Tonight's Dinner — You will think I'm just being provocative

Tonight I'm making....

[bold] Poached Cod in Tomato Sauce with Prunes! [/bold]

Yes, I really am. It's so good and has been a few weeks since I made it last.

Now, what type of Mediterranean side dish should I make? I am thinking of making rice since it will absorb all the delicious sauce that this recipe yields.

by Anonymousreply 65September 19, 2021 5:45 AM

Be sure to drain your rice and prunes.
Fuck off Greg. Come back with something interesting.

No, I think I'll stick with this for now. I am sautéing my onions now and have just finished cutting the prunes into thirds.

by Anonymousreply 8September 10, 2021 11:32 PM

You old fucks enough with the fucking recipes and whipping shit up in the kitchen. Are you that fucking bored?

Greg, I hope your stove explodes and takes you with it.

by Anonymousreply 11September 10, 2021 11:54 PM

What will Gregg think of this?

by Anonymousreply 12September 10, 2021 11:57 PM

[quote} Greg, I hope your stove explodes and takes you with it.

Not a chance. I have an induction cooktop.

Sounds disgusting but this thread is a hoot. Bon appetit!

by Anonymousreply 16September 11, 2021 1:42 AM

An unusual Mediterranean side dish is farro. (Basically, a kind of primitive wheat berry). Delicious cooked with broth and maybe mushrooms, or with butter and parmesan cheese. Needs long cooking though - maybe at least an hour if not pearled, and maybe 25 minutes if pearled. It can be soaked before cooking to shorten cooking time.

by Anonymousreply 17September 11, 2021 2:01 AM

Tabouleh is generally a good Mediterranean side dish.

by Anonymousreply 18September 11, 2021 2:31 AM

We heard this shit already.

Tomorrow: my recipe for Sow Belly, Cod, Prunes and Ragu.

It’s a lovely meal for love birds.
Tomorrow: my recipe for Sow Belly, Cod, Prunes and Ragu. It’s a lovely meal for love birds.

Wow! It sounds delicious, Gregg.

So grab your honey, and settle down for a supper of sow belly dressed in the traditional manner with prugne e salsa di pomodoro.

I’m having a double whopper with cheese onion rings and a large sprite.. Sorry for not being gay fancy enough for you.. Mincing queens whipping something up in the kitchen.

I trust you will be deglazing the pan with poppers.

Thanks for your comments! A double Whopper with cheese and onion rings sounds delicious. No need to apologize. Not knowing you, my expectations are pretty non-existent. But I don't think we're a good match. It's funny that you think people who cook for themselves are mincing queens.

You didn't get a Frosty?

Of course. Greedy Pig gets the job done.

Julia, how we miss you. There are so many rubes out here. People who can't imagine eating cod with tomato sauce, and prunes. They really don't know what they're missing.

by Anonymousreply 27September 11, 2021 4:42 AM

I made Greg's cod fish tonight. But instead of cod and prunes, i used frosted flakes. I poured milk over it instead of tomato sauce.

Greg seems the type that would cut his double whopper with cheese into quarters and calling it a canapé.

by Anonymousreply 31September 11, 2021 3:22 PM

My first job was working in the kitchens of HM the Queen. She used to beg for my Prawns, Prunes, Cod Load in Ragu.

by Anonymousreply 47September 12, 2021 12:50 PM

r47 didn't realize there were two but I am going to say Both. these threads are so refreshing from all the crap that is going on in the world.

Oh, there are two all right. The original Greg who shares his recipes and has style and class. And his doppelgänger with two gs.

A quick and savory summer repast

Cod Head Salad

Remember the Cod heads I told you to save for later??

Take a bag of American iceberg salad and rinse

Add fresh tomatoes and any other veggies you have around

Pour a bottle of MD20/20 over the salad and a full bottle of olive oil (don’t stint!)

Pour pint of whole milk over salad and toss

Arrange Cod heads on top of salad

Sprinkle with vegan cheddar shreds

Garnish with maraschino cherries

Delish: share with friends!!!!

by Anonymousreply 52September 12, 2021 2:14 PM

I give this recipe ★★★

I didn't have iceberg lettuce so I used rocket.

I used MD 20/20 Golden Pineapple.

I used 2% milk.

I didn't have maraschino cherries, so I used pineapple rings.

SO GOOD! It needs a blanket of béchamel, however, to be able to claim the elusive fourth star.

by Anonymousreply 53September 12, 2021 2:25 PM

Yes Greg. Milky sauces make everything better including desserts.

by Anonymousreply 54September 12, 2021 2:53 PM

First, let me carefully establish a boundary. I am not a “fan,” Greg. However, your relentless good cheer in the face of what people clearly intend as devastating putdowns is refreshing.

I’m sick of seeing threads devolve into one-on-one pissing contests between people whose egos simply won’t permit them to just LEAVE IT.

So, prance on, you little maniac. You’re doing a good thing.

Well, I'm disappointed that you are not one of my "fans" but thank you for your standing in support of my relentless good cheer.

What can I do to change your fan status? Perhaps I am misunderstood by many on here.

I made a jar of refrigerator pickles the night before last but had to wait until last night to taste them. I ate half the jar last night, and the rest of the jar this morning.

Homemade pickles are such a treat!

by Anonymousreply 58September 12, 2021 4:17 PM

Homemade pickles are only a treat if the pickler (?) knows his/her game. I have had some shitty horrible homemade pickles.

As it the case with most things.

by Anonymousreply 60September 12, 2021 8:57 PM

I like a good pickle on top of some nice Vanilla ice cream or as a lovely edible garnish on cherry pie. Pickles also go great backed in Mac-Cheese. For a quick pick me up, stuff a dill full of chocolate.

YUM

I’ve made myself hungry.
