Britney has serious mental problems (I think) but there are tons of people with serious mental problems who we don’t force into conservatorships. This only happened to her because she’s sitting on a pile of riches and her family doesn’t want to see it go to “waste.” If she gets out of the conservatorship, she’s going to be spending her money like MC Hammer and marrying people like Liz Taylor, but it should be her life to lead.

The court could also let her hire her own separate attorney specifically for financial matters to work with the money managers as needed...all of whom would have fiduciary obligations to all act in Britney Spears' best interests as well as direct accountability to the court for the duration of a conservatorship over her financial affairs. This can all be done without any of the trailer park grifters in her family involved in any of her affairs.

But there is no reason -- NONE -- to leave Britney Spears under a personal conservatorship any longer that requires her to endure such humiliations as having an IUD inside her body that she doesn't want, permission from her guardian to go to fucking Starbucks, mandates from her father to do a four-year Vegas residency, and so on. If she wants to post topless titty photos to Instagram at this point in her life, that's her business (and Instagram's). As others upthread have said, there are plenty of everyday people with far worse mental health issues than Britney Spears, and they aren't subjected to conservatorships or deemed wards of the state. Just walk down any street in downtown LA or SF, you'll see plenty worse off mentally than Britney Spears.

The housekeeper took the dogs to the vet after one of them had thrown up. It sounds like it was the vet who noticed signs of neglect and raised concerns about Britney's home not being a safe environment for the dogs. I wonder what those signs were.

Don't people own pets because they ENJOY caring for and spending time with them? The housekeeper noticed something was off and took the dogs to the vet, which is probably more than she is paid for. Only after that vet visit, either she or Jamie called the dogsitter and asked her to take the dogs away. This implies that the dogsitter isn't there all the time, just when Britney is working or traveling, which doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

My friend has 8 children, the drs would admit her two weeks before birth so she could be titrated down then back up on her psych cocktail. Every one of her children are in therapy and on psych meds. She's the living personification of fucked, Brittney may not see it for awhile but keeping her from having more kids was one of the few good things to come of the conservatorship. Pregnancy in itself is INCREDIBLY destabilizing, and cooking with bad eggs just isn't a good idea.

If you have ever had someone close to you suffer from bipolar 1, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder you would be able to see the clear signs she is off her meds and a danger to herself and others. I love Britney and wish her well but she is severely ill. I had an ex boyfriend who’s bipolar 1 manifested after we broke up. We stayed very close friends for 20 years and each time he went off his meds it was disastrous. It was sad & frustrating watching him spiral out and then have him shut his friends and family out when we tried to help him. His delusions and paranoia had him accusing us of everything under the sun. He would hit rock bottom after reckless and dangerous manic sprees and then attempt suicide. Then back on his meds, rinse repeat. For years. This summer he succeeded in ending his life. The day after mental health facility he tried to check himself into (after another manic depressive cycle off his meds) told him he was fine enough to leave. If Britney didn’t want to record songs or tour she absolutely shouldn’t have been forced- if that were indeed the case. She should be free to live her life and be happy but she needs a conservatorship.
