Tasteful Friends: Kate Beckinsale’s “tasteful” Brentwood Home

It's nice that she was able to spin entire career out of the Underworld movies

Better location for the jacooze. That brownstone owned by Neil Patrick Niles has the hot tub only steps away from the marital bed. God only knows how brightly that thing would shine under a Dateline inspection light.

That ugly little shack is $4 million?! I’ve never understood why Brentwood is so expensive. It’s no Beverly Hills or Bel Air.

R3 Brentwood is "stealth wealth." The houses aren't as grand, but it's more tasteful than the tourist-targets in the Hills. It's where regular millionaires live, and people you'd actually want as neighbors. Pacific Palisades is another area with pricey yet understated homes, and also popular with people of similar substance.

Leaves me flat.

The bridge to the hot tub (which I like) reminds me of the widow's walk on the Malibu (filling in for San Francisco) house featured in "House Of Sand And Fog". This would be really special with even a distant ocean view (which is possible from some parts of Brentwood). I like it.

I like it, but the bathrooms need updating. Kate is gorgeous.

R7 She was the only redeemable part about "Pearl Harbor." Beautiful woman.

I think the only movie I've seen with her is Much Ado About Nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 26, 2021 2:56 AM |
I love it too. A lot.

It certainly hasn’t appreciated much since she bought it.
Has Brentwood suddenly become downmarket?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 26, 2021 3:10 AM |
It’s gross. Brentwood is also gross. I guess the outdoor shower looks nice?

Four million sounds incredibly low for Brentwood and that house.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 26, 2021 3:17 AM |
That place is twee
yuck

The supernatural adventure movies (Van Helsingborg and Underworld) are her bread and butter, but she was also in Pearl Harbor, The Aviator, Laurel Canyon and The Last Days of Disco.
She’s beautiful and she went to Oxford. Love her.

Brentwood is old-fashioned and overpriced.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 26, 2021 3:43 AM |
Four million for that house in LA/Brentwood is not overpriced
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 26, 2021 3:45 AM |
I don’t know why my phone decided to change “Helsing” into “Helsingborg” and I never will.

I thought all movie stars had pools?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 26, 2021 9:03 AM |
I like it, but there is no pool, so no away. Also, I do not like the blue dot tile. It seems like it would be annoying. Why not just white tile?

I think these Hollywood people are getting out of California before it dries up or burns down.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 26, 2021 9:19 AM |
For that kind of money I want a pool, not a silly hot tub with bridge access.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 26, 2021 9:19 AM |
I’d love it, but there’s something oppressive about the ceilings. In every photo, I was super aware of them pressing down on the room. It’s like the house is being pressed down into the earth or something.

it's a place you need to see in person.

The ladder to the upper bookcase is a disaster waiting to happen.

Celebs are leaving LA and NYC because both TV and film work is done all over the world now, so there’s no reason to feel forced to live in those cities anymore. If they do need to film in those cities, they can either stay in hotels or rent short term and then are free to leave afterwards.
