Pretty on the outside...

It’s giving me Haunted Mansion vibes.

Whoever designed that kitchen should be shot.

Just finished the entire series of photos. The modern remodel on the back made me audibly gasp. The architect needs to be tarred, feathered and then shot.

It's a fine house.
Less all of the present owners' furnishings and some of the decorative finishes, the 50 shades of taupe and manilla folder paint, the ugly burgundy whorehouse 1970s renovation wallpapers, the jungle motifs..., And reworking of the toilets and the kitchen. Not a huge project at all to reveal the architecture and scale and proportion under all the owners' heavy stamp of their glitzy billboard-on-the-highway law partner style.
I don't love the rear addition, but wouldn't remove it. Presumably it handles a lot of modern functions in toilets and the kitchen.
If I recall this house has been for sale for a long time, a classic Mobile side-hall plan mid 19thC house, the same as classic in nearby New Orleans.

I'm embarrassed at how trashy this is.

no pool.

A beautiful house marred by terrible interiors, but everything looks fixable.

Just a little bitty pissant country place, nothin' much to see...
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 10, 2021 8:51 AM |
Exactly, R9. Moving trucks will do most of the fixing and the house and new owner can heave a great long sigh of relief.
Then it's the wallpaper and painted finishes, updating the bathrooms and the kitchen, and that raggedy-ass zigurat form deck in the back. Even the kitchen wouldn't be a big deal: move the stove to an exterior wall where it belongs and replace that ?-shaped island with a straight run of cabinetry and countertop for something of a galley/island hybrid, replace the cabinet doors and paint the whole lot. It would be world's improved and nice, even, by a few simple fixes.
