Does he live in the Governor's Trailer? He's not a piece of shit; he's an entire shit. I blame the parents. He's fat too.
Ron DeSantis is trash.

Frankly, all this time he's been in the news, I'm surprised he's not some type of DL icon that people want to fuck or hate-fuck. He is sort of Joe Rogan-ish in looks. (Burly everyman, etc.)

This film nailed it. DeSantis has been intentionally hiding the true numbers, Florida deaths 47,000+ and gong like a speedball towards the total of deaths in the Vietnam war.
So grateful to live in a state where the governor believes in science.

DeSantis is pissed that the Federal government has cut his supply of monoclonal antibody treatment. This is what happens when you do not push vaccinations and put an anti-vaxxer on your podium who says the vaccine will alter your DNA
DeSantis has been pushing monoclonal antibody treatment over vaccinations. His biggest donor is the CEO of this company.

I still think the voting polls were rigged and Andrew Gillum actually won. Gillum probably knew, was frustrated he couldn't do anything about it, and that's what caused him to spiral so sensationally.
One day the truth will come out.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 17, 2021 7:37 AM |
I've been saying for years that Florida elections have been rigged since 2020. Do some research on a guy named Clint Curtis. He was a programmer (and a Republican) who was asked by his employer to write code to "flip the vote" on Florida voting machines. He was appalled and refused to do it. He testified before Congress (they did nothing) and there's even a movie about him out there somewhere. The thing that stuck with me all these years was that they told him that the person who wins doesn't have to win by a lot, only by a little, and they'll still win -- and that's how Republicans have been winning in Florida ever since.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 17, 2021 11:31 AM |
I'm sorry -- I meant to say that FL elections have been rigged since 2000.

He is doing all of this for naught. He thinks he will be the heir apparent to Trump in 2024, but Trump is going to run again and will savage Ron if the Floridian decides to challenge him.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | September 17, 2021 11:55 AM |
I was scared of him but the way he’s handled the disastrous COVID situation in FL gives me hope that he’s blown his chances of going national. But one can never underestimate the depravity of Republican voters.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 30, 2021 4:26 PM |
Ron hasn't been a great governor, but it's really pushing plausibility to argue that Gillum didn't win "because of corruption". Florida might be increasingly 'purple', but you'd have to be completely divorced from reality to think a Progressive Democrat has any meaningful chance in HELL of winning a statewide office in Florida anytime soon.
I think Charlie Crist has a decent shot at beating Ron Desantis in the next election. He'll probably escort a few elected Republicans over to the Democratic side of the aisle in the state legislature in places like Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa/St. Pete. But make no mistake... the state as a whole might become more nominally "purple", with a few more splotches of blue, but Florida isn't going to magically become a bastion of progressivism. It'll be kind of like Texas and Georgia in the 1970s, with Democrats who are slightly to the right of an average northeastern Republican running the show who'll tend to support a Democratic Majority in the House and Senate, but won't hesitate to draw Sinema-like lines in the sand they simply won't cross.
Today, the Democratic Party is in a hard spot because it needs the support of 100% of Democrats to pass anything, and the left and rightmost Democrats have almost irreconcilable differences. Turn 2 or 3 Republicans into Sinema-like Democrats in the next election, and BOTH the Trumpians AND Progressives will become increasingly irrelevant and fucked... the Trumpians won't be able to hold everything hostage, and Pelosi & Company won't NEED AOC's support to Get Things Done. The unpopular portions of the Green New Deal (ie, anything that demands actual sacrifice) will be decisively killed off, the Democrats will gleefully shed that albatross, and invest the political dividends by growing rightward to achieve an unassailable center-right supermajority flanked by noisy (but increasingly powerless) rabble-rousers and whiners at both extremes.

The best Florida has to offer????!! Then again, Florida does have gaetz, scott (who should be in prison for senior fraud!), former pam bondi (shilled for scientology as did the former mayor or florida) and on and on and on!..
by Anonymous | reply 40 | September 30, 2021 5:06 PM |
R39 Barney was kinda cute and jovial. I see DeSantis more like Fred Flintstone (who was also prone to blow up often and always looks and sounds kinda dumb).
R38 the fact that Gillum did so well in the polls shows that Florida is gettable by the Dems. Can you imagine Trump's adopted home state going Blue? LOL
I agree that Florida will probably never be California or Washington DC, but if the Democrats can stop catering to the far left they could be viewed as the only sane party and flip Florida Blue because the GOP (all parts of it) is Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 30, 2021 6:13 PM |
I think Gillum had a "Trump Boost" of his own... independents who held their nose and voted for him because they completely DESPISED Trump, and saw Desantis as Trump's puppet.
Being completely honest, if I woke up tomorrow morning, it was Election Day 2018, I know what I know now, and I had to choose between Desantis and Meg Whitmer (instead of Gillum) for governor, I probably would have held my nose and grudgingly voted for Desantis, based ENTIRELY upon how both ultimately handled the pandemic in 2020. I don't approve of how Desantis is handling things NOW, but my present disapproval is less vehement than my disapproval of Whitmer would have been LAST summer.
I swear to god, if Whitmer had been governor of Florida and tried forcing police to rope off aisles with "non-essential" merchandise at stores like Home Depot in FLORIDA, there would have been wholesale civil disobedience across the state, and she would have literally had to choose between looking the other way as shoppers in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa bought paint & laminate flooring, or sent in armed state troopers or National Guardsmen to enforce her orders at gunpoint.
Desantis walked a very fine, delicate line last summer, and mostly achieved the goal of reducing covid's early spread without completely pissing off Floridians by going overboard. Floridians have very little tolerance for paternalism by government officials.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 30, 2021 8:21 PM |
Florida is very corrupt. There's a very popular police chief from Austin who they lured to come and handle the department and deal with corruption. The police chief wrote a memo about the corruption and now police commissioners - who are corrupt-- want to fire him.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 30, 2021 11:29 PM |
DeathSantis also hired a new surgeon general who doesn't believe in vaccines. What is wrong with that state??!!!
[quote] It’s a doctor named Joseph Ladapo who was last seen on the national stage participating in a COVID miracle cure event with another doctor who believes that lizard people control the government and that demons cause gynecological problems by implanting stolen sperm, as well as a third doctor who later got arrested for being part of the mob that smashed into the U.S. Capitol in an effort to overturn the presidential election.

Miami isn't "corrupt" so much as "incompetent". Dade County's biggest single problem is the fact that it's now something like the 40th biggest economy on earth, but still acts like an overgrown big small town. Cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles have had almost 200 years to come to terms with being big cities. Miami International Airport has an annual budget exceeding the GDP of some Caribbean island nations, but still acts like it's just a bunch of good 'ol boys running the County Fair.
Broward and Palm beach Counties aren't quite as bad, because half of THEIR populations began their careers IN cities like New York, so they kind of understand how big cities are supposed to be run. Due to historic Cuban insularity within Dade County, most of Miami's local government officials are "homegrown", and have literally never lived or worked outside of Dade County in their lives. There's some corruption, to be sure... but much of it is just plain insular provincial incompetence.
Tampa and Jacksonville have similar problems. Orlando USED to, but it NOW has enough "outsiders" in its government to bootstrap it into competence the way Broward & PBC do.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 1, 2021 5:36 AM |
^^^ Incidentally, the observation about the insularity and provincialism of Dade County's government officials and administrators is nothing new. When I was in college, I took a class about county management, and our professor spent most of the semester pointing out just how provincial and insular Dade County's government actually WAS. Something like 97% of the county's elected officials and administrators were born in Dade County (or at least, moved there as children), grew up there, went to college there, and had NO professional experience EVER working anywhere BESIDES Dade County. Literally, their entire horizon was framed by the Broward County Line, the Everglades, the Atlantic, and the Keys. He said that when "outsiders" DID get hired, they usually ran away screaming within months, desperate to escape before their careers were tainted for life by blatant, obvious scandals taking place in full view of everyone that nobody already working for Dade County thought was the least bit weird or unusual, because it was all they'd ever known. They literally thought it was normal.

R47 obviously isnt a floridian if he thinks Miami isnt corrupt, just incompetent. Honey,it is corrupt beyond belief and has been for most of its tenure as a city. Those hispanics run that city like they are back in their home countries. Im half Cuban so I can talk about them. Most of the Medicaid fraud in the state is from there, and 95% of those doctors are latinos. Note after that condo collapse all of a sudden they are condeming buildings like crazy, never mind they sit on very valuable land, right?Jax is a whole other kettle of fish. Its always had potential to be a great city, but the good ole boy network (very much alive and well) isnt ever going to let that happen. Lets put it this way,1st Baptist Church bought up half of downtown, and before you know it all the bars and clubs and x rated theaters and shops and restaurants, etc, etc were closed. Permanently. They tore down a black historic district called LaVilla and destroyed a community that had been there since the civil war. I could go on and on.

by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 1, 2021 11:25 PM |
R50 the springs are lovely, its a very beautiful area, but the heat in summer will kill you dead. It sits smack in the middle of the state so no sea breeze. Lots of horse ranchers there and lots of money too. Ive been there many times and I cant say I ever had an unpleasant experience, but who knows if that has changed since the decade or so since I was there last.
