Do you prefer the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean?

This should’ve been a poll.

Atlantic is better for swimming, especially in the South.

Pacific has much, much more natural beauty.

In North America, I've lived on both coasts; Atlantic is much warmer for swimming, so I prefer it...but no hurricanes on the Pacific coast. Each are incredibly beautiful in unique ways.

The mountains meeting the ocean along the Pacific Coast Hwy is a breath taking view unmatched by anything along the Atlantic

In Costa Rica you can drive from the Atlantic to the Pacific in one day.

You're obviously not from New England, especially not New Hampshire or Maine.

I have lived near both. There is nothing that compares to the Pacific Ocean from Pebble Beach to The Canadian border. I live in Washington State. Don't visit us! Do visit SoCal!!!

Also I don't know if it's strictly considered to be on the Atlantic or not but Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland is spectacular.

I like the pacific better.

I prefer the topography along the Pacific coast.

In the summer? Water temps in Los Angeles can reach almost 70 degrees in summer. In Maine they range between 50 and 60 in summer. They even warn about hypothermia. It's the Labrador current.

R19 You may be right, I kind of gave up going in years ago.

The Pacific ocean is COLD. I wasn't prepared for that the first time I was a naive young thing visiting California. If you actually like to swim then unquestionably the Atlantic is better.

The Atlantic Ocean makes me look fat.

Neither. Icy cold for much of the year. I'll take the Indian Ocean any day.

I’ve lived on the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans. I’m a surfer, sailor and swimmer and work now occasionally in a field of medicine involving cetaceans.

From my experience involving currents, wildlife, topography and cleanliness, here is a perspective: Indian>Pacific>>>>Atlantic.

For many in the US, the Atlantic is warmer off the coast due to the current from the South. However the same currents result in less variety of wildlife and algae issues. Also waves (baring hurricanes) are less notable. There’s the joke that the US Atlantic is the “gray ocean”.

It's all about the Arctic Ocean, baby.

If he had actually gone into the water NYC would have been under 3 feet of water due to displacement. NYC is lucky he's afraid of sharks. The sharks call him BUFFET!

Atlantic is warmer. But I don't swim any more.

So I guess I prefer the Atlantic. I can walk there. The Pacific requires a plane ride.
