Donald O'Connor was a better dancer than Gene Kelly

O'Connor's lanky frame gave his dancing a better look.

Gene Kelly has a thick build, and he sometimes looked like a gorilla dancing.

This was especially evident in the video above, during the part where O'Connor, Reynolds, and Kelly are doing ballet moves.

Debbie looks short and stumpy, Gene Kelly looks like a gorilla, and Donald O'Connor looks like a lithe ballet dancer.

Gene Kelly relied more on his athleticism to dance. He was at his best doing flips and tumbles. He didn't have the grace of movement that a real dancer has.

He was better in Moses Supposes, also.

Donald O'Connor's timing and form were impeccable.

His dancing instincts were always perfect, which I assume comes from the fact that he grew up dancing on stage. It was second nature to him.

Sandra Day O'Connor was a better dancer than Gene Kelly.
