Theo James

Gorgeous guy, I think. I'm surprised he's not discussed more on DL.

by Anonymousreply 44January 7, 2024 7:11 PM

Mr Pamuk -- he fucked himself to death!

by Anonymousreply 1August 29, 2021 10:11 PM

Poor Mr. Pamuk...

He failed to land a profitable franchise when he was at his buzziest.

by Anonymousreply 2August 29, 2021 10:12 PM

He is kind of weird looking -- sometimes he can look extremely handsome, other times he looks inhuman. Almost like a kid's drawing of a handsome man.

In the Brit tv show Sanditon, James proves he can't really act but he does prove that he wears clothes beautifully. So much so it makes you want to dress like the 19th century.

by Anonymousreply 3August 29, 2021 10:12 PM

WHET Theo?

by Anonymousreply 4August 29, 2021 10:13 PM

Some pics, mostly shirtless.
He is kind of weird looking -- sometimes he can look extremely handsome, other times he looks inhuman.

I can relate to this remark especially the latter part.

by Anonymousreply 7August 29, 2021 10:20 PM
I'm surprised he's not discussed more on DL.

There have been numerous threads about him over the years as there have been about another DL fave, his Theo's Australian equivalent Brenton Thwaites. Another thread is not unwelcome though.

by Anonymousreply 8August 29, 2021 10:21 PM

They should resurrect him as an incubus shagging us all in the new Downton Abbey flicker.

Paradoxically, Lady Mary's death vagina was the best thing that ever happened to him.

by Anonymousreply 10August 29, 2021 10:29 PM

Is there such a thing as a Turk with a smooth chest? Not that I've ever seen.

by Anonymousreply 11August 29, 2021 10:31 PM

Do you think Kate Winslet and him ever did the deed?

by Anonymousreply 12August 29, 2021 10:33 PM
Is there such a thing as a Turk with a smooth chest?

No, effendi.

by Anonymousreply 13August 29, 2021 10:34 PM

Yeah they're usually hairy R11 but there have to be some smooth ones.

He'd be hot either way.

by Anonymousreply 14August 29, 2021 10:34 PM

I find him very good looking. It's hard for really hot men to be taken seriously. That and the deep, deep well of talent from the UK must make it a challenge.

by Anonymousreply 15August 29, 2021 10:35 PM

Though his Downtown Abbey moments were memorable, I don't think he looked his best then....he was all plucked and smoothed out. He was much hotter in Sanditon with some scruff and fewer clothes. He really should stay away from the period melodrama and do a hot cop show.

by Anonymousreply 16August 29, 2021 10:36 PM

He was about to make his West End debut in a revival of the musical CITY OF ANGELS when Covid hit. So I guess he can sing, too.

by Anonymousreply 17August 29, 2021 10:39 PM

Sanditon is finally in production on seasons two and three. Is he coming back? The long pause due to Covid and (revoked) cancelation caused some cast changes.

by Anonymousreply 18August 29, 2021 11:03 PM

Sanditon was absolute shite.

by Anonymousreply 19August 29, 2021 11:44 PM

He's rougher around the edges in Divergent.

by Anonymousreply 20August 29, 2021 11:55 PM

He’s cute but I prefer Douglas Booth with a puppy.

R18, James said he's not returning to the series.

by Anonymousreply 22August 30, 2021 12:36 AM

Sanditon was basically Jane Austin meets Seventeen magazine. Just a young girl's idea of romance in the 19th century without any real character development or plot other than following a teenager's fantasy life. Really dumb show.

He did. He was the lead in Golden Boy on CBS. It failed. He may not have enough charisma to get mainstream interest.

I don't agree. I thought it developed some interesting character arcs for a number of characters including the 2 leads. It was on its way to a complicated and hopefully creative ending when it was cancelled prematurely. Not sure how much you watched but there was definitely a plot - several plots actually.

Anyway ALL Jane Austen (not Austin) stories used romance to impart universal truths and life lessons. There is nothing childish about romance and love. No more so than using sci fi or horror or fantasy to impart same.

James is not a particularly good actor but he fit the character (though the director should have dialed him back in some scenes) and he played very well off his co-star. They had very good chemistry and she was very natural. It made him look good and better than his acting really was.

by Anonymousreply 25August 30, 2021 8:09 PM

I thought it was crap. It takes a lot for me to turn off something on PBS [italic]with[/with] crinolines, but that turkey did it.

by Anonymousreply 26August 30, 2021 8:12 PM

Damn, some good snark ruined by poor formatting skills. Well, there's a reason I'm not an admin.

"Well, there's a reason I'm not an admin."

Oh! An aspiring Muriel! I love it! We shall henceforth call you, "Miguel."

by Anonymousreply 28August 30, 2021 8:27 PM

He just got cast in the HBO Max adaptation of The Time Travelers Wife (Eric Bana played the role in the film). He’s hardly doing poorly career wise.

This is a horrible thing for me to say but his eyes are extremely close together and it bugs me somewhat when I watch him.

by Anonymousreply 29August 30, 2021 8:32 PM

The Time Traveler's Wife has now been cancelled by HBO.

If he's inhuman, well, "Take me to your leader!"

by Anonymousreply 31July 1, 2022 9:21 PM

He's the son of John James.

by Anonymousreply 32July 1, 2022 9:24 PM

Which one of you sultans is my father?

by Anonymousreply 33July 1, 2022 9:26 PM

he showed his dick last eppy.

i wondered where the story could go.

by Anonymousreply 34July 1, 2022 9:29 PM

^Do tell.

by Anonymousreply 35July 1, 2022 10:13 PM

Do watch.

by Anonymousreply 36July 1, 2022 10:17 PM

He is NOT the son of John James. Look it up.

by Anonymousreply 37July 2, 2022 12:56 AM

I thought it was implied that Mr. Pamuk fucked Lady Mary in the ass to prevent pregnancy.

by Anonymousreply 38July 2, 2022 2:23 AM

R30, good. That was some crap. Just awful.

by Anonymousreply 39July 2, 2022 8:49 AM

Any chance he'll be the next Bond?

by Anonymousreply 40January 7, 2024 2:37 PM

I thought he was Greek and British, unless I'm confusing him with another good looking actor.

by Anonymousreply 41January 7, 2024 4:18 PM

He's the NEPHEW of John James.

by Anonymousreply 42January 7, 2024 4:20 PM
I thought he was Greek and British, unless I'm confusing him with another good looking actor.

According to Wikipedia he is of Greek and Scottish descent. His full name is Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis.

by Anonymousreply 43January 7, 2024 5:09 PM

A lovely body, a mixed bag of a face, and a nonexistent stage presence, which is probably why his impact has been limited, and best suited to period dramas where he's little more than a coathanger.
