Honey Boo Boo, now 16, in Teen Vogue

I do feel sorry for her; a trainwreck of a mother and no friends.

by Anonymousreply 112September 3, 2021 2:00 PM

The "I do not care" attitude is like her mother's though. Genes are strong.

by Anonymousreply 1August 25, 2021 8:33 PM

She is a morbidly obese girl who will have immense health issues in the near future and needs help. It isn't "body shaming" to point that out.

by Anonymousreply 2August 25, 2021 8:35 PM

She will be pregnant soon and begin the cycle all over again.

by Anonymousreply 3August 25, 2021 8:35 PM

Talk about slapping lipstick on a pig 🐖

by Anonymousreply 4August 25, 2021 8:40 PM

What the hell happened to Vogue?

by Anonymousreply 5August 25, 2021 8:43 PM

The elegant days are over.

by Anonymousreply 6August 25, 2021 8:48 PM

I have heard the names Honey Boo Boo and Mama June but never watched the show or followed them in the news, this is just sad.
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was canceled in 2014, after news that Alana’s mother, June Shannon, dated a convicted child molester, whose victims allegedly included one of Alana’s sisters.
In 2018, Alana appeared on Dancing With the Stars: Juniors, and the year prior, a reality show following her mother’s physical transformation, Mama June: From Not to Hot, eventually rebranded as Mama June: Road to Redemption, on which Alana currently appears. In 2019, Alana’s mother was arrested on possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges, and Alana’s sister, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon, 21, was given legal guardianship over her.
At one point, the television show The Doctors even staged a “health intervention” for her, where a younger Alana shared that she liked nuggets to a chorus of laughter from the audience
Alana focuses more on how she feels about herself, in her own skin, than what commenters have to say. “Like, I know I'm beautiful, and I know I got a banging body, so...I don't care,” she says with a shrug. She thinks we need to be showing all different kinds of bodies, which is something she thinks pageants actually excel at.

It's interesting the way we keep taking steps backwards, instead of talking about diabetes and heart disease we talk about inclusivity, why are we regressing so much?

I thought Teen Vogue was shuttered several years ago. But I have no interest in it anyway. Especially if they're featuring this as content.

by Anonymousreply 9August 25, 2021 8:57 PM

Oh just leave her alone. Maybe she will get diabetes then she’ll change the food. She is still funny. “I know a have a bangin body.”

by Anonymousreply 10August 25, 2021 8:59 PM

Is that a nose ring or a mole she has?

by Anonymousreply 11August 25, 2021 9:00 PM

Wasn't teen vogue doing some pretty good political coverage?

by Anonymousreply 12August 25, 2021 9:27 PM

She never had a chance in life . She has an obese pedophile loving crack head for a mother who was more involved with toothless child fuckers than caring for her kids. They were fed junk food and had zero rules. I’m so sad for this girl. I wish Mama June would be set on fire with the pedophiles she put before her kids.

by Anonymousreply 13August 25, 2021 9:43 PM

Her mother is a pedophile?

by Anonymousreply 14August 25, 2021 9:53 PM

I think she’s sweet . It’s really sad she had that mother.

by Anonymousreply 15August 25, 2021 9:54 PM

No, R14, pedophile-loving. I.e. the man her mother 'loved' was a pedophile.

by Anonymousreply 16August 25, 2021 9:55 PM

Teen Vogue stopped printing issues and is a shell of its former self as a online website. Their focus is wokeness, a teen Vanity Fair.

by Anonymousreply 17August 25, 2021 10:03 PM

Sorry, R16. My eye caught the pedo thing and missed the "loving" part

by Anonymousreply 18August 25, 2021 10:06 PM

She would look like Bijou Phillips if she was thin.

by Anonymousreply 19August 25, 2021 10:12 PM

They are all grifters. Last year Alana and her sister Lauren stopped paying rent and got evicted. They each are worth over half million, yet refused to pay $1200/month in rent. They have also been sued by hotels for nonpayment.

by Anonymousreply 20August 25, 2021 10:13 PM

This could have been fixed years ago.

by Anonymousreply 21August 25, 2021 10:21 PM

They look lovely.

by Anonymousreply 22August 25, 2021 10:27 PM

No, R19.

She'd look like Kate Smith's skeleton if she were thin.

by Anonymousreply 23August 25, 2021 10:29 PM

Why is she still flat chested while so heavy? It looks odd

by Anonymousreply 24August 25, 2021 10:42 PM

She’s pretty.

by Anonymousreply 25August 25, 2021 10:49 PM

What a whale.

by Anonymousreply 26August 25, 2021 10:49 PM

At least GQ has maintained its standards.

by Anonymousreply 27August 25, 2021 10:50 PM

For some reason she's always touched my jaded, cold black heart. I hope she goes to college and becomes a nurse or anything else she wants to be and has a wonderful life.

by Anonymousreply 28August 25, 2021 10:59 PM

I don't know how to quote.

Oh well. I'm sorry and mean no harm.

Quote "Before becoming a nurse, she wants to graduate high school and college. She wants to move out when she turns 18 and purchase a house, and before that, a car. She thinks she’ll keep working while in college, because she’s already thinking about student debt." End Quote

Hopefully she'll fulfill her goals. Poor thing.

by Anonymousreply 29August 25, 2021 11:12 PM
I don't know how to quote.

r29, it's easy

Put [ quote ] before whatever you want to quote. Just put the brackets next to the word quote. I spaced it out so you can see what it looks like, so it should look like this:

by Anonymousreply 30August 25, 2021 11:18 PM

[ quote ] I don't know how to quote.

But again, have the brackets next to the word quote, not space dout

by Anonymousreply 31August 25, 2021 11:19 PM

spaced*

by Anonymousreply 32August 25, 2021 11:19 PM

This will end badly. Like finding this girl's body in a dumpster badly.

by Anonymousreply 33August 25, 2021 11:21 PM

My dog is farting like a mofo tonight. It smells horrible

by Anonymousreply 34August 25, 2021 11:24 PM
Honey Boo Boo, now 16, in Teen Vogue

I take this to be a sign of the Apocalypse.

by Anonymousreply 35August 25, 2021 11:25 PM

Oh, to be 16 again!

by Anonymousreply 36August 25, 2021 11:29 PM

She seems sweet. I wish I could adopt her

by Anonymousreply 37August 25, 2021 11:31 PM

With that pig of a mother she never had a chance. I wish I could get her out of there, into therapy, and eating a healthy diet. Sadly, she’s fucked.

by Anonymousreply 42August 25, 2021 11:53 PM

Not one smile in any of those new photos. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 43August 25, 2021 11:54 PM

When was the last time someone checked her blood sugar? And given her mother's penchant for child molesters, isn't it time to inquire whether her obesity is in reaction to severe abuse. The percentage of morbidly obese women who have been sexually abused is very high. Fat shaming sucks, but does that mean we are supposed to ignore the obvious? Not that Vogue has ever been a promotor of women's health, but now they're adding this to their endorsement of anorexia and bulimia.

by Anonymousreply 44August 25, 2021 11:55 PM

It’s just a matter of time before her glorious return to showbiz as the star of [italic]My 600-Pound Life[/italic].
She'd look like Kate Smith's skeleton if she were thin.

At least Kate Smith could sing.

by Anonymousreply 45August 25, 2021 11:55 PM

“When my mama got real bad with her [drug use], I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come.”

Give her a chance.

by Anonymousreply 46August 26, 2021 12:08 AM

This makes me incredibly sad. I never watched that show but she's 16 and has been exploited and humiliated her entire life. She is 16 -- that is far too young to be thought of as being in the driver's seat for any of the shit she's been through. I hope somebody is taking care of her, that she has love around her, that she manages to get the fuck out of that place and be her best person. We should be gathering this girl up and making her feel good -- in general the gay community knows better than anybody what being trapped in a bad situation at home is like. She just needs good positive influences.

by Anonymousreply 47August 26, 2021 12:16 AM

Yeah, I don’t think she should be judged so harshly. I hope she’s able to get an education in something in order to break the cycle. She’s always seemed very smart and aware for her age.

by Anonymousreply 48August 26, 2021 12:18 AM

She'll be on My 600-lb Life in a couple of years.

by Anonymousreply 49August 26, 2021 12:21 AM
She’s always seemed very smart and aware for her age.

And very pro-gay, even as a little kid. Loved her "Uncle Poodle."

by Anonymousreply 50August 26, 2021 12:52 AM

What's hot Uncle Poodle up to?

by Anonymousreply 51August 26, 2021 1:01 AM

Why didn't they cast her in Funny Girl?

by Anonymousreply 52August 26, 2021 1:18 AM

I think she has a healthy attitude. "Just because I have more meat on my bones why do people feel the need to hate me?" she said.

by Anonymousreply 57August 26, 2021 2:16 AM

I feel sorry for her as well, but I don't understand why her and her family's 15 minutes isn't up. She isn't an actress, singer, social activist or anything else worthy of a profile in a glossy magazine. Why not just let her finish growing up in peace out of the spotlight?

by Anonymousreply 58August 26, 2021 2:17 AM

How did this revolting child and her even more revolting mother get to be "stars" on a tv show? Why would people want to even look at them? Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 59August 26, 2021 2:18 AM

Because the family is a spectacle/trainwreck.

by Anonymousreply 60August 26, 2021 2:23 AM
Hopefully she'll fulfill her goals. Poor thing.

Unlikely. Saying: ‘I want to be a nurse,’ is about as relevant as saying: ‘I want to be an astronaut!’ Does she know what classes she’ll need? What schools to apply to? Does she know how to study? HAS she ever studied? Does she read on her own? If not, reading textbooks for class will be a chore (it can be challenging for those of us who DO read!)

I don’t say this to trash her, or her dreams. I agree with those who say she’s been victimized by a poor upbringing, but she’s unlikely to suddenly develop the many skills needed for success, including just the discipline to attend boring classes.

by Anonymousreply 61August 26, 2021 2:51 AM

She needs to cut the carbs. No wonder so many white Southerners are morbidly obese. So much Southern food is basically carbs fried in Crisco.

by Anonymousreply 62August 26, 2021 3:12 AM

That she blows!

by Anonymousreply 63August 26, 2021 3:13 AM
So much Southern food is basically carbs fried in Crisco.

Obviously you never saw the episode where Mama June and Alana made the family favorite "sketti."

- Boil spaghetti.

- Microwave giant tub of margarine with ketchup squirted on top.

- Pour hot butter-ketchup mixture over noodles.

- Eat.

I don't feel sorry for her. She seems awful. Of course she would be, with that family. Perhaps it's not all her fault that she turned out the way she is but the fact is that she's white trash and probably always will be.

by Anonymousreply 69August 26, 2021 4:45 AM

What a pit this place is.

by Anonymousreply 70August 26, 2021 4:51 AM

Good Lord, I never watched the show but was curious about this "sketti" you mentioned and they had video of her making that along with the first horrifying recipe. Some concoction of meat, boxed mashed taters, shredded cheese and corn.

Those look like clown clothes, somebody is trolling her

by Anonymousreply 77August 26, 2021 8:37 AM

Hopefully by saying she wants to be a nurse she is finally realizing she is not going to be a star. People who keep telling her how beautiful and talented she is are not doing her any favors. I'm not saying they have to denigrate her, but be realistic.

by Anonymousreply 78August 26, 2021 8:42 AM

On the last show I watched - maybe she was 13 or so and living with her older sister - she was amazingly mature. Like a 23 year old in a 13 year old body. Perhaps the result of dealing with hard life realities at a young age. Children of alcoholics and drug addicts often become super responsible anti-addicts. But also a chance they succumb to the same addictive lifestyle. She could go either way.

by Anonymousreply 79August 26, 2021 8:44 AM

I can see her getting pregnant young, especially since babies get so much attention from June.

by Anonymousreply 80August 26, 2021 8:45 AM

Sad, but kind of not surprising; it's only a matter of time before some guy gives her even a small amount of attention & she'll be knocked up, on her way to Mama June 2.0.

Whatever network aired that show should announce that they are putting some $$ into a college fund for her since they've continually made $$ off of her trainwreck family

by Anonymousreply 81August 26, 2021 8:51 AM

June became a mom at 15 and a grandma at 30. Of her 3 adult daughters, 2 got knocked up in high school. The other is in college.

And lookie, June has a new sugar baby.

by Anonymousreply 86August 26, 2021 10:48 AM

June burning through her kids money again.

by Anonymousreply 87August 26, 2021 1:47 PM

The sad thing is that so much of this behavior is intergenerational: I'll be June was molested & pimped out by her mother at an early age, given her incredibly low self-esteem & poor choice in men. She probably has no idea how to be any other kind of mother (that & she's an addict). I have no problem with "body positive" messages, but I think if Teen Vogue was really interested in HBB in something other than a side show, they'd get her physical & psychological help to get a grip and deal with her very *large* issues

by Anonymousreply 88August 26, 2021 1:57 PM
Great idea for "Lets be Honey Boo Boo : The Movie " thread.

Beanie Feldstein *IS* Pumpkin!

Pumpkin is a very important role because she plays the "greek chorus" of the Boo Boo family and then later, inexplicably gets pregnant by some local redneck since everyone - even dimwitted Sugar Bear, had her pegged as a lesbian

Side note: I think Dax Shepard would make a great Sugar Bear

by Anonymousreply 91August 26, 2021 3:57 PM

R90. MTG as hot Mama June. An acting career would get her out of Congress.

by Anonymousreply 92August 26, 2021 4:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 93August 26, 2021 4:39 PM

"I think Dax Shepard would make a great Sugar Bear."

But Dax, unlike Sugar Bear, has a complete set of teefs.

by Anonymousreply 94August 26, 2021 4:41 PM

The regulations around child actors are much better these days. All of June's children that were on the reality shows have trusts and I have read that they each have roughly $500,000 in the trusts.

by Anonymousreply 95August 26, 2021 7:25 PM

Mama June started Honey Boo Boo out in reality TV as a toddler beauty pageant contestant in Toddlers & Tiaras. Honey Boo Boo was cute back then and had a smart mouth. Her mother was a horror. That made them reality TV stars which they've been milking ever since. When Honey Boo Boo got too big and fat for beauty pageants they graduated to reality shows that focused on horrific Mama June and her whole white trash extended family doing basically nothing. They created the usual bogus reality TV conflict by having family members enact feuds with each other. It's the only life that Honey Boo Boo knows. Doubt she'll ever do anything else until reality TV finally rejects her.

by Anonymousreply 96August 26, 2021 8:05 PM

^Wad Mama June the one who had hundreds of rolls of paper towels, or was that another reality tv look?

by Anonymousreply 97August 27, 2021 12:32 AM

Mama June indeed was an extreme couponer and actually seemed somewhat level-headed during season 1 of Honey Boo Boo. That went downhill quickly

I will admit I have turned the show on sometime on Friday nights, it's good for a laugh on a Friday night when I am with bf and we are relaxing for the weekend. Honey Boo Boo has a huge appetite, on one show they showed her eating all day and then she went out for supper and ate an appetizer plus a huge meal with 3 sides. She is going to have a tough time controling her weight especially since that is how June shows her love by buying her a bunch of junk food.

by Anonymousreply 103August 28, 2021 9:00 AM

And the Oscar goes to.....Alana Thompson!

by Anonymousreply 104August 28, 2021 1:03 PM

Can TeenVogue not afford real photographers? Those photos are embarrassingly amateurish. Jesus god.

by Anonymousreply 105August 28, 2021 1:15 PM

What real photographer would want to be a part of the circus?

by Anonymousreply 106August 28, 2021 5:51 PM

Sadly she wants to graduate , go to college and be a nurse (noble profession) yet the WELFARE GRIFTER gene is too strong to let that happen. Her piece of trash mother positioned her to be in the spotlight so she sees the ease being a reality shit show ‘star’ is along with the money, it makes people have no need to work hard. Her lineage isn’t about working hard, it’s using the system. They’re the ultimate grifters OBESE and useless. I feel sad for the kids, they never had a chance in hell with a Pedophile Loving Crack Head Fame Chaser Mother. Imagine you’re in the ER looking at the nurse who is ready to give you an IV and it’s ‘Honey Boo Boo’. Unless she gets a nutritionist to drop the weight healthily, understand how healthy eating and exercise works and changes her god awful trailer trash name, she won’t be able to be anything BUT reality shit since no one will take her seriously and it’s all down to her obese cunt mother’s need for fame.

by Anonymousreply 107September 3, 2021 12:12 PM

by Anonymousreply 109September 3, 2021 12:43 PM

Why do you read the New York Post, OP?

by Anonymousreply 110September 3, 2021 12:44 PM

Poor girl. I remember the mom giving her (as a toddler) multiple redbulls (on top of a shit diet) to pep her up for performances. I'm sure mom found a way to access the money she made.

I know there's people that criticize body positivity and fat shaming because supposedly it's promoting obesity, but IMO that's a crock of shit. It's not like the extreme thinness of the 90s, where young people wanted to emulate a popular body type. No one is looking at overweight people and aspiring to be like them.

Obesity is on the rise across the globe, with or without fat shaming. It's not like being kinder to heavier people is at the root of the problem. It's nothing like way anorexia became popular. It's happening across cultures and countries now, without having to be promoted.

Not treating people like shit for how they look should be the way it is.

by Anonymousreply 111September 3, 2021 1:49 PM

I mean really, how can one believe a photo shoot of someone like Honey Boo Boo is what's responsible for rising obesity rates? Or that this is all occurring from a lack of telling overweight people that they're overweight?

I can't recommend this documentary enough. It's an eye opener with the way corporate food companies are operating, targeting young children. Companies like Coca cola arranging huge school activities (giving away tons of soda to kids) and McDonalds sending Ronald McDonald to the classrooms of very young children.

Want to bring back shaming? Go after these greedy scumbags.
