Lionel Ritchie & The Commodores…

I almost forgot how Lionel was fine AF, back on the day.

Also, there’s no other male artist out there who put people on the mood like Lionel did, except for Marvin Gay.

Elders, did they wrap up a night at the club with a slow song from Lionel, like they used to when there were still Niteclubs?

Also, any hood or good gossip on this man? He pings as a bisexual to me.

Pings? He was a major pussyhound in his heyday. Cheated all the time on his first wife, who was also his manager from his pre-fame days, and eventually married one of his side pieces. They have also since divorced.

We ended the night with Last Dance from the Queen of Disco.

Lionel and Marvin Gaye?

No. That’s not Lionel’s rep. He was poppier with an odd country edge.

I always thought The Commodores (and Lionel’s solo) music was tepid and bland. And Lionel’s signature look was not one I ever found attractive. Not a fan.

It was tepid and bland but the yuppified condo & wine party crowd of the late 70s/early 80s ate it up., it was their personal soundtrack. He got tons of airplay, with and without the Commodores back then.
