27, 2021 12:26 AM

That guy must be terrified as scary-skinned Jennifer touches his face. It’s like the vampire zombies attacking on AHS.

by Anonymousreply 58September 27, 2021 12:27 AM
I never liked this song.

Conversely, it gives me (good) chills every time I see her perform it.

by Anonymousreply 59September 27, 2021 12:27 AM

R53 I think she meant she never didn’t watch Jennifer do the song, not that she never missed a performance

by Anonymousreply 60September 27, 2021 12:30 AM

I saw her in the original run of DREAMGIRLS - it really was a million dollar moment.

by Anonymousreply 61September 27, 2021 12:30 AM

^^^ Well, it should. She has been practising for 40 years.

by Anonymousreply 62September 27, 2021 12:30 AM

R61, you're so lucky. I am seeing Jennifer in concert in a couple of weeks.

by Anonymousreply 63September 27, 2021 12:32 AM

Andrew Burnap for best actor. Shock of the year!

by Anonymousreply 64September 27, 2021 12:36 AM

Thank goodness, I would have felt so bad for Aaron if he didn't the trophy.

by Anonymousreply 65September 27, 2021 12:37 AM

I'm sure Aaron would have jumped out a window if he didn't win..I would have

by Anonymousreply 66September 27, 2021 12:38 AM

Quite a nose job on that Burnap gurl.

by Anonymousreply 67September 27, 2021 12:38 AM

There’s one bitch in the audience who keeps pulling her mask forward to scream

by Anonymousreply 68September 27, 2021 12:41 AM

How long before #TonysSoWhite?

by Anonymousreply 69September 27, 2021 12:42 AM

R69 It's already in JOH's drafts. But can't help but feel they're teasing an Inheritance win only to snatch it away at the last minute.

by Anonymousreply 70September 27, 2021 12:43 AM

So Slave Play has won nothing yet?

by Anonymousreply 71September 27, 2021 12:43 AM

I never though I would live to see the day when a winner could stay onstage as long as they want, babble as long as they want and not get the musical cue to leave. Too much information, guys.

by Anonymousreply 72September 27, 2021 12:44 AM

Burnap deserved it.

by Anonymousreply 73September 27, 2021 12:48 AM

An awards show ending 10 minutes early?

by Anonymousreply 74September 27, 2021 12:49 AM

An awards show that finished ahead of time? Astounding!

by Anonymousreply 75September 27, 2021 12:49 AM

Not as horrible as I was expecting, but I still rolled my eyes more than a few times.

by Anonymousreply 76September 27, 2021 12:52 AM

Well thank fuck Olivo didn't win

by Anonymousreply 77September 27, 2021 12:52 AM

Did you like the shortened show or now that you've seen it, do you miss the bloated, though often fun, mess that it was?

by Anonymousreply 78September 27, 2021 12:53 AM

It’s not shortened, it went from 3 hours to 4. 2 and 2

by Anonymousreply 79September 27, 2021 12:56 AM

But all the major winners are in that two hours, instead of spread out over a longer time.

by Anonymousreply 80September 27, 2021 12:57 AM

10 minutes early. I guess if the Christmas Carol folks had shown up, they would have been on mark.

No wonder they let those winning actors blather on & on.

by Anonymousreply 81September 27, 2021 12:57 AM

Can’t wait to see the crowd welcome Ben Platt to the stage

by Anonymousreply 82September 27, 2021 12:59 AM

For all of Celia Rose Gooding's outrage about harm to the non-binary community, she sure had her tits on display.

by Anonymousreply 83September 27, 2021 1:02 AM

Have we all switched over to CBS and Bernie’s bosoms?

by Anonymousreply 84September 27, 2021 1:16 AM

David Byrne was great and this Moulin Rouge number is pretty fun.

by Anonymousreply 85September 27, 2021 1:18 AM

MR is loud and tedious.

by Anonymousreply 86September 27, 2021 1:23 AM

Hmmmm......Lea Salonga wearing an old Ann Sothern outfit.

by Anonymousreply 87September 27, 2021 1:23 AM

It may very well be, R86, but that number worked on TV.

by Anonymousreply 88September 27, 2021 1:25 AM

Broadway is just Las Vegas. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 89September 27, 2021 1:26 AM

How many people did Burnap blow?

by Anonymousreply 90September 27, 2021 1:27 AM

First the pink sweater, now a pink suit. It looks good on Jake.

by Anonymousreply 91September 27, 2021 1:28 AM

Hated the Moulin Rouge number which was nothing more than a lot of noise and gyrations and no focus all wrapped up in pretty costumes.

by Anonymousreply 92September 27, 2021 1:30 AM

R90 = Jake Gyllenhaal

by Anonymousreply 93September 27, 2021 1:45 AM

Just saw handsome guy with beard standing in the wings. Who is he?

by Anonymousreply 94September 27, 2021 1:46 AM

The inheritance wins…..

by Anonymousreply 95September 27, 2021 1:46 AM

HAHAHAHAHAHA

by Anonymousreply 96September 27, 2021 1:48 AM

I can’t believe this thread is so slow. Is DL in subscriber-only mode?

by Anonymousreply 97September 27, 2021 1:50 AM

Ho ho ho

by Anonymousreply 98September 27, 2021 1:53 AM

So all the winners are BIPOC and yet white American theatre is racist

by Anonymousreply 99September 27, 2021 1:54 AM

Tina, bring me the axe!!

by Anonymousreply 100September 27, 2021 1:54 AM

OMG! Annaleigh and Jake are in the building and they give this song to Ben Platt??!!

by Anonymousreply 101September 27, 2021 1:55 AM

R94 here. Now know it's Ben Platt.

by Anonymousreply 102September 27, 2021 1:55 AM

Us West Coast folk have to wait another two hours to see the 2nd half. I thought I could see it on streaming, but guess not.

by Anonymousreply 103September 27, 2021 1:56 AM

Anika Noni Rose was pretty amazing. Ben sounded good but wasn’t in her class

by Anonymousreply 104September 27, 2021 2:00 AM
I am reading that the cast of jagged little pill has quit and will not perform on the broadcast. It is all over twitter

Guess Twitter was wrong. Shocking!

by Anonymousreply 105September 27, 2021 2:10 AM

Where's all the DL snark tonight??

by Anonymousreply 106September 27, 2021 2:15 AM

R46 Splain' Lucy

by Anonymousreply 107September 27, 2021 2:17 AM

Bernadette’s TITS

by Anonymousreply 108September 27, 2021 2:18 AM

R106 I guess most of the witty posters aren't paying members.

by Anonymousreply 109September 27, 2021 2:18 AM

Now this is the way to an In Memoriam segment.

by Anonymousreply 110September 27, 2021 2:19 AM

The show is just reminding me that Bway pushes out alot of crap and makes you pay $500 for a center orchestra seat

by Anonymousreply 111September 27, 2021 2:22 AM

Oh well, I guess no one’s buying tickets to Jagged Little Pill after that lackluster performance

by Anonymousreply 112September 27, 2021 2:22 AM

Yes, Anika Noni Rose is stunning in everything she does. What a voice!

by Anonymousreply 113September 27, 2021 2:24 AM

The show got off to a good pace until the black woke shit took over.

by Anonymousreply 114September 27, 2021 2:32 AM

So, let me get this straight: Broadway is devoid of any non-black minorities.

by Anonymousreply 115September 27, 2021 2:33 AM

No awards for "Slave Play"!

LITERAL VIOLENCE!

by Anonymousreply 116September 27, 2021 2:34 AM

They completely stiffed the wokesters’ choice of play, R114.

by Anonymousreply 117September 27, 2021 2:35 AM

R115, yes it is

by Anonymousreply 118September 27, 2021 2:35 AM

Except Matthew LOPEZ just won the Tony

by Anonymousreply 119September 27, 2021 2:36 AM

R115, And non-Black majorities, either.

by Anonymousreply 120September 27, 2021 2:37 AM

It only took 74 years

by Anonymousreply 121September 27, 2021 2:37 AM

It’s weird that every song from nominated musical is a cover song of a hit pop song

by Anonymousreply 122September 27, 2021 2:38 AM

Condolences to R86.

by Anonymousreply 123September 27, 2021 2:38 AM

"Slave Play is a three-act play by Jeremy O. Harris. The play is about race, sex, power relations, trauma, and interracial relationships. It follows three interracial couples undergoing "Antebellum Sexual Performance Therapy" because the black partners no longer feel sexual attraction to their white partners."

This is really what it's about? Did anyone see it, and if so, was it good?

by Anonymousreply 124September 27, 2021 2:40 AM

Chita really looks her age.

by Anonymousreply 125September 27, 2021 2:40 AM

Slave Play was SHIT.

by Anonymousreply 126September 27, 2021 2:41 AM

Chita is actually 527. She looks amazing

by Anonymousreply 127September 27, 2021 2:41 AM

I was thinking that, r122, during John Legend singing the Temptations. I just saw them in concert last Friday, and even the old Original Temp was better than the Broadway ones.

by Anonymousreply 128September 27, 2021 2:42 AM

And the winner is: Moulin Rouge.

What crap

by Anonymousreply 129September 27, 2021 2:44 AM

And they say Beanie isn’t funny … but look at that dress.

by Anonymousreply 130September 27, 2021 2:44 AM

Don't feel sorry for me, r123. I would have voted for none of the nominees.

by Anonymousreply 131September 27, 2021 2:45 AM

Wow, Andrew Rannells' double chin has a double chin.

by Anonymousreply 132September 27, 2021 2:47 AM

SLAVE PLAY could have been so much better if it had a better writer.

by Anonymousreply 133September 27, 2021 2:49 AM

Wow, Titus lost a lot of weight!

Now he’s not so much fun

by Anonymousreply 134September 27, 2021 2:49 AM

Titus shrieks too much

by Anonymousreply 135September 27, 2021 2:50 AM

#TonysSoGay

by Anonymousreply 136September 27, 2021 2:50 AM

Slave Play would have been better if they cut the second act (of 3) and then cut about 20 minutes more.

by Anonymousreply 137September 27, 2021 2:50 AM

Madonna Madame X concerns commercial!!

by Anonymousreply 138September 27, 2021 2:52 AM

Now can we forget the 2020 Bway season.

It was terrible

by Anonymousreply 139September 27, 2021 2:53 AM

Tonys ended 10 minutes early!! So filling up with duets

by Anonymousreply 140September 27, 2021 2:54 AM

They still have Audra in Ragtime and Cheno/Menzel in Wicked and Freesytle Love Supreme

by Anonymousreply 141September 27, 2021 2:56 AM

I love these duets.

by Anonymousreply 142September 27, 2021 3:00 AM

Loved Groban and Odom Jr - and yes, I know that’s cheesy.

by Anonymousreply 143September 27, 2021 3:01 AM

Well, Covid didn’t hurt Brian Stokes Mitchell’s voice any.

by Anonymousreply 144September 27, 2021 3:02 AM

It was nice to KristinC and Adele Nadeem sing that sing again

by Anonymousreply 145September 27, 2021 3:03 AM

Mitchell is incredible. I remember hearing him sing that song during Man of La Mancha and believed every word of it. That’s how great he sings it

by Anonymousreply 146September 27, 2021 3:04 AM

I wonder if the tea about them hating each other are untrue

by Anonymousreply 147September 27, 2021 3:05 AM

Audra is incredible. PERIOD

by Anonymousreply 148September 27, 2021 3:08 AM
I wonder if the tea about them hating each other are untrue

Which two?

by Anonymousreply 149September 27, 2021 3:10 AM

Is that what FREESTYLE is like? No. Just no.

by Anonymousreply 150September 27, 2021 3:17 AM

The Simpsons has a theatrical bent to it tonight.

by Anonymousreply 151September 27, 2021 3:23 AM

Horrible! What a bad way to go out...

I'm sorry for those who didn't see the first 2 hours on Paramount Plus (and I'm canceling my subscription tomorrow). It really was like an old-fashioned Tony Awards show from the 1960s/70s with only genuine Broadway talent performing and presenting. Excellent pacing and lots of great emotional (and short) acceptance speeches.

by Anonymousreply 152September 27, 2021 3:24 AM

Kristin and Idina

by Anonymousreply 153September 27, 2021 3:27 AM

Jennifer Holliday is the only thing I want to see ever again

by Anonymousreply 154September 27, 2021 3:31 AM

After seeing Andrew Rannells, I know where at least SOME of Titus’ extra weight went.

by Anonymousreply 155September 27, 2021 3:40 AM

Has anyone ever seen Tituss Burgess and Jennifer Holliday in the same room at the same time? just asking.

by Anonymousreply 156September 27, 2021 3:43 AM

Both Cheno and Adele have old lady hands.

by Anonymousreply 157September 27, 2021 3:50 AM

So many current shows not represented here – Chicago, waitress, Mormon, the Disney shows, Company, Diana, come from away, why? (And cameos By ensemble people in the opening number doesn’t count)

by Anonymousreply 158September 27, 2021 3:51 AM

R 158, because they are not woke wnough.

by Anonymousreply 159September 27, 2021 4:05 AM

^enough.

by Anonymousreply 160September 27, 2021 4:06 AM

I didn’t watch the speech but Andrew Burnap is cute. He was the best thing about The Inheritance, though even his character became tiresome.

by Anonymousreply 161September 27, 2021 5:05 AM

His acceptance speech was tiresome, too. But that's OK, they were trying to fill 10 minutes. (still came up short)

by Anonymousreply 162September 27, 2021 5:08 AM

Your Best Leading Actor in a Play and his acceptance speech have become TIRESOME!

Now is the time on "Sprockets" when we DANCE!

by Anonymousreply 163September 27, 2021 5:18 AM

R152 Is Paramount Plus gonna have the show available for a limited time? I might have to temporarily subscribe if it's like an old-fashioned Tonys broadcast.

I just watched the last half hour of CBS's Broadway's Back, and that Freestyle Love Supreme was a trainwreck.

by Anonymousreply 164September 27, 2021 6:16 AM

Aaron's acceptance speech, including a shout out to his date "Erica".

by Anonymousreply 165September 27, 2021 10:53 AM

R164, They should have ended the show with Audra and BSM singing "Wheels of a Dream".

by Anonymousreply 166September 27, 2021 11:25 AM

Leave Aaron alone.

by Anonymousreply 167September 27, 2021 11:26 AM

R167, Sorry, but his shout out to Erica had a definite Kevin Spacey feel to it.

by Anonymousreply 168September 27, 2021 11:33 AM

r168, sorry, but Ericka is a year older than Aaron.

Ohhhh...[italic]that[/italic] kind of Kevin Spacey feel. Thanks, r170.

So many racial justice speeches, some were powerful and/or eloquent but in total was it overkill--especially in a year with so many Black winners? Who was the most obnoxious?

by Anonymousreply 172September 27, 2021 1:46 PM

R172, Kenny Leon

I think I agree and didn't like that he didn't include Miller, Williams, or any American playwrights

Kevin and I made hot love during Aaron's acceptance speech.

by Anonymousreply 175September 27, 2021 2:32 PM

R175, You got Kevin Spacey to climax in 2:11?

by Anonymousreply 176September 27, 2021 2:41 PM

Imagine all the cancellations Paramount+ will be receiving after the free one week trial period ends.

by Anonymousreply 177September 27, 2021 2:46 PM

I canceled my subscription already. I never could find the Tony Awards on Paramount+. It was not featured on the app within Amazon Prime. After 5 minutes of looking for it last night, I gave up and went to bed.
Jennifer Holliday is the only thing I want to see ever again

As someone tweeted, Holliday is Broadway's cicada, appearing on the Tonys every 20 years or so to sing the same song.

Audra is just luminous. Her voice is so full of emotion. No wonder she's a Bway superstar. It's so sad Bway stardom doesn't always translate into international notoriety as it used to in the old days.

by Anonymousreply 180September 27, 2021 3:19 PM

Is this the saddest DL Tony thread in history?

The ATC threads aren't that great either

by Anonymousreply 181September 27, 2021 3:29 PM

I never quite think of Audra as being notorious, r180.

by Anonymousreply 182September 27, 2021 3:32 PM

I would normally jump to the conclusion Rannells and Burgess are fucking, but how does that work with two bottoms?

by Anonymousreply 183September 27, 2021 3:34 PM

The Notorious Audra Mac

by Anonymousreply 184September 27, 2021 3:50 PM

All of you thinking you're going to drop Paramount +, Madonna's Madame X Concert will be streamed there in a month

by Anonymousreply 185September 27, 2021 3:51 PM

I sat through that commercial, what, five times, r185, and all I could think of was "HTF can people love that awful bleat of a voice?"

by Anonymousreply 186September 27, 2021 3:59 PM

I was so irritated when I went to the Madame X concerts that she started 2 hours late. I couldn't really enjoy it because of that.

I didn't think there were interesting moments, so I'm happy it was filmed so I can revisit it. Not getting another channel to do it--so will have to wait until it shows up somewhere else.
Is this the saddest DL Tony thread in history?

OP here. I don't know if this happened to any other paying members but I got cut off last night when the site went to prime time (about an hour after I created this thread). I thought perhaps my paid year was up, so I checked my subscription status and it expires a week from now, so that wasn't the reason (I was going to renew it had it been). I emailed Muriel to ask WTF but have received no response.

by Anonymousreply 188September 27, 2021 5:02 PM

The trannies are trying to ruin B'way.

But they don't understand -- some people got it and make it pay

Some people can't even give it away

And THAT's Show Business!

by Anonymousreply 189September 27, 2021 5:08 PM

R155, Andrew's no longer getting those horizontal workouts with Tuc.

by Anonymousreply 190September 27, 2021 5:29 PM

r188 - Your OP is grayed out for me.

by Anonymousreply 191September 27, 2021 5:51 PM

Did Andrew and Tuc break up?

by Anonymousreply 192September 27, 2021 5:51 PM

Actually, this was the first time I though Andrew had a great voice. The heft has helped him.

by Anonymousreply 193September 27, 2021 6:01 PM

R175/“Diane”, do you always spell your name wrong in posts? It’s Dianne.

Nice try, thanks for playing, though.

by Anonymousreply 194September 27, 2021 6:13 PM

R191, it is? Hmm, that's interesting. It's not for me but maybe that's because I'm the OP?

TV Ratings: CBS’ "Broadway’s Back" Tony Awards Special Struggles:

They should incorporate the Tony Awards into the Superbowl. Make a big to do of it. Get football fans of all ages and theatre people of all ages (the producers, presenters, nominees etc can bring their families/loved ones to the game with them,) together at the biggest football game of the year.

The individual winners would be announced during short intervals between plays, or downs? idk. The presenters would be announced and quickly driven onto the field in one or two spiffy golf carts to a small platform that a team of stagehands (fieldhands?) run onto the field. No banter- just say the nominees then open the envelope. The winners jog out onto the field, get their trophy, say thanks, and blow kisses at the cheering crowds as they join the presenters on the golf cart sped off the field. (Elderly winners would be driven in a spiffy golf-cart onto the field to the platform as well as off.) The winners could then give proper acceptance speeches to a camera backstage or in the locker room, and then talk to the press.

The musical numbers can frame the game, one to open the broadcast, three for halftime, and then after the game ends the last one or two could perform. Then Best Musical would be announced. And THEN you have the typical halftime show, but to close out the whole evening.

I think it'd bring America together in a way.

They should do a Broadway half-time show though, that would be good.

by Anonymousreply 200September 27, 2021 8:30 PM

Did Rannells and Tuc Watkins break up? Must be hard on the kids.

by Anonymousreply 201September 27, 2021 8:31 PM

Andrew and Tuc was a “showmance” that extended (on fumes, it seems).

by Anonymousreply 202September 27, 2021 8:45 PM

I bet Tuc is used to much hotter sex partners than Rannells, who’s just creepiness personified.

by Anonymousreply 203September 27, 2021 9:39 PM

wtf with Kenny Leon mentioning Kobe Bryant and Gigi? How is that part of the SJW/BLM crusade?

by Anonymousreply 204September 27, 2021 9:51 PM

Gigi the musical?

by Anonymousreply 205September 27, 2021 10:18 PM

I'm still reeling from the utter banality of that Moulin Rouge number. Besides the gorgeous costumes and sets, all I saw were a lot of grimacing chorus girls posing and flouncing. That was the choreography and direction that won the Tonys? They were lucky there was so little competition and I really hope the show dies soon. It must cost a fortune to run it.

by Anonymousreply 206September 28, 2021 12:06 AM

It did look all flash and trash, r206.

by Anonymousreply 207September 28, 2021 12:28 AM

because it is r207 but at least not aggressively bad like JLP
