The counter to this is many. Charlotte was Queen for 57 years and would have been seen by thousands and thousands of people, including bitchy courtiers and many many diplomats and ambassadors. Some with less than flattering ideas about England. If there was a way that someone could shit on England at that time , including the American Colonists and the French they would have said a lot. She and her husband (George III) were descended from the same allegedly "black" ancestor via Queen Caroline. Neither Queen Caroline or her descendants were described as looking partially black or having black features. Nor were any of the other Mecklenburg-Strelitz family. Queen Charlotte's father and mother both appear entirely white in the portraits as do her siblings.

I personally think it would be interesting if Charlotte had been visibly biracial but contemporary evidence for that is extremely sketchy.

The claims of her black ancestry are based on a Jamaican writer's nonsensical assumption that, because she had a big nose and thick lips in ONE portrait, then she must have surely been black. Then, 59 years later, a PBS writer used these rather baseless claims to say that this was undiable proof of her direct African ancestry, and spread the falsehood that she was black (please, refer to the link below).

Madragana was, in all likelihood, a Berber and NOT a black woman (guess what? Berber people are white) was separated by Charlotte of Mecklenburg by 14 generations, or 500 years. It's impossible for a person to be "black" based on such tenuous ancestry.

The problem is not that people might have been black, but the fact that history is being childishly altered to suit a political narrative that is nothing more than cheap effectism. Whether people like it or not, European history is not inextricably linked to Africa, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent, and the fact that some immigrants feel alienated because they cannot easily identify with their host culture, doesn't make European achievements wrong. It simply means that it takes several generations for immigrant communities to become fully assimilated into their new nation's culture. Pretending that this is inherently racist or somehow immoral, is as absurd as completely changing history on whim.
