I love 1950s and 1960s b movie hunks, the more obscure the better. Exhibit 1: John Bromfield, who was firmly C list, and never passed up the opportunity to shimmy his substantial frame into tight swimming trunks. Here he is in a publicity shot with Tab Hunter—looking full on bottom boy—in the rear.
Dewey Martin. Best known for being in "The Thing" and for once being married to Peggy Lee. A hot little twunk.

John Bromfield helped to make me gay! He was in an early Sheriff/Marshall type of TV series and it always opened up with a shot of Bromfield, in his very tight , very revealing copper's uniform. Nothing could hide the prominent VPL he displayed. Used to send little shivers up and down my whole body and that was before I knew about sex where the man goes up into the other man. Sadly, the series didn't last long.
Along came Broderick Crawford and his series. Killed that fantasy rather quickly.

To all the Edson Stroll fans: He was the very pretty young man who would be guiding Donna Douglas' character to their colony(?) in the iconic TZ episode "Eye of the Beholder." Very easy on the eyes, whether shirtless on "McHale's Navy" or in a tight, black polo shirt. Also quickly glimpsed in the big beach scene, where all the Seabees are singing, in "South Pacific."

R112 Sounds like a gf. Here’s a joint letter they penned about a Pit Bull killing their dog:
BRAVO Pet Smart! Our Yorkie was viciously killed by an off-leash Pit Bull at Mothers Beach in Marina del Rey on 02/25/08. It one thing to lose a pet due to natural causes; it is heartbreaking to say the least. But when a pet is killed, one experiences the additional emotions of being infuriated and helpless, knowing that the perpetrator goes free to repeat the offense. Los Angeles has no laws or enforcement to take action against the perpetrator or to protect the innocent victims. It is amazing how many Pit Bull killings there are in the greater Los Angeles area and nothing is being done about it. It is time to change the laws and make it safer for our children and pets. We admire Pet Smart for taking a stand to make it safer for defenseless helpless animals, which cannot protect themselves against pit bulls.- Edson Stroll & Anita Winters

Hugh O'Brian's story is an odd one, not marrying until age 81?
Apparently, Hugh only fucked bareback.
"On June 25, 2006, at age 81, O'Brian married his girlfriend of 18 years, Virginia Barber (born circa 1952); it was his first and only marriage. The ceremony was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Schuller officiating. Barber, who had been married once previously, is a teacher by profession and the couple spent their honeymoon studying philosophy at Oxford University. O'Brian stated that he believed, "an active mind is as important as an active body. O'Brian had one son, Hugh Donald Krampe, by a relationship with photographer Adina Etkes. O'Brian died at his home in Beverly Hills, California, on September 5, 2016, at the age of 91. Three individuals have since come forward claiming O'Brian was their father."

by Anonymous | reply 140 | October 10, 2021 8:24 PM |
Ray Danton and his longtime wife, Julia Adams were Universal contract players throughout much of the 1950s. Universal was a cheapskate studio that got a lot of mileage out of their players, but put them in monster movies, fantasy/sci-fi adventures, serials, B-pictures, cheap melodramas, and low-budget musicals.
by Anonymous | reply 142 | October 10, 2021 8:46 PM |
I can still remember the first time I saw Ray Danton. I was just a kid but it was a guest star on the TV series The Roaring Twenties. My parents loved the show as they were teens in the 20s and we watched it every week. Like all those other ABC series of the early 1960s - 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, Surfside 6, Bourbon Street Beat, and the many westerns including Maverick, Sugarfoot, Bronco.....so many more, the shows all were cast the hottest young actors of the day, most of whom never got much further than those TV soundstages.
But there must have been a very wise gay casting director involved behind the scenes. Oh....that casting couch!
by Anonymous | reply 143 | October 10, 2021 9:36 PM |
R131 r135. Lex made a very good living (like George Nader and other faded American b actors) in Italian and German genre movies of the 1960s: spies, horror, capers, westerns. During that era he managed to score a small role in a classic, important film, playing Ekberg’s boyfriend in “La Dolce Vita,” he was basically playing himself since he lived in and through the Via Veneto era.

"Ben Casey" and "Dr. Kildare" were rival medical dramas at the time.
The fan magazines would have Vince Edwards vs. Richard Chamberlain articles regularly.
It became like a Veronica vs. Betty thing, dark hair vs. light hair.

R189, There was also a rivalry between Richard Chamberlain and James Franciscus in the 1960s.
Chamberlain was starring in "Dr. Kildare" and Franciscus was starring in "Mr. Novak".
They had a similar look, could have played brothers.

R191, James Franciscus was the first choice to play Dr. Kildare, but he was committed to another series that never materialized.
I was watching a movie with Franciscus the other day, and he was surprisingly diminutive standing next to Karl Malden. His imdb bio says he was 5'10 1/2", but he looked to be about 5'7" and light weight.

When I was in high school, everyone watched Mr. Novak.
Other TV shows appealed to one gender or the other. So only boys watched The Twilight Zone, for instance.
But the day after Mr. Novak, all of us would avidly discuss the show we had just seen. There was a lot to talk about, as some of the stories had real bite. There was one wherein Mr. Novak tried to mentor a boy who was suddenly blind and had to relearn everything in his life.
He was so different from the teachers we were used to. And incredibly handsome.

R199, Yes, Farentino was married to Michele Lee, Elizabeth Ashley and Deborah Farentino. He was also seriously dating Tina Sinatra and when she broke it off, he began to stalk her and it became a police matter.
Franciosa was formerly married to Shelley Winters and Franciscus was formerly married to Kitty Wellman, daughter if legendary film directir William Wellman.
All three men are deceased.

by Anonymous | reply 239 | March 26, 2022 10:32 PM |
[R239] I always thought the late character actor Paul Carr (1934-2006 ) was hot. He may be best remembered by size queens for his appearance in the classic Star Trek episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before". He is strangled on top of a control panel and you apparently can see his very long soft cock in his tight uniform pants in the video. This was reported on an old website called "The Bulge Report: The Latest on the Male Package". I wish he would have done a full frontal Playgirl spread back in the day for us to enjoy. He was an ex-Marine who was married twice and fathered three children. His first love was the stage.

This was pushing his sell by date (he had been a contract player since the mid-30’s at MGM, most notable for his role in the 1938 Mickey Rooney/Spencer Tracey vehicle *Boystown* (yes Spencer Tracey -and all his… cough…..Catholicism- played Father Flanagan, the founder of the now defunct and notorious Omaha, Nebraska compound for boys. No irony, nothing to see here folks) not to be mistaken for the Chicago neighborhood. By 1950 he was pushing 30, after 15 years of passing for a teenager (blessing and a curse in real life), so he just makes the cut. Goggle his name with Boystown, he had a great mug in his late teens-20’s.

Not much is known about him, but he was a “bachelor” until he married in his late 60’s. No prior girlfriends of note, wife or kids. Couple message boards from the late 90’s somewhere deep on google both hinted it was more of a companionship situation. He (purportedly) had a long time companion who passed away in the late 1970’s. Usually rumors like that should be taken with a grain of salt, but bringing up the Nancy Drew’s he was kind of her purse holder. Might just be different times lol.

R282: Pat Boone, Peter Ronson, James Mason and Arlene Dahl in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1959). Boone and Ronson look hot together. Here's an anecdote about the filming, told by Boone in an Alive East Bay Magazine interview:
[quote]"In the climatic scene in which James Mason, Arlene Dahl, Peter Ronson and I were on a raft, caught in a giant whirlpool. It was a tricky thing to shoot — the raft was on a revolving platform that tilted when it went around. It had to look like we were being tossed violently. Hundreds of gallons of water were being dumped on us to simulate a stormy sea. The noise was deafening, but not enough to drown out Dahl, who started screaming as she held on for dear life. She screamed at the director, Henry Levin, ‘Get me off this thing. Get me down. I’m going to pass out!’"
[quote]"She kept yelling. Mason had little patience for it. He thought Dahl had already overplayed the role of a dainty creature when we had to wear very heavy parkas, feigning winter amid very hot July weather, for another scene (Dahl complained then of heat prostration). Mason was not amused as this time he yelled back at her, ‘Shut up woman! We’re going to have to do this ten times if you don’t keep quiet.’ We were going to have to dub dialogue anyway, and they got the shot.”
[quote]Boone said that Dahl was hauled away to the infirmary on a stretcher. Boone added, “I got along tremendously with James Mason. I was in awe of him as an actor, and he was very helpful to me and very friendly. I liked the way he hummed a lot before a scene would be shot. He never hummed any tune I could recognize, but I think he was making sure that famous voice of his was warmed up and ready. He was thoroughly professional.”
