I’ve always loved them since I heard them for the first time with “Clocks”. They’re a great band.

I like Coldplay, but didn't enjoy that first song. First of all I couldn't understand a word he was singing. And his stage movements during that number were, for lack of a better word, silly.

The studio version is so much better.

I will agree that Coldplay borders, or sometimes inhabits, greige territory. But I can’t quit them! The music, the lyrics… they can create a mood or even intensify what I’m feeling/going through. I have many favorite songs, some of which have been listed above.

But another Super Bowl Halftime Show? No thank you! Beyoncé worked overtime to pull that one out of the gutter, almost falling on her ass while doing so! And Bruno Mars helped a bit too. I believe The Weekend’s ridiculous showing this year is sufficient to distract attention from some of the sillier moments of Chris Martin’s performance.

The Super Bowl is NOT the venue for Coldplay.

Chris Martin is that guy who just shows up at someone's house, the friend of s friend of a friend who isn't there. With his guitar. And within fifteen minutes he's found the perfect moment to just start playing and singing, and everyone stops to listen and watch him. It can't be helped. He isn't terrible but he isn't that good, not in the least memorable. But he knows to stop after two songs.

Yet he will fuck three of the people around that table that very night. Like his singing and guitar playing, he's a middling, forgettable fuck. But it all seemed so important in the moment.

Tomorrow night: same routine, different table of friends, different people want to fuck him.
