R17, same here -- I signed up for Paramount+ today just for this, but when I went onto the opening page, it was nowhere to be found (because the front page is covered in all of CBS's shows). I finally had to put "Tonys" into the search box in order to get it to come up.

Because that would signal that being inside a theatre is not safe at a time when Broadway is welcoming back audiences.

"As a brown, queer, Arab-American woman I didn't always feel welcome." Blergh. I wish people would stop painting the American (or British, for that matter) as a closed door as if the past 25 years haven't happened. They have got to stop this go-to line, as if there is a monolithic group keeping out minority voices and marginalized cultures. It's just not real.

Imagine all the cancellations Paramount+ will be receiving after the free one week trial period ends.

I canceled my subscription already. I never could find the Tony Awards on Paramount+. It was not featured on the app within Amazon Prime. After 5 minutes of looking for it last night, I gave up and went to bed.

[Quote] Jennifer Holliday is the only thing I want to see ever again
As someone tweeted, Holliday is Broadway's cicada, appearing on the Tonys every 20 years or so to sing the same song.

Audra is just luminous. Her voice is so full of emotion. No wonder she's a Bway superstar. It's so sad Bway stardom doesn't always translate into international notoriety as it used to in the old days.

Is this the saddest DL Tony thread in history?
The ATC threads aren't that great either

I never quite think of Audra as being notorious, r180.

All of you thinking you're going to drop Paramount +, Madonna's Madame X Concert will be streamed there in a month

I sat through that commercial, what, five times, r185, and all I could think of was "HTF can people love that awful bleat of a voice?"

I was so irritated when I went to the Madame X concerts that she started 2 hours late. I couldn't really enjoy it because of that.
I didn't think there were interesting moments, so I'm happy it was filmed so I can revisit it. Not getting another channel to do it--so will have to wait until it shows up somewhere else.

OP here. I don't know if this happened to any other paying members but I got cut off last night when the site went to prime time (about an hour after I created this thread). I thought perhaps my paid year was up, so I checked my subscription status and it expires a week from now, so that wasn't the reason (I was going to renew it had it been). I emailed Muriel to ask WTF but have received no response.

The trannies are trying to ruin B'way.
But they don't understand -- some people got it and make it pay
Some people can't even give it away
And THAT's Show Business!

Actually, this was the first time I though Andrew had a great voice. The heft has helped him.

R191, it is? Hmm, that's interesting. It's not for me but maybe that's because I'm the OP?

TV Ratings: CBS’ "Broadway’s Back" Tony Awards Special Struggles:

They should incorporate the Tony Awards into the Superbowl. Make a big to do of it. Get football fans of all ages and theatre people of all ages (the producers, presenters, nominees etc can bring their families/loved ones to the game with them,) together at the biggest football game of the year.
The individual winners would be announced during short intervals between plays, or downs? idk. The presenters would be announced and quickly driven onto the field in one or two spiffy golf carts to a small platform that a team of stagehands (fieldhands?) run onto the field. No banter- just say the nominees then open the envelope. The winners jog out onto the field, get their trophy, say thanks, and blow kisses at the cheering crowds as they join the presenters on the golf cart sped off the field. (Elderly winners would be driven in a spiffy golf-cart onto the field to the platform as well as off.) The winners could then give proper acceptance speeches to a camera backstage or in the locker room, and then talk to the press.
The musical numbers can frame the game, one to open the broadcast, three for halftime, and then after the game ends the last one or two could perform. Then Best Musical would be announced. And THEN you have the typical halftime show, but to close out the whole evening.
I think it'd bring America together in a way.

I'm still reeling from the utter banality of that Moulin Rouge number. Besides the gorgeous costumes and sets, all I saw were a lot of grimacing chorus girls posing and flouncing. That was the choreography and direction that won the Tonys? They were lucky there was so little competition and I really hope the show dies soon. It must cost a fortune to run it.
