WHET Edward Burns?
I remember back in the late 90s/early 00s he seemed to come out of nowhere and was one of the new “It” boys, being cast in random movies. Then poof, it seems like he vanished. The last high profile movie he did was a fucking movie with Tyler Perry 🤢.
WTF happened to his career???
I used to have such a crush on him when I was. Teen in the early 00s. I found him so sexy and suave. He also had a mysticism about him.

Yeah, his career seemed to fizzle out and I was never much of a fan, but I agree he was super hot, even with the high-pitched voice.
But - Burns is a perfect example of how the morons in the latest Woody Allen thread get it all wrong when they claim Woody had no influence. The movies Ed Burns made are simply not possible without the example of Woody Allen . He has said as much himself. From the best (Albert Brooks, Larry Sanders, Spike Lee) to the mediocre (Ed Burns, Judd Apatow) to everyone in between (Chris Rock, Noah Baumbach, Lena Dunham), Woody's influence is everywhere.

He was young and starring in and directing his own indie movies. But he was bland and didn't seem to have a lot to say about the human condition that hadn't already been said before. I wasn't interested in the Gen-X take on East Coast Irish Catholics. And I was never attracted to him which further curtailed any potential interest. I remember getting an arrogant vibe off him. I can't say that I'm surprised he peaked pretty much with his debut. Maybe Ben and Matt stole his thunder?

It was only later that I sorta got the feeling he was flirting with me.
Brian, like Ed, is the biggest asshole on Earth.
And don't buy the street-smart Queens routine. He was rich and connected. The reason he got to shoot "The Brothers McMullin" in the first place was because his Dad was a high-ranking NYPD official whose job it was to coordinate filming permits so everyone in Hollywood owed him a favor. He cashed in all of them to get basically a free crew for the movie.

He had a series this year. I watched his last series Public Morals. It was fine. It was the kind of series I put on in the kitchen while I'm doing other things. Like a radio drama. I watched 10 minutes of Bridge and Tunnel and saw the content and mood and Sam Vartholomeos, so I downloaded it but I haven't watched it yet. I watched 4 episodes of Truth be Told, a quite mediocre series, this one with Kate Hudson showing strange plastic surgery face. I mention it because its also the kind of series I can follow without having to pay close attention, while doing other things. I could listen to music but I like to follow the cheap stories and enjoy the shoddy performances by OK actors capable of better.

Also Edward Burns' turned into a hunk. He's a classic DILF. He was OK when he was quite young - just another cute MIC. It was when he got thicker in his 30s that he was sexy as fuck. This held for years and years.
Aidan Quinn was another New York Irish stud of that era. In his case he was pretty when he was a young man. And then miraculously, he was a late middle age DILF. Almost a Grandpa I'd Like to Fuck. He wasn't even fit in Elementary but I found him super sexy.
Elementary was an excellent example of the "kitchen TV" series. It's a pity Edward Burns didn't let himself be directed and do a 5 year run in such a series as a total DILF.
