Was married to Richard Marx who has tons of money thanks to songwriting credits. Probably took him to the cleaners when they divorced.

R2 oh shit did not realize they got married
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 5, 2021 10:30 PM |
She's 64, had 3 kids with Richard Marx. According to the photos, did not fall into a trap of trying to look 24 forever.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 5, 2021 10:49 PM |
She looks terrific for 64. She could be Jessica Lange's younger sister.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 5, 2021 11:00 PM |
She looks good for her age , I applaud her cosmetic surgery restraint !!!!!

Penny was the only likeable character in Dirty Dancing. Cynthia had “it.”
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 6, 2021 12:00 AM |
She was also the best and most exciting dancer on Flashdance. Manhunt!

In the late 80s, she was in the band Animotion. After the band's second album flopped most of the members left, but the group carried on with new lead singers and they actually scored a top ten hit with Room to Move. They released one more single, it flopped and the band disappeared.

Her last acting credit was 30 years ago. Like Phoebe Cates and Bridget Fonda, they just want to live off their old mans money or ex in Rhodes case. The movie and tv industries have moved on long ago from them.

r4 She looks so spunky! Those photos scream "I'm the cool older dyke in your gated community, please pay no mind to my bevy of college-aged gal pals."

“He called!”
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 6, 2021 1:25 AM |
I used to hate her character on Staying Alive. But she was definitely a better dancer than Finola imo.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 6, 2021 12:14 PM |
Richard Marx said she had no interest in show biz. Was happy being a Mom.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 6, 2021 12:23 PM |
Did she at least run her own dance studio and do choreo for the odd music video?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 6, 2021 12:28 PM |
Didnt Richard Marx and Cynthia leave L.A. and raise their kids in Chicago? That pretty much always makes me feel like someone is a good egg, when they have the money to raise kids in Hollywood but choose to go somewhere more down to earth

I worked at a Toluca Lake restaurant and they came in all the time. They were really friendly but when she was pregnant, Marx would freak out if we accidentally gave them fries with salt - looking back, I guess I don’t blame him but he was so protective of her, as though she didn’t have her own voice. They seemed really in love way back then (early 90s) but I believe they had an acrimonious divorce. Side note: I read a bit about him mom last week - she was a jingle writer/singer.

Cynthia looks like Anne Murray.

R18 Just say Cynthia looks like a dyke.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 6, 2021 12:42 PM |
She was great.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 6, 2021 12:47 PM |
I guess her man hunt ended with Richard Marx?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 6, 2021 12:58 PM |
Does anyone know why they divorced? Maybe Marx started fucking Daisy Fuentes first? Kinda surprised me when they called it quits. I thought they’d be one of the long haul music industry couples.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 6, 2021 12:59 PM |
Don’t musicians basically have to wreck their lives every so often for musical inspiration?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 6, 2021 1:03 PM |
They divorced in 2014 and Richard married Daisy Fuentes in 2015 so yeah I’m guessing there was likely some overlap despite him saying on Twitter that he didnt cheat
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 6, 2021 1:19 PM |
I just saw Eric Carmen’s Hungry Eyes video. Cythnia dancing with Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze was - here’s an over used word - iconic. She brought icy eroticism that scene.
Screw Richard Marx for cheating on Penny!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 21, 2022 9:23 PM |
It's funny that Cynthia never disputed his claim of not cheating, or did she? Maybe she's the one who started messing around. I have a feeling that she had an epiphany that she was a lesbian and cheated with a woman first. She pulled a Meredith Baxter Birney.

What was the song from Staying Alive - “Never going to give you up for someone else’s love” - it was a montage and she was the “good girl” rehearsing with John Travolta - getting him ready for “bad girl” Finola Hughes - “JUMP!”

Astrid Plane murdered her for taking her place in Animotion.
Astrid was right to do so. The new Animotion, with none of the original members SUCKED, despite their hit from the terrible Kim Basinger movie.

I am not entirely convinced that that is her at R4. Similar, yes, but something is off when compared to other pictures.
And why is she dressed as an executive business woman looking for a lunch special on her way to reunion?
None of the sites that use that picture seem to be reputable. I.E. not exactly People magazine doing a Where Are They Now profile on her.
That being said, I loved her in DD, Staying Alive and Flashdance. I remarkable talent.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 22, 2022 12:14 AM |
R4 Her face looks great. If she dyed her hair, she'd look much younger.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 22, 2022 12:18 AM |
I always thought Cynthia was really talented. She stole scenes in Staying Alive, Flashdance and Dirty Dancing. And she gave very good performances in all three of them. In fact, Staying Alive is a camp classic, but Cynthia is the only one in that film who gives a good performance. And at least Flashdance and Dirty Dancing are iconic classics, so she will always have those and people won't forget her. She could probably command some decent money from conventions.
I wonder what happened between her and Marx. Marx is very active on Twitter and he gets into a lot of rows with people, including Scott Baio. I never imagined that Marx, who wrote the earnest ballad Right Here Waiting, would turn out to be such an active anti-Trump, anti-MAGA tweeter but I've got to give him credit, he calls out a lot of assholes. I wonder if he and Rhodes' political leanings differed or they just grew apart.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 22, 2022 1:02 AM |
Here is Rhodes from 2016. She really doesn't court the spotlight. Kudos for her for turning her back on Hollywood. I wonder if she had any Weinstein-like experiences.

This song always stood out from Staying Alive to me. Didn't know that Sylvester Stallone's brother wrote it (he wrote the entire soundtrack, I believe) and that she did a music video to it.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 22, 2022 1:18 AM |
Richard grew up in Chicago. That’s why they ended up there instead of LA. I heard there was heavy drinking involved. She looks quite puffy in the more recent photo.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 22, 2022 6:13 AM |
I love Staying Alive and the soundtrack. It's too bad Frank Stallone turned out to be such an asshole.
