Living in Santa Barbara
Do you or have you lived in Santa Barbara? It is probably my favorite place in the continental US. I would love to live there—maybe someday! We used to go a few times a year when we lived a few hours from there.
Some random questions I have — where do you do your big shopping? Ventura or Santa Maria? Does it get boring living there? If you live in the city of Santa Barbara, how often do you go to the Santa Ynez Valley area? Will you adopt me?

OP, Santa Barbara is beautiful, but there is not much of a gay scene if that's a concern to you. It's a college town and loaded with natural beauty, but also fairly white and conservative.
If by "big shopping" you mean like higher-end retail / fashion, you're probably heading to Ventura, Thousand Oaks or LA for whatever you can't find locally along State Street or at Paseo Nuevo and La Cumbre. You're not going to find anything in higher-end in Santa Maria other than Macy's, and you can stay in Santa Barbara and go to La Cumbre for that. Santa Barbara's long-time Nordstrom store at Paseo Nuevo closed last year as they shed several locations due to covid, so anything nicer you need, you're heading south.
Good luck!

Thank you for the thoughtful reply, R2! I meant “Costco” when I said “big shopping,” ha!

The most beautiful place on earth. Very expensive though.

You could apply to work at Oprah’s giant estate in Montecito! You could be her official food slapper! You just have to follow her around all day and if she puts anything fattening near her mouth just slap it away!

^^It does make me a little salty that Meggy Sharp can go stroll Butterfly Beach and have dinner at Lucky’s whenever she wants.
