As if knowing it's the last week of summer, a chilly rain is falling and a breeze is teasing the wind chimes.
I will sip some pumpkin spice eggnog while a pot of potato soup simmers. Where's my new Town & Country magazine?

OP, I hope your post is sincere, and not a mockery of the already-marginalized #CradlingCommunity.

Warm as heck in NYC

Finally Fall has arrived here in the upper midwest. It was 90 on Sunday and a wonderful 68 today. I'm here for it :)
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 21, 2021 7:16 PM |
Tomorrow is fall, OP jumped the gun. My cozy sweater (in which I pull over my hands) and mug will stay in storage until it is OFFICIALLY fall, which is tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 21, 2021 7:28 PM |
OP, shouldn’t you be preparing a snack for the kiddos? They’ll be home from school soon.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 21, 2021 7:28 PM |
OP is tender to the touch.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 21, 2021 8:58 PM |
PS will be 110 tomorrow. Perfect cup cradling weather.

So it's your own damned fault.

Pic?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 21, 2021 9:20 PM |
I have something to say!
I do not think, IMHO, that OP’s pic truly represents accurate mug cradling. That dame’s merely [italic]supporting[/italic] the base of her mug with her hand.
This is the proper cradling method most often associated with our movement:
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 21, 2021 9:22 PM |
OPS pic is lazy and lacks the whimsical quality required for such activities.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 21, 2021 9:28 PM |
Ya want mug cradling? THIS is mug cradling!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 21, 2021 9:33 PM |
It should involve a pensive mood and possibly a bay window ........

It's 10:30 PM and it's still 85 degrees outside. It hit 100 today. (Eastern LA County.)
Can we still say "Indian Summer" or is that no longer PC?

The temps are falling precipitously here in coastal Georgia. Mid 70's for lows until tonight when they'll fall into the mid 50s, and predicted to stay low. Going from the upper 80s for highs to the low to mid 70s. Can't wait. I'm sick of having to live with the house sealed tight with the A/C on 24/7.

Cradle my pumpkin 🎃 spice balls in your coffee mug mouth

Where I live it's that sort of weather where it *looks* beautiful, mid 70s, but the humidity is such that you're drenched walking a block.

Been over 90+ over the past week here in NorCal. I knew our cool summer couldn't last. it doesn't matter that it's actually Fall now, we have our resounding Indian Summer going on.

I can't handle this thread.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 23, 2021 11:02 AM |
Most people here are overthinking. Contemporary mug-cradling has taken on too much cultural baggage. It has acquired nuances and subtleties akin to Japanese tea ceremonies.
We should return the practice to its intuitive roots. We know how to do this in the same way that infants refuse to drown when thrown into a swimming pool.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 23, 2021 11:06 AM |
R12 How can you be so critical of others when your "mug" is clearly not regulation?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | September 23, 2021 11:09 AM |
r56 - i can't handle "mug cradling behavior" (i.e. hot tea or coffee or chocolate when the temp in the morning is over 70 degrees).
I'm holding off. and i have a very good brand of Irish Breakfast tea at the wait. As well as Tim Horton's coffee.

Coastal Georgia here again. I turned off the A/C last night before bed and opened up the bedroom windows. Woke up at 5:30am and it was 54°. Got up and raised most of the other windows in the house. Had breakfast and now I'm in my lounge chair with a soft throw over me, right next to a big open window with all 3 of my cats sitting in it enjoying the wonderful cool air. It's now 56°. Made myself a 2nd cup of coffee and couldn't be more comfy. The kitties haven't been able to sit in the windows (something they love to do) since April. I love happy kitties.

SF Bay Area checking in. I'm in San Rafael. Only about two days ago did it dip (mmmm, dip) lower than 89 degrees. Today it has been fucking heaven: 72 degrees. I need to enjoy it now because it goes back up to 90 plus in a couple of days,
What climate change?

My fibro is acting up again, like it does every fall, so I'm just taking it easy today. I've got a new Janet Evanovich book on tape from the library that I'll listen to while I'm putting away Harper and Mason's summer clothes. That's the goal anyway, right after I take a nap and check Facebook. I saw a recipe on there for a cranberry pumpkin cheesecake bar that I want to make for Thanksgiving. This year we're going to my aunt's place in Tenafly.

It's been a tough one, I won't lie. My Ehlers-Danlos is worse once the temperature drops. It's fine during the summer but once fall hits, I flop around like Gumby in a sauna. I'm so grateful for my husband Grant and children Amber and Tamber for helping me out with cleaning the cat trays and playing my numbers even though I can't get to the store. I'm gonna take it easy for the next couple days. Keep me in your prayers.

My Long-Haul Covid ebbed just enough today that Raistlyn and I could go for a walk. Neighbors and friends passing by wished me well, though I felt a little odd with my oxygen helmet. Of course I demanded 6 ft. of distance.
We had made it to SoyServe- the non-dairy ice cream alternative shoppe- when I suddenly collapsed and began softly weeping. I didn't know where I was or who I was (someone said I was speaking in tongues). Hubby called our neighbor Kale to come fetch us.
Eventually the fog cleared and I was back to normal... whatever that is. A hot cup of Chai and a fire can work miracles.

[quote][italic]It was around the age of 23 that I began to experience pain related to fibromyalgia. I was training to run a half-marathon in Chicago, and I was hitting the local gym to practice running as often as I could… It wasn’t long before I started to feel knee pain, which, I mostly ignored… The “pain mystery” repeated itself again, but this time, with my shoulders…. I was taking dance classes at the invitation of one of my co-teachers, to get some regular exercise, when I began feeling pain in my ankles that eventually spread into the feet and toes.
[quote]For so long I have tried to hide my pain from everyone for fear it would stain my public persona, but now I felt it was time to speak up and hopefully help others. I hoped that with this new treatment not only could I help advance the science of treating fibromyalgia, but I could also gain a sense of openness and catharsis for myself.
