Gorgeous guy, I think. I'm surprised he's not discussed more on DL.
Theo James

Mr Pamuk -- he fucked himself to death!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 29, 2021 10:11 PM |
Poor Mr. Pamuk...
He failed to land a profitable franchise when he was at his buzziest.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 29, 2021 10:12 PM |
He is kind of weird looking -- sometimes he can look extremely handsome, other times he looks inhuman. Almost like a kid's drawing of a handsome man.
In the Brit tv show Sanditon, James proves he can't really act but he does prove that he wears clothes beautifully. So much so it makes you want to dress like the 19th century.

WHET Theo?

I can relate to this remark especially the latter part.

There have been numerous threads about him over the years as there have been about another DL fave, his Theo's Australian equivalent Brenton Thwaites. Another thread is not unwelcome though.

They should resurrect him as an incubus shagging us all in the new Downton Abbey flicker.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 29, 2021 10:25 PM |
Paradoxically, Lady Mary's death vagina was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Is there such a thing as a Turk with a smooth chest? Not that I've ever seen.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2021 10:31 PM |
Do you think Kate Winslet and him ever did the deed?

[quote] Is there such a thing as a Turk with a smooth chest?
No, effendi.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2021 10:34 PM |
Yeah they're usually hairy R11 but there have to be some smooth ones.
He'd be hot either way.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 29, 2021 10:34 PM |
I find him very good looking. It's hard for really hot men to be taken seriously. That and the deep, deep well of talent from the UK must make it a challenge.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 29, 2021 10:35 PM |
Though his Downtown Abbey moments were memorable, I don't think he looked his best then....he was all plucked and smoothed out. He was much hotter in Sanditon with some scruff and fewer clothes. He really should stay away from the period melodrama and do a hot cop show.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 29, 2021 10:36 PM |
He was about to make his West End debut in a revival of the musical CITY OF ANGELS when Covid hit. So I guess he can sing, too.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 29, 2021 10:39 PM |
Sanditon is finally in production on seasons two and three. Is he coming back? The long pause due to Covid and (revoked) cancelation caused some cast changes.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 29, 2021 11:03 PM |
Sanditon was absolute shite.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 29, 2021 11:44 PM |
He's rougher around the edges in Divergent.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 29, 2021 11:55 PM |
He’s cute but I prefer Douglas Booth with a puppy.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 30, 2021 12:19 AM |
R18, James said he's not returning to the series.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 30, 2021 12:36 AM |
Sanditon was basically Jane Austin meets Seventeen magazine. Just a young girl's idea of romance in the 19th century without any real character development or plot other than following a teenager's fantasy life. Really dumb show.

He did. He was the lead in Golden Boy on CBS. It failed. He may not have enough charisma to get mainstream interest.

I don't agree. I thought it developed some interesting character arcs for a number of characters including the 2 leads. It was on its way to a complicated and hopefully creative ending when it was cancelled prematurely. Not sure how much you watched but there was definitely a plot - several plots actually.
Anyway ALL Jane Austen (not Austin) stories used romance to impart universal truths and life lessons. There is nothing childish about romance and love. No more so than using sci fi or horror or fantasy to impart same.
James is not a particularly good actor but he fit the character (though the director should have dialed him back in some scenes) and he played very well off his co-star. They had very good chemistry and she was very natural. It made him look good and better than his acting really was.

I thought it was crap. It takes a lot for me to turn off something on PBS [italic]with[/with] crinolines, but that turkey did it.

He just got cast in the HBO Max adaptation of The Time Travelers Wife (Eric Bana played the role in the film). He’s hardly doing poorly career wise.
This is a horrible thing for me to say but his eyes are extremely close together and it bugs me somewhat when I watch him.

The Time Traveler's Wife has now been cancelled by HBO.

He's the NEPHEW of John James.

According to Wikipedia he is of Greek and Scottish descent. His full name is Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis.

A lovely body, a mixed bag of a face, and a nonexistent stage presence, which is probably why his impact has been limited, and best suited to period dramas where he's little more than a coathanger.
