Society views her dumping of the adopted kids differently than they would if the kids were biological. If Katie had done that to Suri and blamed " brainwashing" no one would ever forgive or forget it. Kidman could have got at least partial custody if she desired. Because of course they didn't do any of the things you said: they tried repeatedly to produce biological offspring so Tom could prove his manliness (now he has to do it by performing his own stunts), then when Nic kept miscarrying even with donor sperm, they finally adopted.

My mom always said that having two kids to manage was hard but once you’ve had 3 you can manage 12 with no problem. I never understood that but several moms have confirmed this is true. I was number 2 among 3 siblings btw. I suspect it meant that sharing the love you feel for your first born with your second is very difficult. But after that, you divorce yourself emotionally and provide food and water and don’t sweat guilt over love fairness.
