The expiration date is August 26th. Is it still safe to drink? Is the exp. date only applicable if it's opened?
I have a half-gallon of 2% milk I've never opened

Absolutely op. The expiration date means nothing unless you’ve opened it. Enjoy!

Drink it and see.
Can I have your stuff? Someone else can have your dolls made from human hair though.

Time stops in its tracks when a container is not opened.

Open it, pour a glass. Smell it. If it smells off, throw it out. Taste it. If it tastes off throw it out.

UHT or fresh?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 20, 2021 2:44 AM |
Also lactose reduced milk, "fresh", not UHT, lasts for 3+ weeks.

What is UHT?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 20, 2021 2:50 AM |
Universal Ho Time, R7. You of all people should know that.

Open it and drink it without smelling it. Let us know how it turns out.

Open it and place it in the sun for a day to sterilize it, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 20, 2021 2:58 AM |
If it turned you can enjoy it as chunky lemon milk.

So I finally opened it and it was bad. Not horrible bad, but it had turned sour. Live and learn...

OMG R1 puts the cunt in 'cunt'.

I find organic milk lasts a pretty long time, if unopened. Even opened, after the expiration date..it usually is fine.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 4, 2021 10:32 PM |
Smell it, or take a little taste first.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 4, 2021 10:34 PM |
Rub it on your mussy. If it burns, it might be good for an infection, but don’t drink it.

Bathe your neighbor Joel in it.

Most organic milk available has been ultra-pasteurized to increase its shelf life.
That's not a good thing.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 4, 2021 11:17 PM |
Usually, it is the fats in milk that go bad. Ultra-pasteurized can last for months.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 4, 2021 11:19 PM |
Duh it will probably start to smell and taste weird with out opening it. Prepare to throw it away.

What was the year of the expiration date?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 4, 2021 11:37 PM |
1811

I get a small carton or pint of whipping cream for emergencies when I run out of milk. It lasts like a month unopened and you only need a little but for your coffee.
The rest you can whip up and use it on fruit.
