Kodi Smit-McPhee: The “It” boy of 2022

Inspired by another thread, I’m laying claim that Kodi will be the boy we will all be talking about next year as the awards potential of the Power of the Dog unfolds and Kodi assumes the mantel once held by Timmy emerging from CMBYN. Interesting, is he’s much older and better equipped to be the next big thing having worked extensively already. I recall his performance in that Planet of the Apes film as a standout for his emotional, empathetic, coltish performance. Don’t know much more about him, but maybe those from down under can fill us in? He seems much more a Troye Sivan type, then a Jacob Elordi Aussie.

Didnt he star in an X men film?

If he's straight or closeted, the gays will adore him. If he's gay, the gays will rip her to shreds.

R1 He played the younger version of Alan Cummings Nighcrawler character.

I’m kind of interested in seeing the remake of Gallipoli that he was in, though I loved and was so heartbroken by the original movie so much I’ve always been reluctant to watch it again in case it doesn’t hold up.

[quote] He seems much more a Troye Sivan type

Funnily enough, Troye totally ripped off a YouTube video of Kodi's once.

R5 Do tell!

by Anonymousreply 6September 6, 2021 3:42 PM

R6

It's the "parkour" bit at the 50s mark here.

I can't find Kodi's original video anymore, probably deleted, but it was the same bit.

Op, I don’t know what any of your words mean

by Anonymousreply 8September 6, 2021 3:53 PM

r3 Cheers. I wasn't sure if I was confusing him with Tye Sheridan.

by Anonymousreply 9September 6, 2021 4:26 PM

He has fish eyes. Way too far apart

by Anonymousreply 10September 6, 2021 5:18 PM

I really don't understand how anyone would confuse Kodi with Tye. Asa Butterfield maybe, but Tye? Get your eyes checked, R9.

I like him in Alpha and 2067.

He looks like Anne Hathaway, they should play siblings in a film. or tv show.

by Anonymousreply 14December 31, 2021 1:02 PM

Oh great another mediocre white boy Hollywood will declare a legend and force us to like.

by Anonymousreply 15December 31, 2021 1:04 PM

R12 Gurl, no.

by Anonymousreply 16December 31, 2021 1:06 PM

A thicker neck and traps would probably help him a lot.

by Anonymousreply 17December 31, 2021 1:07 PM

What the fuck is up with these twinky lesbian looking boys? Ugly as sin unless you’re into diddling young teens.

by Anonymousreply 19December 31, 2021 1:10 PM

R4, it's not a remake of THAT Gallipoli. It is a mini-series about the Gallipoli campaign. The boys in the movie were runners back home: in the mini-series Kodi is a country boy who is a crack shot with a rifle.

For some reason the mini-series didn't rate well in Australia, but it's very good. Maybe people thought it was a bit grim. The episode about Lone Pine is gruelling.

R19:

1. Non threatening option for teenage girls

2.Secret pedos in Hollywood love these guys.

3.Hollywood’s obsession with looking young.

by Anonymousreply 21December 31, 2021 1:18 PM

Dropped out of high school to pursue acting... That never bodes well.

by Anonymousreply 22December 31, 2021 1:23 PM

Stop, OP.

Just fucking stop.

by Anonymousreply 23December 31, 2021 1:31 PM

R21 teenage girls deserve better eye candy. Even if they do have to be non-threatening.

by Anonymousreply 24December 31, 2021 1:31 PM

I know him as the bullied kid in Let Me In who befriends vampire, Chloe Grace Moretz.

by Anonymousreply 25December 31, 2021 1:33 PM

R25 I recognized him right away from that movie. Have you seen the Swedish original? Far superior than the remake.

by Anonymousreply 26December 31, 2021 1:35 PM

R26 Yes, I have. It is very good.

by Anonymousreply 27December 31, 2021 1:36 PM

The book is really good too.

by Anonymousreply 28December 31, 2021 1:55 PM

Let Me In is good on its own.

by Anonymousreply 29December 31, 2021 1:59 PM

He was a brilliant child actor. Let Me In and especially The Road. He was heartbreaking.
