He directed "Watermelon Man," did everything on "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song" and wrote a pair of Broadway musicals.

Oooh, too bad, let me break out a few caps I made from "Sweetback" - Melvin (I think, it's been so long since I saw the movie, I can't remember for sure) - click to see dick:

He directed a nude 13-year-old Mario in a sex scene where young Sweetback lost his virginity to a prostitute.
Different times.

I don't know how he looks now R8 but Mario looked good back in 2017 on his now cancelled syfy show.
I was kind of shocked to learn he was 60.
I think this is back in 2018 so I guess he's 61 here.

He had a sweet sweetback but he couldn’t live forever.
His son Mario had a pretty good career directing TV but he’s fucked it up by being an obnoxious prick. Many shows he was brought in to direct wouldn’t bring him back.

[QUOTE] His son Mario used to be hot . . .
He’s still hot.. in a sense.

Mario looks great for his age (Melvin held it together for a long time as well).
Mario posted a truly beautiful tribute to his father on Instagram:

Has anyone ever tried to watch that Sweet Badass movie? It’s unwatchable.

i was surprised to see him cast as Hallorann in the 1997 TV miniseries version of "The Shining" (and delighted that he got to be heroic, unlike poor Scatman Crothers in the Kubrick version.)
Do it, Lily.

Genius. An American Original. He moved to Paris and wrote novels in French there. He used to sing at the Five Oaks.
