Who is the football player?

Just go into porn already!

by Anonymousreply 1September 17, 2021 12:43 PM

The song isn't that great and there's way too much autotune but congrats for LITERALLY FORCING GAY SEX DOWN THE THROATS OF THE PUBLIC

by Anonymousreply 2September 17, 2021 12:47 PM

it's a better song than the others

by Anonymousreply 3September 17, 2021 12:48 PM

Lil Nash Ecksh

by Anonymousreply 4September 17, 2021 12:49 PM

It’s not literal

by Anonymousreply 5September 17, 2021 12:49 PM

It doesn't sound very nice.

by Anonymousreply 6September 17, 2021 12:49 PM

R2 I'm not doing the effort, but I'm sure there are plenty of music videos where they SHOVE HETEROSEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS DOWN THE THROATS OF THE PUBLIC.

by Anonymousreply 7September 17, 2021 1:08 PM

"Jack (it), I Swear."

by Anonymousreply 8September 17, 2021 1:08 PM

I think what's interesting is that for us, with gay imagery and especially in porn, this is not new. So it feels a little tired to us, just like the video set in prison. But for mainstream it's probably feels very different. Just because it's gay. Original in any way including the music? No. But that obviously doesn't matter anymore at all

by Anonymousreply 9September 17, 2021 1:14 PM

The top looks Asian.

Good for Nas for not being ashamed to be a bottom.

by Anonymousreply 10September 17, 2021 1:18 PM

Did any of you watch beyond the first 30 seconds? Nas's boyfriend and true love turns out to be married to a woman with whom he has a kid. The song is about wanting a true love.

by Anonymousreply 11September 17, 2021 1:22 PM

Duh. We knew the football player is on the DL

by Anonymousreply 12September 17, 2021 1:24 PM

[quote]Nas's boyfriend and true love turns out to be married to a woman with whom he has a kid.

Does Nas read Datalounge? We've had so many threads about this and similar situations.

by Anonymousreply 13September 17, 2021 1:27 PM

I didn't see a thing..

by Anonymousreply 14September 17, 2021 1:41 PM

I'm surprised that I love this album. Not every song lands for me, but most do, and overall I'm impressed as hell. The videos for each song are eye-catching, and it's obvious a lot of work went into this album on multiple levels. The angle of setting up a "baby registry"for people to donate to various charities he connects to each song is a fucking brilliant tie-in. The song "Void" from this debut album is outstanding and heartbreaking and I cried real tears even! He's an important artist who through his creative output is showing up for those that might be confused and isolated as they struggle with their sexual identity, all while having to navigate a prissy society that is still trying to prop up stale "norms."

Not wasting data on this until I get home, but if there isn't a creampie ending, I will be sorely disappointed.

by Anonymousreply 16September 17, 2021 1:46 PM

I actually like the song but I do think that his whole shtick is showing signs of fatigue.

by Anonymousreply 17September 17, 2021 1:47 PM

You don’t have unlimited data???

by Anonymousreply 18September 17, 2021 1:50 PM

Love the song. I think he's versatile - talent wise and gay wise.

by Anonymousreply 19September 17, 2021 1:52 PM

He can reinvent his persona for the next album. Ride this one till the wheels fall off.

by Anonymousreply 20September 17, 2021 1:58 PM

I think this is his real experience. It just happens, you know.

by Anonymousreply 21September 17, 2021 1:58 PM

[quote] Did any of you watch beyond the first 30 seconds?

His "music" is so terrible I can't bring myself to watch any of it. I applaud anyone who can even choke down 30 seconds.

by Anonymousreply 22September 17, 2021 2:10 PM

R22 doesn't know what "mute" is.

by Anonymousreply 23September 17, 2021 2:25 PM

Who keeps posting about her here? Please no more.

by Anonymousreply 24September 17, 2021 2:30 PM

He's this close to presenting hole in a video.

But he will do it in a very clever, visually stunning, and slightly comical way.

by Anonymousreply 25September 17, 2021 2:31 PM

[quote]He can reinvent his persona for the next album. Ride this one till the wheels fall off.

He should follow this up with an entire album of Heino covers. Keep 'em guessing.

by Anonymousreply 26September 17, 2021 2:38 PM

Meh, the music is just not of a high enough quality.

by Anonymousreply 27September 17, 2021 2:42 PM

R17 Right. Gay male sexual relationships in music videos are extraordinary to mainstream culture until they're not. These days, it doesn't take long for people's minds to grow bored and turn their gaze somewhere else once the novelty wears off.

Lil Nas X has already fucked Satan, shown prison sex, and now the whole hooking up with married men. As this rate, his next video better have him in a 100 man gangbang with a bukkake ending if he's going to get any views.

by Anonymousreply 28September 17, 2021 2:47 PM

I'm not a fan, but I though some of you might enjoy this 5-star review from the Guardian.

This is groundbreaking for gay men.

by Anonymousreply 30September 17, 2021 3:00 PM

R30, this is horrendous for gay men.

by Anonymousreply 31September 17, 2021 3:01 PM

R2

Straight people force straight sex in music, it’s about time gay people get representation in that way.

by Anonymousreply 32September 17, 2021 3:02 PM

R31

Only on conservative DataLounge.

by Anonymousreply 33September 17, 2021 3:03 PM

I think his stuff is good. He is talented and he was an online marketing specialist before he hit it with his music, so he knows how to create viral content.

My only criticism is that his videos are TOO "in your face" with the gay agenda. Too overt with sexual content. I mean kids are going to watch his stuff. It's a little much at times. And I agree with the post above that signs of fatigue are starting appear with his shtick.

by Anonymousreply 34September 17, 2021 3:36 PM

I mean kids are going to watch his stuff.

Good.

GET REAL. All entertainment media, advertising, even news content pushes the heterosexual agenda on kids 24/7. The doctrination is relentless. NAS "gay agenda" is nothing more or less than wanting to exist consciously, find his way in life, unashamed and authentic. He is of the time in the way he uses social media and CGI not to promote his music, but it is all one thing. Art.

by Anonymousreply 35September 17, 2021 3:42 PM

R34

Anyone using the “gay agenda” phrase is not to be trusted. And then you use the stupid shitty “think of the children” argument, ignoring the fact that there is much worse straight content out there that these kids are accessing.

by Anonymousreply 36September 17, 2021 3:43 PM

Only criticism is that it’s the wrong kind of footer.

by Anonymousreply 37September 17, 2021 3:46 PM

THIS IS SO GOOD!!!

by Anonymousreply 38September 17, 2021 3:54 PM

Naw, American football is so much hotter. Most soccer players are so small and undeveloped

by Anonymousreply 39September 17, 2021 3:55 PM

But you're not going to get anywhere making entertainment about "gay sex". We are not a "sex act" but this is the way the world views us.

THIS IS WHY THEY HATE US.

And I do "think of the children", hence my statement. I agree there is overt straight content out there which goes too far, also. All sexually overt content, which is accessible to children, should be toned down.

by Anonymousreply 40September 17, 2021 3:56 PM

I totally get the 5 star review here. I’m surprised how good the album is, I hate to admit that. I haven’t really been paying attention to his music.

by Anonymousreply 41September 17, 2021 3:57 PM

R40

It won’t be because we have this thing called “freedom of speech”. Artists are allowed to express themselves sexually, and no amount of “concern” will change that.

by Anonymousreply 42September 17, 2021 3:58 PM

We also have this thing call "personal responsibility" which you use when you know that your "Art" is going youtube.

by Anonymousreply 43September 17, 2021 4:03 PM

I think he went too far with the condom And shower sex. Just kiss and hug each other, but don’t depict being gay as equivalent to be a loose sex addict

by Anonymousreply 44September 17, 2021 4:14 PM

R43

It’s clear that sexual content in music won’t just go away. Much of the public supports it (and of course many don’t, and they have that right as well). This is how the concept of free speech, expression, and market is supposed to work. It seems like you want to be a dictator.

by Anonymousreply 45September 17, 2021 4:14 PM

Is Billy Porter now just going to show up in EVERYTHING?

Now that he's tackled/trampled the role of Cinderella's fairy godmother, is he pushing Chiffon Margarine to go back into production just so he can play the role of Mother Nature?

by Anonymousreply 47September 17, 2021 4:16 PM

Promoting condoms is bad now?

Again, straight people have sexual content in music videos as well.

Stop being homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 48September 17, 2021 4:17 PM

You've completely missed my point. We're talking about two different things.

Raise a child. You will do anything to protect their innocence for as long as possible.

by Anonymousreply 49September 17, 2021 4:23 PM

I see Lil NAS X is an EST. 8/10.

by Anonymousreply 50September 17, 2021 4:25 PM

Well, now what will be done to push the envelope?

by Anonymousreply 51September 17, 2021 4:26 PM

Lil Nas X is more an extension of Rock and Roll than anything else. He is the new Lil Richard. I’m late to the scene, but Im loving it.

I don’t think he is really appropriate for young children. But there are worse influences.

by Anonymousreply 52September 17, 2021 4:29 PM

He is an extension of Lil Richard, had Lil Richard been real. But he was as fake as Liberace.

by Anonymousreply 53September 17, 2021 4:38 PM

R49

Yeah and that’s up to the parents, but everyone else shouldn’t have to lose their rights.

Besides, most kids over the age of 13 have seen worse than this censored music video.

by Anonymousreply 54September 17, 2021 4:39 PM

If only the music didn't suck.

by Anonymousreply 55September 17, 2021 4:43 PM

[quote]Raise a child. You will do anything to protect their innocence for as long as possible.

Newp. And just like all children for all times they will do anything to lose their innocence as soon as possible.

by Anonymousreply 56September 17, 2021 4:46 PM

Why do people keep spamming that “the music sucks” while the album is getting critically praised? Just admit that it’s not your kind of music without forcing your taste in music down the throats of those of us who love it.

by Anonymousreply 57September 17, 2021 4:46 PM

Getting paid to take your clothes off is every bottom's dream.

by Anonymousreply 58September 17, 2021 4:55 PM

Lil Nas X makes me want to go hetero.

by Anonymousreply 60September 17, 2021 5:08 PM

I think a lot of this is going right over people’s heads. What Nas X is doing is genius.

[quote]Lil Nas X makes me want to go hetero.

I doubt that you will be missed r60.

by Anonymousreply 62September 17, 2021 5:12 PM

"Every review is good. Not seen a single bad review."

No one wants to risk an SJW backlash.

The song is shit. The video is porn-ish gimmickry.

by Anonymousreply 63September 17, 2021 5:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 78September 17, 2021 6:37 PM

lil nas x’s creativity is off the fucking charts bro

also sun goes down is straight up beautiful

by Anonymousreply 79September 17, 2021 6:37 PM

I didn't say he only appealed to gays. I said if he keeps making videos like this it will only appeal to gays. geezzz

by Anonymousreply 80September 17, 2021 6:46 PM

"lil nas x’s creativity is off the fucking charts bro"

Sex and blasphemy is what passes for creativity nowadays? It's been done much better by far more talented artists.

(Thank goodness his fan base doesn't know any better.)

by Anonymousreply 81September 17, 2021 6:58 PM

Yikes, what’s with the puritans on this forum recently?

by Anonymousreply 82September 17, 2021 7:01 PM

I am incredibly happy for Lil Nas X. The album got a great review in "The Guardian." I applaud him for his success and showing male-male intimacy in his videos. I really liked that song at OP.

by Anonymousreply 83September 17, 2021 7:07 PM

No critic is going to give him a bad review because Twitter will go and destroy them. Our bar for "genius" has seriously eroded.

"Hey, did you see that music video where two guys make out in the shower?!"

"Yes! It was GENIUUUUUUSSSSSSS!!!!!"

by Anonymousreply 84September 17, 2021 7:15 PM

Actually it’s catchy and the best I’ve heard from him. Video is quite innovative and punchy, of course. But with the good sound it’s a winner

by Anonymousreply 85September 17, 2021 7:29 PM

The graphic gay stuff is almost a side note to what is going on here.

This guy has done what nobody else has done in modern history.

by Anonymousreply 86September 17, 2021 7:51 PM

I wanted to hate stuff. But it's good. It's pop, sure, his videos are groundbreaking. He is an inspiration like the Beatles, MJ and Madge were.

by Anonymousreply 87September 17, 2021 7:59 PM

The video is not about gratuitous sex, it's about falling in love and then having your heart broken.

by Anonymousreply 88September 17, 2021 8:06 PM

This is a great song. The Video is mediocre

by Anonymousreply 89September 17, 2021 8:09 PM

While he's good at being provocative and all that, I find his videos lack and "art/creative" element. The sets, angles, editing and lighting are like something off a budget Netflix production although the concepts are strong.

by Anonymousreply 90September 17, 2021 8:18 PM

A better question would be who the hell would top that. he's a mess and ugly

R131, why can't you make a video about finding love and monogamy and let Li'l Nas X (and every other artist) do what they want to do?

by Anonymousreply 132September 18, 2021 9:39 AM

It’s not explicit at all. You people are weird. Lots of homophobia here obviously. Just enjoy the damn song.

by Anonymousreply 135September 18, 2021 10:11 AM

Do you realise how much porn most 12 year old boys have seen on their phones? Get real.

by Anonymousreply 136September 18, 2021 10:23 AM

It’s funny how triggering mild depictions of gay sex (the heterosexual equivalent of which you’d get in 90s family movies) are to many of you.

For goodness sake, Love Victor had a more explicit gay sex scene a few months ago and that was a kids’ show.

I think maybe if they weren’t ‘big scary negroes’ you guys would accept it. George Sear and Michael Cimino = your qualms disappear. Typical DL.

by Anonymousreply 137September 18, 2021 1:03 PM

Kudos to Nas for making a musical video about sexuality just as straight guys do. Only him and Troye have the guts to do it. Other musicians thst came out about the sam sex attraction, although it was a brsve thing to do, are still very shy and somehow ashamed. Steve Lacy made almost a soft porn about making out with a woman in Freestyle outro, but in Internet Come over video, where each member of thr band was presenting their sexusulity, so Syd was with a girl and Steve with a guy, while others were in not sexual, but intimate positions with partners, Steve snd guy looked like two strangers waiting on the bus station. Tyler the troll, although it was all fiction, made a same sex themed song A boy is a gun, and in video it seemed the boy was some guest who came to spend the weekend hunting, but there was some falling out, maybe over deer. Frank Ocean zero point, too.

by Anonymousreply 138September 18, 2021 1:29 PM

Also add to the shy gays: Sufjan Stevens. His music would be better if he came out and put more open gayness into his art.

by Anonymousreply 139September 18, 2021 1:31 PM

Conclusion, Nas and Troye are the only real men, with balls, others are sissies.

by Anonymousreply 140September 18, 2021 1:34 PM

Troye isn't gay anymore.

The tumblrinas are cautioning people not to bandwagon or stan too hard, for fear of backlash.

Tumblr user bananonbinary admonishes:

[quote] hope yall are being careful with lil nas x; he’s a very good and entertaining performer, but he’s still not your friend. i’m not saying he’s secretly horrible, but the familiarity from like his twitter and tik tok and all is just part of the performance. In a very real way, lil nas x doesn’t actually exist; he’s just a character Montero Lamar Hill plays for our amusement. don’t forget that.

by Anonymousreply 152September 18, 2021 5:49 PM

I have nothing against him but he's gotten A LOT of mileage out of being a bottom.

by Anonymousreply 153September 18, 2021 5:51 PM

Lil Nas X adds very little to culture and society.

by Anonymousreply 154September 18, 2021 5:54 PM

He's 22 r131, would you believe him if he started writing songs about finding "the one" and settling down and getting married? He's writing songs that reflect the normal experiences of his age: feeling horny, trying to get laid, heartbreak and disappointment. These are all learning experiences we need to go through before finding "the one".

by Anonymousreply 155September 18, 2021 6:21 PM

Lil Nas X got that body-ody-ody-ody. And that other guy is fineeeee. I’m not sure if they are actually exclusively dating but didn’t seem like they had to rehearse that

I love the video.

I really like Lil’ Nas X. I’m 34, I wish he was around when I was a teenager or someone gay was that gutsy.

And I love that he’s being as sexual as any rapper or pop star today.

Most gay singers usually play narrator in their videos, watching a straight couple and shit. Or presenting ambiguous nonsense.

Kudos to him.

And I’m glad he’s pissing off the homophobes and now looking at this thread, self hating gay men.

by Anonymousreply 160September 18, 2021 11:40 PM

He’s trash, his music and video are trash and he has no talent. Gay men should support gay men who deserve the support due to their talent.

by Anonymousreply 161September 18, 2021 11:43 PM

I'm not into his music but I do appreciate what he's doing for the community.

r161 gay men have supported Madonna and other women with limited musical talents, so I dont see a problem with supporting LNX

by Anonymousreply 162September 18, 2021 11:55 PM

R162 Hagdonna made songs that were at least passable as decent pop music!!

by Anonymousreply 163September 18, 2021 11:57 PM

R138, you forgot Steve Grand.

by Anonymousreply 164September 19, 2021 5:33 AM

I love Lil Nas's music. He's hugely talented and his songs are not just great bops but he pushes boundaries musically too. It's going to be very interesting to see him develop as a songwriter and performer.

by Anonymousreply 165September 19, 2021 6:35 AM

I was concerned that X hadn’t brought a douche to use before his big scene. Then I saw Billy Porter and realized he had.

by Anonymousreply 166September 19, 2021 6:45 AM

R165 ["...he pushes boundaries musically too."]

by Anonymousreply 167September 19, 2021 11:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 168September 19, 2021 12:41 PM

Black gay country r167. Rap crossed with rock. Pop with art music. His music is unlike almost everything else around right now. And it's authentic and raw, unlike someone like Harry Styles who has had a whole "serious" image manufactured for him, with supposedly sophisticated pop songs that sound like they were produced by a computer program after some specs had been input. Nas is only 22 and is still at a very early stage in his career, with only one album out. His music will mature and evolve.

by Anonymousreply 169September 19, 2021 1:08 PM

"His music is unlike almost everything else around right now."

His music is like all the other shitty forgettable shit out there.

by Anonymousreply 170September 19, 2021 1:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 174September 19, 2021 2:44 PM

He's singing about wanting someone to love him but some of you are still focusing on the sex in the video. You are missing the point that he's looking for sex in order to find love and it doesn't work. This isn't just a gay thing, straight people have been pushing sex as a way to find love for a long time.

People in general need to grow the fuck up and realize that if you want love you have to be ready to take the time to look for it. Gay people had no choice, all we could do was look for sex in order to find love. . . or just the sex if that's all we wanted. Now we have a choice.

by Anonymousreply 175September 19, 2021 2:58 PM

Yes, we get the point.

by Anonymousreply 176September 19, 2021 2:59 PM

[quote]Why cant he make a video about finding love and monogamy?

Erm, because he's a 22-year-old dude?

The other guy in the video is his real-life boyfriend btw.

by Anonymousreply 177September 19, 2021 3:02 PM

If Lil Nas X can sustain a healthy relationship for twenty years and then make a music video about that, then maybe I'll give him the time of day.

by Anonymousreply 178September 19, 2021 3:05 PM

[quote]If Lil Nas X can sustain a healthy relationship for twenty years and then make a music video about that, then maybe I'll give him the time of day.

by Anonymousreply 179September 19, 2021 3:09 PM

r175 why should LNX feel pressure to convey that message in his music? When other rappers are out here rapping about how wet their pussies are? I think a better answer is to support more gay musical acts so you can select an artist who sings about things you feel strongly about.

by Anonymousreply 180September 19, 2021 3:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 190September 19, 2021 4:06 PM

Lil Nas X was genuinely charming in the Old Town Road song/video.

He's lost some of that charm now. He's become the male version of Megan Thee Stallion. He's cheapened his brand.

by Anonymousreply 191September 19, 2021 4:19 PM

[quote]The tumblrinas are cautioning people not to bandwagon or stan too hard, for fear of backlash.

Tumblrinas are insipid reactionary twits, but that's good advice. Like with the John Mulaney situation these Tumblr/Twitter fans ignore the fact that performers do just that - perform. Their public facing persona is not who they are and then when these entertainers do something that strays from these fans' perception of how the entertainer is they want to cancel them. They already tried it with Lil Nas X not too long ago when they dug up tweets from his old Nicki Minaj fan account where he was being a typical stan disparaging Nicki's rivals.

by Anonymousreply 192September 19, 2021 4:26 PM

I love LNX and he’s got a nice ass.

by Anonymousreply 193September 19, 2021 5:01 PM

R190, i feel bad for Lil Nas and his label for spending so much money on 6 months of social media marketing, promos, pregnancy prosthetics, controversial music videos production just to be number 2 and less than 200k of album sales.

by Anonymousreply 205September 19, 2021 8:00 PM

R201, You need to finally realize that many or most gay men are not the stereotypical hedonists you are, or the people you hang around with. Perhaps, you have been living in a small world of gay men that does not represent the larger diversity in the community.

by Anonymousreply 231October 2, 2021 6:15 PM

I am NOT a fan of Little Nas in terms of look, music or aesthetic. However, he is AWESOME! Madonna used to always say that you have to keep putting things in people's faces for them to eventually accept it. He is a pioneer. There has been no openly gay male major pop star/rapper EVER who has done anything even remotely like this. Adam Lambert might be the closest, but he is the "safe" option of American Idol. His rebellion was maybe kissing a guy and wearing black eye liner. Little Nas is paving the way not only for gays but breaking through the toxic self hating of black gays/community. GO LITTLE NAS!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 232October 2, 2021 6:22 PM

Little Nas X is also a Grammy winner? Didn't he win a Grammy for his song with Billy Ray Cyrus?

by Anonymousreply 233October 2, 2021 6:24 PM

He has already secured his place in history

by Anonymousreply 234October 2, 2021 6:41 PM

His songs are catchy and thats all you need nowadays, they dont have to be good, its pop music after all. I really thought he was nothing but a one hit wonder, among the flash in the pans of 2 years ago— Lizzo, Billie Eilish he was the one who didnt establish much if himself then. But he looks to have found his lane and I think he has staying power.

by Anonymousreply 235October 2, 2021 6:44 PM

I think he is very brave for breaking down barriers in a hyper masc black industry. It's pretty amazing. Gen Z is very cool. They are so interesting and open. It's the millenials who suck balls and I say that as the oldest of them.

by Anonymousreply 236October 2, 2021 6:47 PM
