WHORES MOURN: OnlyFans Is Getting Out Of The Porn Business
by Anonymous | reply 525 | August 30, 2021 3:38 AM |
WHAT?! LOL
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 19, 2021 6:09 PM |
What will I do?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 19, 2021 6:09 PM |
So they're taking the Tumblr business path to self-immolation? Cool.
Do they think people are gonna pay $25 per month for kitten videos?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 19, 2021 6:10 PM |
Well, it's back to the perfume counter for me, then!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 19, 2021 6:10 PM |
But that is their only business ? Do they want to commit suicide a la Tumblr?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 19, 2021 6:10 PM |
What a stupid business decision on their part, but I understand that the owners are religious and or conservative. Something else will quickly take its place.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 19, 2021 6:10 PM |
They do realize they'll be exterminating themselves, right?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 19, 2021 6:11 PM |
What on earth will all the D List Bravo and TLC celebrities do for extra spending money?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 19, 2021 6:12 PM |
Thank fucking CHRIST!
I'm sick of every faggot from here to Grindr linking to their OF, and telling guys they should subscribe if they want to see a dick pic or munch on that hole. Too many of these pricks think they're porn stars, when really, they're just coin-grubbing trash.
Three bucks a month to see your dick doesn't make you a "content creator" or a sex worker. It just makes you a cheap bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 19, 2021 6:12 PM |
Who will have “an” Onlyfans then?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 19, 2021 6:13 PM |
WTF?😒
That's like Chinese restaurants saying they're going to stop serving fried rice.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 19, 2021 6:13 PM |
r6 I read an interview with the owner about six months ago and I did not get the impression he was religious?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 19, 2021 6:15 PM |
The article says they are getting out of the porn business but still allowed to post nude photos and videos within guidelines?
Too light on details to make sense.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 19, 2021 6:18 PM |
There's already one alternative out there called justforfans. I'm sure more will be popping up soon.
But I don't feel sorry for the most of the people who have accounts there. Many are scammers, who put only junk up for the people who pay the monthly subscription fee and everything else under often way overpriced PPV postings.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 19, 2021 6:20 PM |
R2 Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 19, 2021 6:21 PM |
R13 The fuck does that statement mean? Minus porns and people will shortly be migrating off their site.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 19, 2021 6:22 PM |
If more of you old queens had husbands to torture, you wouldn't be so goddamned thirsty over straight celebrities and trade on OF who show their balls for five dollars.
Good GOD, you people are hard-up. I've known prisoners who whack it to the women of QVC, but this is somehow worse.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 19, 2021 6:24 PM |
Not to be confused with the "Dark Web", but Onlyfans has used many "dark patterns design principles" over the past several years. It's the modern day equivalent of fine print and it's unethical.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 19, 2021 6:28 PM |
Are you fucking kidding me? Did that prick Nicholas Kristoff write another anti-porn article?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 19, 2021 6:28 PM |
r17 It's an oxymoron. Makes no sense. I wonder what the alternatives now are for sex workers or if they will go back to revitalised porn studios?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 19, 2021 6:32 PM |
That's like Chinese restaurants saying they're going to stop serving fried rice.

Craigslist, Xtube, now OnlyFans.

by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 19, 2021 6:43 PM |
To be fair, I only know of OnlyFans from Datalounge and Instagram ho's promoting it. Is it possible there's a whole other side to OnlyFans we're unaware of? Like maybe they have a bunch of frau chefs on it or stuff like that?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 19, 2021 6:43 PM |
Fucking Republican conservatives strike again!
We would not EVER want to trigger their delicate sensibilities with something like naked men having sex! Soon we'll have to undergo gay "conversion" brainwashing.
Republicans passed the law banning craigslist ads and allowing any Christian busybody to sue the platform. What a menace to the world the GOP is!!!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 19, 2021 6:43 PM |
It's basically our DL site without those loving little homophobes, transphobes, xenophobes, misogynists, trumpists, oh CHRIST, you name it.

OnlyFans plans to block its users from posting pornographic content on its site.
The company said on Thursday that it will implement the new policy in October, Bloomberg first reported.
"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and the continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines," the company said, per Bloomberg.
The company will still allow users to post nude photos and videos, so long as they do not violate OnlyFans' policies, Bloomberg reported. Insider reached out for clarification regarding the company's new policy for nude photos and videos, but did not receive a response in time for publication.
The decision to ban sexually explicit content reflects a major branding change for the site that has gained much of its success from pornographic content. To date, the site hosts over 130 million users and has paid creators over $3 billion since it was created in 2016.
The decision could impact over 1 million creators, according to the company's website. It's unknown how many creators make money solely on explicit content. The site has long been known as a source of income for sex workers, especially during the pandemic when many had to pivot from in-person roles.
OnlyFans has faced difficulty in recent months drumming up investor interest, according to a recent report from Axios. The decision to eliminate sexually explicit content could help the platform lure in investors that may be wary of the site's NSFW brand.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 19, 2021 6:46 PM |
People don’t realize OnlyFans was never built for porn. Porn stars turned it into that and then everyday folk followed when they saw if they build a following they can start making money off it.
It was a site created for celebs, athletes etc. to post more personal content for their fans for a subscription price as well as corporations to push shit etc.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 19, 2021 6:47 PM |
How will the coomers coom now?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 19, 2021 6:48 PM |
In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform
Good luck with that.
Nobody is going to visit their stupid site just to look at nude photos.
People want what people want.
The whole reason for their popularity WAS the "explicit" content.
These companies are so fucking stupid.

R30 is positing from the 1950's if he thinks this is coming from the right.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 19, 2021 6:50 PM |
R29 no. There are like one or two minor celebrities who post non-sexual and nudity free videos. That's it.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 19, 2021 6:50 PM |
Onlyfans will now be Family Friendly
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 19, 2021 6:52 PM |
They will still allow nudity, just no more hardcore porn aka penetration
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 19, 2021 6:54 PM |
So many gay men are porn addicts.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 19, 2021 6:54 PM |
Blocking porn killed Tumblr. This is so dumb, going to kill off their business.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 19, 2021 6:54 PM |
Wow. OnlyFans is going to crash and burn. The site's image branding is hosting hardcore content created by account holders. To go away from that now is not going to draw more respectable content creators or investors to the platform, because it has a very distinct porn image branding that doesn't go away the moment they prohibit porn. And it looks like it's already struggling financially if they are so eager to attract new investors.
This didn't work out well for Tumblr and it won't work out well for OnlyFans.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 19, 2021 6:55 PM |
They will still allow nudity, just no more hardcore porn aka penetration
The only reason people went to that stupid site was for the "hardcore porn aka penetration."
Dumb. Dumber. Dumbest.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 19, 2021 6:56 PM |
Porn is no longer profitable, everyone is getting out of the business.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 19, 2021 6:56 PM |
I'm sure the poorly done record keeping by some of the content providers probably isn't helping this. You know some of those random hook-up vids and orgies posted don't have all of the model releases and valid IDs requiered for porn.
And some of these people are mentally ill. There was the one female porn star that posted a video of her getting a fucked by a guy and her young child walked into the room and they just continued fucking and posted the video anyway. She took a long of blowback (rightfully) on twitter when she posted a preview clip.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 19, 2021 6:56 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 19, 2021 6:58 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 19, 2021 6:58 PM |
R50 it’s obviously not, if they’re getting out of the porn business.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 19, 2021 6:58 PM |

There is theories and speculation floating about online that because in some major Western economies like the UK and USA there are huge labour shortages, lots of job vacancies but few taking them that has created concerns for the long term. The theory is that a deluge of people bragging about how they make much more on Onlyfans rather than in regular work is a small part of the issue but is having a corrosive effect on getting back to business as usual. It potentially could affect economic growth and is concerning government's and banks .Not as a sole cause but a significant factor. I am not sure how much stock to put in it but given the number of people who have joined Onlyfans there could be some element or modicum of truth in it.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 19, 2021 7:07 PM |
r36 is posting from the Fake News, Trump-style gaslighting chamber up his own ass where dozens of right wings grow.
Almost all banks have always forbidden processing porn or sexual transactions. That is a result of social conservatism and Republican Party political pressure since BEFORE the 1950s. Banks continue the policy so they don't upset Christians, Muslims, churches, Republican politicians and they have a legitimate interest in not wanting to facilitate sex slaves and child sexual transactions that Republican outliers like Milo Yiannopolous support.
Republicans passed the law banning craigslist ads and allowing any Christian busybody to sue the platform. So the GOP is still a socially conservative tyrant full of evangelical and Mormon busybodies trying to ban abortions, gays and porn.
Don't let r36 gaslight you. Republicans are a party to this and mostly opposed to gays, culture and sexual freedom.
Here's the Republican SJW who led her Republican Congress to kill craigslist:

by Anonymous | reply 73 | August 19, 2021 7:15 PM |
This is just OF trying to be legit. JFF and 4MF were created expressly for adult content, so they are theoretically less likely to bow to pressure to remove adult content from their platforms.

Us eldergays know that process all too well. Turning some rundown block into a flourishing gayborhood and then getting priced out by rich straight people moving on to the next run down neighborhood that needs the gay (or queer) touch.
Just like in real life, things come and go. There will be a new site, a new platform for porn. You will never make free porn go away for good in this internet age. It just shifts IP addresses.

There is definitely a right-wing agenda of Fake News that r111 embraces unconditionally in the vain and deranged belief that he, too, will someday get to enjoy the kind of slave and peasant labor that Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch, Mitch McConnell, George Bush, Mitt Romney and Lord Anthony Bamford enjoy.
LABOR SHORTAGES ARE A HOAX MANUFACTURED BY GREEDY CONSERVATIVE POLITICIANS AND NOTHING MORE.
It's high-time that capital management offered better wages and benefits if they want employees instead of FLEECING THEM DRY like they've done for the last 50 years.
r111 just doesn't want to pay for stimulus or unemployment. r111 thinks he's immune to the equilibrium that capitalism and free markets require.

Large tragedies in the history of DL:
Craigslist personals - dead Tumblr porn - dead Pornhub - mostly dead OnlyFans - on life support, dead soon
There's still xhamster. It's better than Pornhub anyway.

Why are these people referring to themselves as sex workers. Sex workers generally by and large don't have any say over who they fuck, these people do not have to worry about some creep murdering them at an hourly rate hotel.

r117 You are being dumb because I am not American and won't be paying for your stimulus regardless.
It has been reported by centrist news outlets too like the financial Times that there are plenty of job vacancies, plenty of available workers but a great reluctance by many to become economically active and join the Labour Market. Hence the term Labour shortage. Why people are not rejoining the Labour Market in expected numbers is an interesting question.

r129 I am not a tory and you are the dumbf*** if you think I as a British taxpayer are paying for the US stimulus? Seriously learn to comprehend what you are reading. I of course will likely pay tax increases to pay off the UK covid debt but thats got nothing to do with what I said or what I replied too. I was accused of not wanting to pay for the US stimulus bill.. which is a bit of a silly accusation to make at a non American.
I have said NOWHERE that I agree or feel comfortable with Onlyfans rationale or the alleged concerns of businesses about Onlyfans contributing towards a labour shortage. I have DESCRIBED the state of play and the motives involved. I haven't given my opinion on what is the best way forward. I am merely analysing the phenomenon playing even less than a devils advocate role. But you are too busy making aggressive assumptions to stop to consider that you know little of what I actually believe and support. Never voted for a Conservative government in my life.

Say goodbye to “anon” content of guys taking loads, gloryhole, guys from Grindr and such. That is against the rules.
Most of the gay OnlyFans has starting to post the same content anyways. You can’t go bigger than a 10-20 man orgy and as such now all they are left with are posting foursomes and orgies but those are always boring videos because there is too much going on to experience it on the screen.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | August 19, 2021 8:48 PM |

Honestly, I can't wait for that fucking shithole of a website to go down. So fucking user-friendly. Only ONE payment option. NO browse function. A pretty much unusable search function that you have to PAY for. And I heard both customers and performers are being ripped off by OF.
I hope the hot whores all move to more user-friendly sites like JustforFans ... although my favorite whore is probably dead, so I won't see him there. Anyway, OF stinks and deserves to die a painful, not so slow death.

His account is expensive and most of his followers are men, but in 3 years he keeps promising hotter content that never materializes. One time he claimed he was getting fucked by a friend and was talking about having a dick in him....but it was 100% obvious he was getting fucked by a woman wearing a strap-on. It was not hot.

There are plenty of people on OF who don’t “need” to be. Off the top of my head I can think of a lawyer, engineer, med student, those hot Jewish daddies who do something lucrative. A lot of the OFers just like showing off. They might move over to JFF or just count the time as an interesting experiment.

by Anonymous | reply 198 | August 20, 2021 12:59 AM |
Onlyfans is user created content, unless they find a way to verify age and consent like commercial porn does, it’s going to fail. Most of the content from pornhub and tumblr was pirated and in the case of pornhub they put up competitors content and wouldn’t take it down because they knew it would hurt/cheapen their business.
by Anonymous | reply 199 | August 20, 2021 1:08 AM |
Tumblr’s main reason for taking porn off was that minors were uploading videos.

This is just how its going to be now in the digital age. Once the people who own these sites earn more money than God, they become politically correct all of a sudden. Then everyone has to migrate to the next platform. Twitter is hanging in there but will only last so long...

r206, I perform on Chaturbate. They do require age verification for performers. You have to submit valid ID with your IRL face. Their rules are very similar to the original ones posted on here for Only Fans. No illegal age play, not even as a fantasy or play, no incest play, no urine, shit, or blood, no one can appear or even be audible in your room unless they have been age verified through their system, among a few other rules.
I'm completely fine with all of those rules. I don't need to do any of that to do what I do.
I am however, following the new rules to be coming from Only Fans closely.
by Anonymous | reply 219 | August 20, 2021 2:05 AM |
Chaturbate is strict about age verification because 10+ years ago those types of sites didn’t require it and young teens were going on and jerking off on camera.

Also, most people on OnlyFans didn't make much money, the median was $180/month. If anything, it was like an MLM scheme where people saw some raking in the money and thought they could do the same.

You people concerning yourself with these wannabe pornstars mulcting the OF platform and making a shit ton more $$$ than you and actual performers who have actually stuck things in their orifices is a trip, like they would so much as even consider giving you losers the time of day….Unless it was to poke you hard in the face with a stick nonstop until you presented a wallet because it’s all “fuck you, pay me” mentality with them. It’s sad how easily controlled people are by their basest instincts. Have fun being a paypig for a superficially fulfilling fap sesh.

1) This isn't going to make a bunch of sex workers suddenly homeless; there are other alternatives as already stated in this thread such as justfor.fans, fancentro, and others with those two being the biggest alternatives. Pornhub also has its own version, but much like Pornhub's website, they have invested practically nothing in its development and I think they pay MAYBE once a month, with up to a month delay.
2) The anti-porn crusaders have been, for a decade now, using the guise of eliminating "sex trafficking" to get politicians on both sides of the aisle on their side. But to be clear, the primary impetus is from the right wing religious zealots, followed by the left wingers who are heavy into performative virtue. "Sex trafficking" happens to be the perfect guise to get BOTH sides of the aisle involved, as left wingers and the whole "believe women" caucus leap on it as an easy win.
3) OnlyFans is "based in the UK" but the original British owner sold it in 2018 to some shady Ukranian/Russians who were already running similar sites. There's countless stories from both their previous sites and now OnlyFans about performers not getting paid, having access to funds cut off, being unable to reach a human or get any sort of response from the OF administrative Ivory tower.
4) As stated before, OF was not originally designed for porn. They even banned porn in their unenforced terms of service for the longest while, until someone pointed it out and they quietly changed it to allow porn. I think the use of it for porn may have vastly increased when it was sold to the Ukranian/Russians.
5) The anti-porn crusaders, again under the "sex trafficking" guise (and also the child p*rn guise) have been lobbying Visa and Mastercard for awhile now to change its rules as to what their platforms can be used for. They were heavily quoted in the NYT article that prompted V&M to block Pornhub from using their networks, which resulted in Pornhub (Mindgeek) booting massive amounts of porn off their many sites and then shutting down XTube.
6) Smelling blood in the water, the crusaders then got Visa and MC to change their rules for porn producers and made them a lot more restrictive. This happened in April. OF and the other Fans sites began requiring performers to have signed 2257 forms verifying model ids (two forms of id!) and signed model statements. This caused a lot of homemade porn to be removed from OnlyFans earlier this year. Basically the deal was OF COULD ask for these releases at any time, but I don't know if they ever actually did. The performers has to attest that they had these signed releases.
These new rules also stated that any uploaded porn had to be reviewed PRIOR to being shown, and livestreams had to be approved during. That is a lot of work for a site to do, since performers could no longer upload clips without having a delay before they were posted as everything now had to be manually approved.
7) Mindgeek/Pornhub - They have been lazy for a decade. They haven't invested much in their platforms, the backend is shit for models and for users, and they got blindsided, resting on their success. They had pushed off attempts to get them to police their network better for years, always said they were but didn't really do much that was visible. Is it possible they could have avoided that big takedown? Who knows.
8) Did I mention OF was shady as fuck? They haven't updated their terms of service yet so no one knows exactly what the new rules will be. I can guess, though, based on what they have said this far, is that they are allowing nudity in both videos and photos but no sexual contact or interaction. This is similar to how Patreon runs - Patreon allows nudity and fetish under the guise of "art" but does not allow any sexual touching or performance. So you can be nude, possibly even visibly aroused, but you can't touch it or do anything with it. And even then it's a bit of a gray area since what consists of porn is rather nebulous.
1/2 continued below...

So OnlyFans will be taking that route I expect. But since it's OF they will be weird and vague about it and spotty in their enforcement. Their statements today hadn't apparently been communicated to their support staff as the support staff were still assuring people that no, OF wasn't banning porn! But if one has been paying attention there have been clear warning signs that OF was headed in this direction for almost a year.
9) The new rules from Visa and Mastercard will have the impact of driving porn back to the studio model and less from individual entrepreneurs, because keeping the paperwork, checking IDs (and making copies of them) are time consuming and involve some business accumen, and let's face it, the majority of performers are not former engineers and scientists.
My credentials - I do some fetish work with nudity and am rare in that I also have a day job as a engineer, and I've been following this closely because I have never trusted any of the hosting platforms I use, not since Tumblr banned porn. All it takes is investors wanting to buy or buying the company, or the company prepping for/going IPO, for them to take a more puritan - and mainstream - stance on what they allow on their platforms.

I don't know if anyone here knows this but Twitter is moving towards allowing users to charge people to PAY for content.
Essentially you can tweet as you normally would AND then you can make "special" tweets for people who subscribe to your feed that only they can see.
I already have the feature, I don't use it. I just often get test features on my account. Onlyfans may be going away but since most of those boys are already on Twitter where they have the majority of their following it will be on to the next one. (You have to have 10K followers to even get the feature and most of them already do.)

It can also be that, once these sites become successful, they are on anti sex activists' radar contacting all kinds of sponsors and credit card companies to give them hell for associating with that ... smut.
It's like with youtube. There are those One Million Mom shrieking cunts who flag every gay themed upload no matter if it's actually explicit or not.
Conservatives have caught up on social media and, with the help of trolls, make social media a very unpleasant place. Unless platforms, moderators, and users become more selective about who they allow to visit and contribute to their platforms / site pretty much every topic will be taken over by those who strongly oppose certain topics of discussion.

by Anonymous | reply 253 | August 20, 2021 8:36 AM |
R252 oh, I'd like to see your statistics for that. Twitter is filled with "$3 0.2% Top Onlyfans" that are just get rich quick schemes from grifters, charging $50 for a 30 second badly-lit video of someone's penis. Even Bella Thorne was a grifter on the platform which didn't do them any favors. Had she not been as big a name, would she have had to refund the money? Not bloody likely.
Of course there are some good accounts, but it seems like the majority might, in fact, be shitty ones. And remember, OF rarely gives refunds. It's also notable that while OF added a ton of ways to separate people from their money with subscription and pay per message options, they didn't add a way to search the platform or require that performers list up front what you're getting in return for your money.
There's a reason for that. (See the "Dark patterns" post above).

by Anonymous | reply 258 | August 20, 2021 9:16 AM |
Meh, why are we supposed to care?
All the videos I've seen that were made for posting to OnlyFans have been boring homemade videos from a camera on a tripod, or else irritating and decidedly unerotic tease videos like the ones that annoying Nick Sandell makes. So it's not like the quality of adult content will suffer from a consumer perspective.
And from a producer/"content creator" perspective, there are OnlyFans alternatives already that appear to be less popular right now but which seem to offer the same service.
It does seem odd that OnlyFans would create a business model, become successful because of it and then undermine it, but I'm not a porn hound who pays people for the privilege of watching them pose or jerk off or swap loads with strangers several days a week, so I don't care. I'm surprised so many people do.

Samantha Bee recently shared this video on YouTube, jump to the 9 min mark. It reminded me of the hype over OnlyFans not allowing hardcore porn anymore.
In it, she talks about the issues with sites like Pintrest becoming a hotbed for social media influencers to market their products. More specifically, unsubstantiated and unproven medical supplements. The FDA doesn't have the capacity to keep track of all these people doing this on there, and large corporations are using this as a loophole to market their stuff without any legal disclaimers.
These cam sites may have some initial terms and policies when you sign up to become a paid performer, but let's be real here, they're not actively being enforced by any means. It's not just a matter of being a "prude", I'm personally very liberal myself, but there has been a lot of downright illegal shit slipping through the cracks on a regular basis. Even YouTube has had this problem since it's inception.
That said, I don't think OnlyFans will ever be able to elevate it's "brand" over being nothing more than an amateur porn site.

I know someone who is on OnlyFans. They do cheesecake type modeling and fake stripping with very tiny lingerie.
When I saw this, I couldn’t believe it. Who’s looking at that on OnlyFans, I thought. There were comments posted on another account they have, complaining that it’s not explicit, implying it was sort of false advertising, or boring. This is pretty recent for them. Before this, they were doing a lot of, here’s my hubby, isn’t he cute, type stuff. Now it’s wifey doing this stuff, hubby is nowhere around. It just seems gross to me, they both have good jobs.
They were also pushing various products. It went from pushing clothing lines, to supplements, to “selling bikinis,” now it’s this. It seems like the husband pushed the wife into this more and more. Now she’s basically doing a PG rated strip while he sits back and collects the cash. This isn’t amateur stuff either, they obviously have really good lighting and cameras. I saw people start to comment, where’s your husband, or telling the husband to stop her. He started the account in the first place. So people that follow them know who he is and know about him professionally (completely unrelated profession). Posters comment about her like she’s some dumb uneducated bimbo, but I know her, and she makes a lot of money doing something completely unrelated too. It looks like she’s just another dumb whore with a controlling husband that found a way to pimp his wife out to support him, which is weird because he owns his own business. It must not have been making that much, or he doesn’t want to work any more. They haven’t been married very long, and the minute they got married, it went from selling things to selling her.
Just everything about this is so squicky. I’m watching her throw away her career in real time, and she’s aging out of this too. It’s gross. I guess this is what the future on OnlyFans will be, housewives trying to make some extra money.

OnlyFans is the latest in a long line of platforms that made it by exploiting adult content. VCRs were nowhere until people discovered adult tapes, then DVDs. Online, Tumblr and now OnlyFans. by Anonymous | reply 304 | August 21, 2021 6:11 AM |
Yes, it's happened before but the answer is always a brand new technology. Porn drive tech, I am not exaggerating. The most searched terms on Google are porn. Porn went from Magazines = Film = Video = DVDs = Internet. What's then next big breakthrough?

by Anonymous | reply 306 | August 21, 2021 7:21 AM |
I can't believe people who don't make their money this way care about this. Who else gives a shit? Porn can be accessed free on countless websites.
I agree with the increasingly common sentiment that sex workers should be respected like any other human being, but I don't agree that it's an admirable line of work because I think it's a self-destructive line of work even when it's regulated and legitimized.
I've seen young people over the past decade become a generation of creepy semi-robotic self-marketers who as Lady Gaga said "live for the applause." All of us on social media are addicted to looking for "likes"; they were engineered by Facebook originally to trigger dopamine and get us addicted to superifical feedback so we'd use the site obsessively.
Young people grew up with this as normal.
Then they reached their sexual comings of age and took off their clothes and realized they can get zillions of likes and comments and DMs and the world would open up to them the more explicit they got. And they hear about how awful their futures are with limited jobs and lifetimes of student loan debt and so sex work and exhibitionism is an immediate prospect for them without the negatives of doing any kind of work. They've become expert marketers of their bodies who understand how to manipulate masses of people based on base animal desires and social media analytics and otherwise, many are idiots with no grasp of why intellectual curiosity and skills are important. They're going to crash and burn when they get beyond the youthful age when sex work works for them. Some are or will be wealthy as a result of what they are doing but it won't lay a foundation for a solid future and they will fail within a decade and go into absolute crises.
This shit is not good for us. I'm not speaking from a Puritan standpoint on sex, but from a standpoint of adult development, psychologically, intellectually and emotionally.
Porn used to be a place where troubled people with emotional damage go to act out from their traumas, and it was relatively few people. This democratized homemade porn mainstreaming is extending damage to a lot of people who otherwise would not have been but who are choosing the easy immediate payoff rather than using their formative youthful years investing in their minds and their capabilities. It's fucked up.
OnlyFans has been copied by other vendors and people will keep this up, but I wish they'd all fail. Yes, people have the right to engage in this kind of sex work but it's not good for anybody who does it, and from a consumer standpoint all the porn I've seen that was recorded for OnlyFans has been poor quality and unexciting. I don't see any upside to it.

So, its all good for you as long as the porn you consume is free on the internet, but when they monetize it personally, your concern for their dignity and sanity suddenly grows. How full of hypocritical shit you are? Also, the porn you consume are not "free". The websites that host them are still in it to make money. If there is no money, then they would shut down and there would be no internet porn. Its just that the internet has saturated the market, so the competition causes them to prefer ads for money over subscription. I'm sure no one was selling VSH for free in the hay days of early porn, where only a handful of stars were making them. Similarly, if you have such concern over adult entertainment industry, then why only porn? Should strip clubs, erotic performances, escort services also shut down?

I also find it hilarious the self importance of many of the idiots posting in the Twitter thread who are demanding OnlyFans give them their 20% back and apparently are serious.
Like they have a right to that because OF is banning porn in two months? You used the platform, they take 20% off the top. In return you get the platform and they pay for the bandwidth of streaming your videos. Monthly. Them banning porn in the future doesn't mean you didn't use the platform before then. The narcissism of some people.
This shit is not good for us. I'm not speaking from a Puritan standpoint on sex, but from a standpoint of adult development, psychologically, intellectually and emotionally.
I disagree. In general, the real problem with sex is society's relationship with sex where it's ok to judge and shame other people for it. People insisting that someone is less qualified for a particular job, because they supposedly lack better judgement what's appropriate in this society. A lot of people's issue is that they care too much what other people think about them and let petty judgement from others get to them.
Of course, everything - including sex - can become a self-destructive addiction for some people, but addictions are always a symptom of a deeper issue (sex as means of receiving approval from others, for example).
by Anonymous | reply 325 | August 21, 2021 8:34 PM |
And I disagree. Look at the reactions from the people who use OnlyFans. They've made a lot of money by having hyper-promiscuous unprotected sex and believe that this makes them hardworking entreprenteurs—entirely dependent on one streaming service, and when it changed its business model, all these people are acting like their natural rights to rake in cash from the public by fucking strangers is being taken away. They're devastated, they feel violated, they feel that they aren't being given what they deserve after all their hard work. I find it a bizarre societal development.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | August 21, 2021 9:26 PM |
R326 It's not bizarre in the slightest. Young people have become dependent on a gig economy due to stagnating wages, hyperinflation, higher tuition costs, and increased competition. Without gig work, society could well collapse.

I've seen a lot of ridiculous "I know several people who are suicidal at the moment at the thought of OnlyFans going under" etc.
Like bitch, do you think that over-the-top guilt shit is going to work on some cold-blooded Ukranians? I think not, it only works on Twitter. The "know people on the verge of suicide!!!" posters are also the ones DEMANDING that OnlyFans give them their 20% commission back from the beginning of their accounts, for some reason.
Incidentally, JustForFans charges 30%. Some people are pissed that others are suggesting that one because the owner of JustForFans allegedly groped some of his adult porn models at some point, but it's the biggest alternative to OnlyFans and stands to gain the most. I'm totally unsurprised that the Ukranians at OnlyFans would be mounting an attack on their site - they play dirty.

by Anonymous | reply 330 | August 21, 2021 9:51 PM |
The other thing that's funny in those OnlyFans Twitter threads is that some of the people are there humblebragging.
"OnlyFans should give us back our 20% from the start of our accounts!"
"Haha! If they did that, they'd owe me $450k!" - says a person with "0% Top OnlyFans" in her profile yet just 32k followers on Twitter
One annoying thing about the comments is the "Anyways here's my tinyfans/roundtablefans/manyvids site, 30% off today! (link)" prevalent from people.
Anyone with half a brain set up a backup account at JustForFans or some similar site ages ago and wasn't dependent on just OnlyFans anyway.

They can lash out at their video streaming service, but how will they lash out in five years when the world unfairly stops funneling money to them for getting dicked despite all their 'hard work'?
I really hope these people are getting some inkling that they are going to need some kind of skill and non-sexual working experience at some point. Getting fucked doesn't pay most people's bills past their 30s.

The thing that's stupid is that OnlyFans never promoted Sex Workers on their website and they don't even have a search feature. So most of the traffic the performers sent them came from the performers' Twitter/Instagram accounts anyway. Of course since subscribers have a lot of accounts on OnlyFans they'll have to set up new accounts on the other streaming sites as well, if they haven't already.
The performers just need to migrate their data and set up on a new system, promote the change on their Twitters/Instagrams like the promotion they are already doing, and their subscribers will slowly migrate. Yeah, probably all of them will lose some subscribers initially, but they'll get them back as everything stabilizes.
I think that's the issue - there will definitely be an interruption to money for some of them, or at least they will not make as much as they were for a period of time, until the dust settles. But it's unlikely anyone will just go to zero overnight assuming they act quickly and migrate.

by Anonymous | reply 349 | August 21, 2021 10:30 PM |
It just seems strange to me, the whole thing. My grandma taught me, "you don't want to be where you're not welcome."
There are OnlyFans alternatives. I see people promoting them. Porn star Austin Wolf owns one and he has announced his team will migrate all data from anyone's OnlyFans account. People who direct their followers from Twitter, TikTok etc. can redirect to another company.
Instead of freaking out at OnlyFans, saying their hard cocked work isn't appreciated while simultaneously begging the company to change its mind, why not migrate to a company run by a sex worker that won't change its mind? Why not welcome the opportunity to to stop giving OnlyFans the money they bring in if they feel disrespected by OnlyFans?
If I hated my boss, made money for my boss, felt disrespected by my boss and had an opportunity to do the same work for a different boss and share my money with that boss instead, I would make the move. I wouldn't hang around and demand respect from the guy who I felt treated me disrespectfully.

The same thing happens to Youtubers who get strikes...once you have built your audience on a platform its hard to transition. It like actors starting a music career lol. People are used to you being available in one place and they dont like it when they have to find you elsewhere
by Anonymous | reply 355 | August 21, 2021 10:48 PM |
R353 I don't know anything about him being cancelled. It wouldn't surprise me. Despite all the pressure today to insist sex workers are no different than the average doctors, coal miners and IT engineers, DataLounge has taught me that a huge fucking share of porn stars are really disturbed people who commit violent crimes including rape (Sebastian Young and Topher DiMaggio come to mind), kill themselves (too many to count), are drug addicted, or even say things like the NextDoor/Corbin Fisher twink who said "COVID hasn't killed enough people" at the height of the pandemic, with a half million Americans dead and counting.
Austin Wolf's version of OnlyFans is called "4my.fans" (not sure if that's where the dot goes?) and I've seen a couple gay porn stars announce they are moving there. I just can't figure why they would resist doing that at this point. OnlyFans told them to get the fuck out, so why would anyone want to keep paying them a commission?
by Anonymous | reply 356 | August 21, 2021 10:51 PM |
I didn't know this until now, but apparently OnlyFans ALSO limits the numbers of videos you can delete each day. It used to be 20, and now it's 1 (!)
It's kind of telling when a platform has to add stops like that in order to prevent people from leaving en masse.
by Anonymous | reply 357 | August 21, 2021 10:53 PM |
That itself is kind of weird because OnlyFans said they had to remove the offending content by October 1st or risk being banned. Some accounts have nothing but offending content.

R355 I think YouTube is different because although it isn't a monopoly, it is basically a monopoly. It's like NBC and CBS in the old broadcast TV days. Vimeo is like a UHF channel that people forget is there; if it wasn't on one of the big four back then, it pretty much wasn't seen.
But as someone above said, people don't browse and search OF for "shows," they follow links from social media accounts to the website specifically to subscribe to a given person's account to watch them sexually exploit themselves. I think horny men would follow any naked person who gets their dick hard to any website; they're not exclusively loyal to any goven site in the way that people default to YouTube and watch whatever the algorithm feeds them.
by Anonymous | reply 359 | August 21, 2021 10:55 PM |
Oh here's why Austin Wolf got cancelled. I don't hear it being mentioned as much lately though. It does seem like kind of nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 360 | August 21, 2021 10:57 PM |
r359 the main issue is one of friction to signing up. The subscribers have to make a new account on a new site, make sure their credit card company won't reject the charges (mine did that the few times I've signed up to adult sites, as "fraud checks"), and then sign up to the star. So there's some new friction involved.
Every time a subscriber has to THINK about their subscription, there's a not-insignificant chance they will decide to cancel or just not move to the new site. That's why it makes the most sense for people to focus on a handful of the new sites, and why JustForFans already has a big head start since they're #2. Totally not surprised they'd be suffering a DDOS attack today.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | August 21, 2021 11:01 PM |
Oh, and that's also why I think most of the performers will see a dip in their revenues, short term, until the dust has settled from all this. That's really what they should be upset about, even if many of them don't realize it at the time. I don't really see that mentioned, though, as Twitter isn't the place for nuance.

R361 They built their customer base once, they can do it again. If they really thought like entrepreneurs who run businesses, then they'd realize the cost of doing business, the hiccups involved, times of marketing and re-growing a customer base, and they'd much rather partner with a loyal partner than with someone they know doesn't believe in their business as OnlyFans has no firmly stated it does not.

R360 That's actually one of the weakest cases for 'canceling' someone I've seen. He told someone if they don't like this country they should move. That is not at all the same thing as saying "go back to where you came from." I mean, the dude seems to fuck a new twink every single day of the year and he looks like a bored, nipple-pinching Labrador retriever humping a leg while he does it. I'm not exactly a fan, but if what you posted is the worst he's said, then he's practically a saint by gay porn star standards. Billy Santoro, cruel disease spreader and overt racist, deserved to be canceled and Topher DiMaggio, who managed to turn in bored-looking performances his whole career while being an alleged serial rapist, deserved to be canceled. "Move to another country where you'll be happier" doesn't seem like such an offense to me.

r364 it will likely happen again, and again, because Visa and Mastercard are the ones calling the shots and they have been the ones requiring all of the documentation and data from companies on their network due to pressures from various outside entities. They've been tightening their rules on porn the past few years, and increasing the requirements and generally creating a much bigger administrative hurdle for companies like OnlyFans to jump through. OnlyFans passes it on to their performers, but they as a company are responsible for enforcing it, and the enforcement aspect is where they are falling short. Porn is getting pushed back towards the studio model.
I see a lot of ignorant posts on Twitter in the OnlyFans threads about "why can't they just use ccbill or another adult card provider" where the people don't realize that Visa and Mastercard are the underpinning of the vast majority of credit card processing, worldwide. Even ccbill has to bow to them or risk having their access to the networks pulled.
The issue with OnlyFans, though, is that they SEEM to have done this as a reaction to that pending BBC expose about their business practices, especially around the moderation of illegal porn. It really seems like a panic situation for them because they were expecting to get the Pornhub treatment where Visa and MC outright dropped support for Mindgeek (owners of Pornhub), plus it seemed like they have been moving in that direction for awhile, as far as not allowing porn on the site. To me that seems a bit off, though - I think there may be another reason for the overnight reaction we haven't learned yet.
r365 he's a big SJWer, and they are very quick to attack their own. I think it happened during the whole BLM riots thing and when other porn stars (Billy Santoro) were being super-cancelled.

He actually seems super "woke."
“I don’t know if I am the right person [to speak about racism]” Wolf says. “White privilege is real. I’m fully aware of what it is and what it means. This isn’t to say that I understand what it’s like to be a person of color... I know life is easy for me in comparison. I know I have a head start in life. I’m 6’4, 265 lbs, and I’m white. It doesn’t get much easier than that.”
"Watching my friends of color having to work harder, struggle harder, [with] much less followers, much less fans — that’s just in my industry — it’s things that I see,” he continues. “I don’t like when people are picked on. I don’t like when people are thought of as less than, whether it’s for color, femininity, homosexuality. Life has been easier for me so it’s my duty to stick up. How do we sit comfortable… doing as well as we do seeing what we see and saying nothing? It’s hard for me not to say something.” “I think that video needed to come from somebody that looked like me,” he adds.
Wolf wrote back, “Then move. That’s a small-minded answer from [an] ignorant person. Plenty of places in the world for u to try out. Have at it. Trust me. No one’s stopping u.” Wolf claims he didn’t know the user was Black when he made the remarks. “I woke up the next morning and it turns out that young man is a person of color,” Wolf says. “People are assuming that that conversation was race-based and it was not. I was talking to Americans in general: We have to vote. We have to register.” “Needless to say, it was a brash and insensitive comment, especially given where we are,” he added. “And I wasn’t paying attention at all to who I was speaking to. It was rude and it was a mistake. Of course, [now] people are lumping me into the same category as [Santoro], which is really disheartening.”

A podcast I heard this week, either the NYT "The Daily" or The Guardian, was about how all online tech companies enable child pornography and have invested a lot of effort and money into keeping it out of the news cycle but hardly any into cracking down on the illegal child endangerment. R371 True. Again, though, if these home broadcasters are going to claim that their self-exploitation for easy money is legitimate business, then they are going to have to learn the ins and outs of actually running a business, including all associated regulations, marketing expenses to earn customer bases, recovery in slowed economies or when there are tech glitches, etc. One of the vendors I work with disappeared over the pandemic. I just found out last week. They have the art files I need to print something and I can't get in touch with anyone. I can't take it out on them for "abandoning me." It's just something I need to work around and recover from and these things happen in business. If sex workers are going to call themselves entrepreneurs, they need to operate their businesses as businesses and not act like they've been abandoned at the altar.
So, its all good for you as long as the porn you consume is free on the internet, but when they monetize it personally, your concern for their dignity and sanity suddenly grows.
There are people who want to put down pornstars. They call them sluts and whores. They want to critique anyone that dares show their penis or tits for cash. Then they go home and jerk off furiously to them. They start threads on them across the internet and talk about how they want to fuck them and ask, "What's your favorite porn scene?"
It's fine if it's free. If they want to be paid then it becomes a problem. The minute they're asked to treat them like human beings is the exact time they suddenly have an issue with them.
I think the real problem is that these companies love the idea of making money off of porn but when they are tasked with regulating themselves it suddenly becomes a problem. Hire a team and keep the bad shit off your platform by reviewing what goes up. Force performers to get anyone they're doing a scene with to sign documentation that they've agreed to do the scene like any studio would do.

Just because you're young, hot and adored, the hard reality is that big business does not give a shit about your future or your rent. And make no mistake, porn is a big business enterprise now and in no way exempt from the same "disruptions" that every white and blue collar worker faces.

OnlyFans new TOS bans masturbation among other things, due to pressure from Visa/Mastercard. Chaturbate accepts Visa/Mastercard payments for tokens. How long can they continue?
by Anonymous | reply 389 | August 22, 2021 2:57 AM |
R389 Chaturbate does ID verification for all its models and make them sign the model agreement to ensure their adulthood and consent. That's what OF lacks, which is why its under fire for by Visa/MC.

by Anonymous | reply 395 | August 22, 2021 3:19 AM |
R389 at issue are the documentation requirements. OnlyFans had some other reason for this move that wasn't related to the new documentation requirements by the card processors. They're just using that as an excuse.

r396 What do you suspect that reason might be?
by Anonymous | reply 397 | August 22, 2021 3:23 AM |
It’s been well-established OnlyFans was merely giving people who violated the Terms of Service warnings, even when the violations involved potentially underage performers.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | August 22, 2021 3:26 AM |
R397 the BBC is claiming it was because of their big expose that was about to come out in a few days on an OnlyFans moderator manual they had obtained that showed that things like the amount of money an account makes were taken into consideration for how strictly to enforce the rules against illegal or invalid content or behavior. They had called OnlyFans for comment on the story I think the day before they announced this obviously rushed move.
OnlyFans SEEMS like they are doing it because they were worried about getting Pornhubbed by Visa and Mastercard. Plus there had been signs the company was wanting to move in that direction for a year now.
I don't think that is the only reason though. Something doesn't quite add up because it seems like an overreaction. That's why I think there is another reason we have yet to learn, the TRUE reason they really made the move. Although I'm sure all of the above were factors weighing on it.
by Anonymous | reply 399 | August 22, 2021 3:30 AM |
R398 "well established" = part of the hit piece the BBC was doing on them that all came to a head this week.

by Anonymous | reply 402 | August 22, 2021 3:44 AM |
Comment on the above - I think this part isn't correct:
"The requirement of updating identification on scenes filmed in the past means that once a performer’s identification on file expires, the entire scene or film they appeared in must be removed."
I didn't read the new rules that way. I think it depends on how they are interpreted by the platform.
OnlyFans started requiring consent forms and ID for each model in a video or photo fairly recently. Pornhub has been requiring it for several years.
The laws that she is talking about in the article above are around 2257 forms and identification requirement. What Mastercard (and Visa before them) are doing is several steps beyond the actual law. They can get away with this because of their monopoly positions.
Really Congress needs to update the law and take it out of Visa and Mastercard's hands, but I wouldn't trust them to do much better.
by Anonymous | reply 403 | August 22, 2021 3:51 AM |
R401 I think that it's a conspiracy theory with no real connection to reality. The amount of people on OnlyFans and similar sites are still a tiny, tiny percentage of the labor market.
Besides, it's been established where the pressure is coming from. It's from both the right and the left, under their new buzzphrase of "sex trafficking" and child ezploitation, as well as "activist" investors.

R401 Only a handful made six figures. And most of them did simply because they were first to the market before it became saturated. R406 they started requiring it for scene partners earlier this year. Everyone was complaining at the time that they had to remove a lot of content because they hadn't been keeping proper records. The post at r390, however, says that OF didn't require id verification for performers at all, which is incorrect because they did and do.
by Anonymous | reply 409 | August 22, 2021 5:33 AM |
And most of them did simply because they were first to the market before it became saturated.
The celebrities that got on it made quite a bit, even though they came in later.
Bella Thorne made 1 million her first day by the end of her first week she had made 2 million.
Rapper Tyga made 7.9 million over the course of a year.
Cardi B made $10 million a month.
On average, apparently, people made about $180 a month which isn't much at all.
Essentially, about 34 percent of the users make a lot of money on the platform. The rest simply don't. The trick has always been to be there early OR have a large following somewhere else that you can shuffle on over to the platform. It's like getting a lit manager. They only want you if you have a huge following already.
I do know a few people who were in their top percentage of earners and most of them cleared 10K a month BUT they all had huge followings elsewhere already. Your average person, as everyone knows, just can't jump on it and expect to make cash.

by Anonymous | reply 413 | August 22, 2021 6:15 AM |
I think it's interesting that posters still argue about sex being the problem when this is purely a business related issue. Commercial sex is bad for the credit card companies' image. And, for whatever reason, they care about their image more than making billions and billions off of the sex industry at this point.
The issue isn't finding a new site where the content creators can charge for their porn related content. It's finding a service that is willing to bring the money, customers or fans are willing to pay, to the content creators. Apparently, cryptocurrency is currently the way to go.

r410 I know some are understandably sceptical of or even poo pooing the capitalism concern theory as being behind this change by Onlyfans if only a partial cause. But 34% of people making a real good living to the tune of 10,000 a month sounds to me to be a big enough effect to have a at least a distorting effect on the labour market. At least to an extent it could maybe cause concern to some?

R413 most of the legal prostitutes in the Netherlands red light district were brought in from other countries and sex trafficking is a big problem there.
by Anonymous | reply 416 | August 22, 2021 7:43 AM |
R415, I went back and double-checked. The numbers are hugely different everywhere and some people have misinterpreted information. So let me correct it based on what I've found or rather what was printed two days ago by several outlets. I was wrong.
Onlyfans claims they have 2 million content creators. (130 million users.) 1% of Onlyfans creators make 33% of all the money on onlyfans. So that's 20,000 people. 10% of their users make 73% of the money on onlyfans. If you make over 10K a month then Onlyfans considers you a "Top User" in the 1% and up but this changes depending on how much everyone else made. (It doesn't change by much these days.)
To put it more concretely:
For one woman, when she was in the top 10% she made 2K that *week.* Then at 1% she made 8K a week. Then at .09% she made 15K a week. This is all give or take a thousand or so because their Top designations are based upon the percentage of all users at that time. It also fluctuates based upon how much people are charging in general. This is thrown off even further thanks to merchandising and private messaging and videos outside of the platform.
However, there's a STEEP dropoff outside of 10%. So on July 21, 2021 if you were in the top 20% you made about 300.00 a month. So 80% of their users were making that based on a figure of 2 million creators so that that's 1,600,000 (worldwide) users not cracking 20%. The average is likely right and the same everywhere even if the other numbers vary. It's still $180.00 a month.
I guess people on Twitter are losing their minds over it because most of them make up that 20,000. Those are likely the users who already had a following from Twitter to bring to the platform because they were already "internet" people. Their voices are the loudest since they have the most followers to like and RT what they said.

It goes way beyond sluts showing their holes. This is a case study of this new wave of online subscription services and how they work. Id be interested to see how a flat rate subscription service would work, like users paying $15 a month for all the content they could consume on a platform.

This average overlooks the likelihood that a lot of people who make accounts probably never use them at all. I have a bad habit of doing this—I have blogs I never post to, a YouTube account I've posted a few random videos to over the years, a Patreon account I never used, a podcast account I never used. I would guess the majority of OnlyFans accounts are basically inactive, probably started by lazy people who thought it might be fun and lucrative and then either never used them or else did the bare minimum before determining they hadn't struck gold and moved on.
Are they trying to push all adult sites to crypto?
This is what I think is really crazy about all of this. If the adult entertainment industry and sex workers are forced to ditch the dollar and start trading in crypto currencies, that's actually really bad for the US government.
It would see those crypto currencies significantly rise in value, in comparison to the US dollar, which is already under heavy inflation pressure.
It would allow for trading to occur in a secure method where they can underreport or even refuse to report their income to the IRS, which would cut government revenue significantly.
It would also allow people to start trading with countries and individuals who are under heavy US sanctions, such as Iran and Cuba, which would weaken and even destroy the effect of them in terms of pursuing US diplomatic policy.
I think, push come to shove, despite this being an edict of big business to try to force these people back into the labor market, that the US government is going to have to step in here and find a way to regulate this themselves. Too many ways this can blow up in its face if left to the whims of Visa and Mastercard alone.

R415 No, it wouldn't have a big enough effect. They have, as a high estimate, maybe a million performers on OnlyFans. The average takehome is $180 a month. 1% of the performers make 33% of the money. Which leaves maybe a third to half of the performers who are making a living wage.
I know the conspiracy theory sounds good because Evil Giant Corporations are Evil, but it doesn't make logical sense if you look at the numbers. For most of OF performers it's a way to augment their existing income from a standard job.

R307's provincial attitude is neither novel nor groundbreaking, and his rant offers little depth representing great analysis. It's the same rationale we've heard since man scrawled stick figures on the wall of the cave with the platitude clearly expressed: It's great when I need to get off; otherwise, bad people doing bad things, and [italic]it shouldn't be allowed [/italic] . Won't somebody think of the children? At least until I get horny and have 5 minutes to rub one out, right R307?
but it won't lay a foundation for a solid future
Are you talking about porn, or are you talking about getting an education? As we've seen and heard (ad infinitum), there's not much a young person can do today to build a foundation for a solid future, whether it's porn or rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, and there are literally millions of people in their 20s and 30s who would argue the point (and begging for loan forgiveness). No, these are not equivalent activities for anybody, young or old, and if I had a child who had reached the age of majority and wanted to go into adult work, I would discourage them not because of the inherent risks and rewards of it, but because people like R307 — not to single R307 out as unique or even an outlier — are happy to watch porn (better yet, for free so that it makes the situation even more degrading! Who wants their work to be valued so little that stealing it is actually praised?) and then judge the people who make it as inferior, damaged, and doomed to failure. Sounds an awful lot like a self-fulfilling prophesy.
I think the saddest point R307 made was
Porn used to be a place where troubled people with emotional damage go to act out from their traumas
as though this armchair psychiatry has any basis in fact or reality. Yes, there are fucked-up people who make porn. There are also fucked-up people who go into medicine, become lawyers, accountants, teachers, plumbers and bus drivers. I cull this list because I personally know people in each of these disciplines who have also made porn, and to a person have expressed greater laments about their non-adult work than their appearance(s) in porn. The teacher friend summed it up best when he said (no quotation marks as I'm paraphrasing) like teaching high school English is such an honorable profession... you can tell by the way I'm highly paid, my judgment respected, and don't have to deal with the worst society has to offer.

The sex industry will never cease to exist. The attempts to demonetize it will just push cryptocurrency in a more semi-mainstream position where porn enthusiasts will join that crypto market to satisfy their demand for regular porn that's pushed to join the cryptocurrency business because of credit card companies refusing to do business with the sex industry in general.
And yeah, porn enthusiasts will go to great lengths to get their fix for new content. And all the anti sex activists have accomplished is making the Deep or Dark Web more mainstream by pushing the mainstream sex industry to join.

Crypto is too hard to use for routine transactions though, and too volatile. It's not like Joe User can easily transfer money from their bank account into a crypto account and then
And new rules around crypto mean that in order to use it within the existing platforms like Coinbase etc, you have to provide ID and other things like you would for a bank account, which makes a big hurdle for most people.
Additionally, the crypto market is way too fragmented.

R442, The industry would have to decide on a Stablecoin tied to the USD. Tether is an obvious option. It has been around since 2014 but most people don't know about it because you can't get rich off of it. They could also go with something that's more stable than Bitcoin and well known like Ethereum.
Pornhub ONLY accepts ACH payments or Crypto these days post credit card company purge. So it's not like this hasn't been done before because of this issue.
Pornhub accepts Verge, Tron, Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. To address volatility they also take and pay in Tether where it's pretty much $1 = 1 USDT (the abb for tether) all the time.

Crypto may not be the answer, but they need to find alternatives to credit cards already. Apart from the fact that accepting only credit cards makes adult sites too dependent on the good grace of mastercard et al., there are countries (like my home country of Germany) where credit cards are not widely used, and a lot of people can't even get one. Last year I went through the hassle of purchasing a virtual credit card, and was surprised OF actually accepted it. But they changed something about the authentication process, and I don't think it would still work.
Buying and paying with crypto was quite a hassle as well, and a few monts ago I was suddenly asked to verify my identity which pissed me off ... still better than being denied access to things like a $10/month subscription just because you don't have a fucking credit card though.
by Anonymous | reply 450 | August 23, 2021 1:07 AM |
Yeah someone does! You just have to make a network like Mastercard and Visa (like Discover and American Express have). No idea what's involved but I'm assuming it's a big deal.
by Anonymous | reply 451 | August 23, 2021 1:10 AM |
R445, there are a couple of lawsuits, one from 2018 and one recent one. Point is, stablecoins (beyond Tether) exist and are in use by companies. In order to deal with volatility, maybe not tether but the idea behind it. I do think Pornhub is a great example of a company that has switched to crypto nearly entirely because they can't work with Mastercard or Visa anymore.
R440, I was really speaking to how crypto is more accepted than it was a few years ago with mainstream companies integrating it into their payment systems. As such, they have to make it easy for people. I personally don't think it's hard to buy crypto but I'm not a normal person and I had someone walk me through it the first time and explain wallets and all that to me. I have an aunt who is in her 50s who does it regularly but her bank also integrated transferring USD into crypto currencies a couple of years ago.
R450, I know there's some kind of alternative system for using credit cards for medical marijuana. I believe it's more like you transfer cash from your bank account to their system and then you can use that to pay with a code at a register? I think it's called Canpay or something like that. So I'm sure something can be done and the company that comes up with it first is going to make bank.
Also, yes. I remember that. Onlyfans was weird as hell about what cards it would take for years. Something changed and then it was more accepting of a variety of cards.

by Anonymous | reply 468 | August 23, 2021 10:39 PM |
R468 based on Patreon, likely allowed if they aren't naked, closeup shots or the focus of the video.

The hardons have to be fully clothed?
by Anonymous | reply 470 | August 23, 2021 10:49 PM |
Yes, formal wear only.

Only from the customers.

They can flex with their gym bros and having soft dicks won't be a problem.

I used to think Brandts Boys (or whatever the name is) was lame for posting their stuff on an independent website when it had an OF quality to it, but looks like they made the right move.
by Anonymous | reply 474 | August 24, 2021 11:47 AM |
I think they were around before OnlyFans became big and having your own site was the primary option. Plus they didn't have to give OF 20-30%.
by Anonymous | reply 475 | August 24, 2021 2:10 PM |
Well, the only OF I ever subscribed to gave me only the same material as his fully public photos—with occasionally maybe a half-inch glimpse of ballsack. I unsubscribed after a month of nuthin'.
by Anonymous | reply 476 | August 24, 2021 2:14 PM |
And.. OnlyFans reverses their decision.
Guess the fallout from the BBC article wasn't as big as they expected.
This is an incredibly vague post.
by Anonymous | reply 477 | August 25, 2021 1:37 PM |
Should there be a new thread titled with: “Whores Celebrate: OnlyFans reverse decision”?
by Anonymous | reply 478 | August 25, 2021 2:12 PM |
Since they changed their mind can we get Craigslist and Tumblr to go back on their stuff as well?
I mean if it’s a litigation issue than OnlyFans will probably be slapped by the government eventually. So make that money
by Anonymous | reply 479 | August 25, 2021 5:44 PM |
No offence, but I always felt people who spend money on Onlyfans have more money than sense, especially in a world where porn is ubiquitous and free. Why not give to charity and actual worthy causes?
by Anonymous | reply 480 | August 25, 2021 5:49 PM |
Oh no, they're allowing porn again? Seriously? I wanted that shithole of a site to DIE so all the hot guys would move on to more user-friendly sites! Fuck Onlyfans!
by Anonymous | reply 481 | August 25, 2021 6:04 PM |
r478 There are at least two already.

I hope the entitled content creator whores sue for mental distress.
by Anonymous | reply 483 | August 25, 2021 6:12 PM |
Yeah, R480, let's just donate to charity and feel good about ourselves while we watch all the free porn that contributes to underpayment and exploitation of porn actors and forces many of them into prostitution!
by Anonymous | reply 484 | August 25, 2021 6:14 PM |
R480 it's people's money, they can choose what to spend it on.
You may not like paying for porn, but it's similar to the Napster argument when music was being pirated - you CAN get the pirated "free" versions of porn, but some people prefer to get the more easily available, better quality version from the source.
Also, if everyone had your attitude about it, porn wouldn't be ubiquitous anymore because people wouldn't be making it if no one was buying. It's a business like any other.
by Anonymous | reply 485 | August 25, 2021 6:14 PM |
A sinister and mendacious business. Also people who pay for porn deserve to be robbed.
by Anonymous | reply 486 | August 25, 2021 6:19 PM |
I guess most people who pay for Onlyfans do so because they're attracted to a certain performer, or several performers, who don't do classic porn (anymore). I would have subscribed to a favorite of mine, a retired porn actor, if he hadn't deleted his profile before I had everything set up.
by Anonymous | reply 487 | August 25, 2021 6:21 PM |
R480, I really would encourage people to heed your words. I first subscribed to OnlyFans during the early days of the pandemic (April 2020) and my last subscription expired a few days ago. The truth is, between subscriptions, tips, and even a few Amazon wishlist purchases, I easily spent $2,000.
I promise everyone: Even models who post every day post the same repetitive shit….and often they use the same photos they posted for free on Reddit and Twitter to lure subscribers in the first place! Also, you’ll quickly find the more prolific models like Griffin Barrows, Chris Damned, Rhyheim Shabazz, Christian Styles, Josh Moore, and others are inescapable! They show up on everyone’s feed and they quickly lose their appeal.
Don’t even get me started on the professional gay baiters like Wolverpeen, Daddy Diesel, Logan Wall, Boner5150 and others who constantly post stuff like, “Who wants to fuck this ass?” yet the rare times they post sex vids, it’s with women 🤮
I have self-esteem issues and know I’m pathetic for paying so much to see hot guys naked. However, the best stuff these models post is usually paid content that ends up on free sites within a week or two.
by Anonymous | reply 488 | August 25, 2021 6:24 PM |
I don't think people should be shamed and ridiculed for paying for porn, be it onlyfans/justforfans et al. or classic studio porn. However, I'd draw the line at buying the performer's gifts, or sending money via cashapp etc. without getting anything in return. It creates an unhealthy illusion of a relationship/real friends helping each other out.
by Anonymous | reply 489 | August 25, 2021 6:35 PM |
No offence, but I always felt people who spend money on Onlyfans have more money than sense, especially in a world where porn is ubiquitous and free. Why not give to charity and actual worthy causes?
People are paying for the interaction with the performer. There is also the added bonus of seeing people you would never get to see in porn doing stuff they are comfortable with. I guess if you're into hardcore shit, or don't care about the performer or their looks, then any porn will suffice.
by Anonymous | reply 490 | August 25, 2021 6:46 PM |
You have a point not R489. The gift buying and tips were a bad idea, because then I’d feel bad if the gift wasn’t acknowledged.
If someone is curious, I’d encourage them to follow a few tips:
Do not subscribe to any account over $10…it’s never worth it and performers often offer steep discounts. Create a list of accounts you’re interested in subscribing to and keep an eye out (via the site or Twitter) for deals.
Don’t subscribe to porn star accounts. It’s easy to see their best work for free for one thing. Also, they tend to be the worst about setting up a camera 50ft away and splicing in POV shots.
If you subscribe to an account, never buy a video being sold for more than $5. Usually if they’re a porn star they’re trying to sell you studio content that can be easily found for free elsewhere. I subscribed to straight porn star Thomas Skoloudik (Tommy Wood), who often teases gay content. After finally breaking down and buying a 15 vid, it turned out to be a blurry, early 2000s clip he ripped from a free site. I told him off and he sent me what he claimed was $50 worth of content (unfortunately, all of it was straight).
by Anonymous | reply 491 | August 25, 2021 6:54 PM |
Another saddo here. I'd pay A LOT for a custom video from my favorite performer showing what his face currently looks like (he'd have to provide proof it was taken recently though). His dick and whole? Nah, I've seen those a thousand times. If he made an onlyfans, 4myfans or whatever with just hole close-ups or other faceless stuff, I would not subscribe.

The "straight" porn star Brandon Ashton/Omar Brown ripped me off trying to see me an extra video, his "first time" with a man. After being paid, "Brandon" said that he needed $50 more because of the fee for the other man in the scene. I told him I wasn't paying more for anything, and threatened to spread the word of his selling a video for one price and then trying to gouge for more after payment was made..
Like R491's whore, Brandon/Omar then sent me a bunch of short, blurry straight and solo videos to make up for the payment.
They are ALL grifters who lie.

The only bad thing about this is that the scammers on the platform are vindicated and will double down on their practices. The real whores will be justified and emboldened. Their behavior will get worse. Already see it, all these whores continue to travel all over the problem even though Summer is over and Delta is raging.

r494 I only sub to 1 or 2 guys every other month or so. 1 is always one of my go to guys, with guaranteed good content. The other is usually someone Im not so sure about, so I take a chance and sub for one month. I have a specific type of dude that gets me off, so that greatly reduces the chances of me going crazy and spending too much.

R505 I really think they were worried about getting their payment processors dropping them because of that BBC report. And who knows, if they hadn't done the dramatic original announcement, the report might have picked up steam like the New York Times piece did on Pornhub.
Also it's a badly run company. Upper management is shady and foreign so they make these rookie mistakes all the time. They especially have issues with their terms of service and uneven enforcement, far more issues than a company of their valuation should.
The difference between the original porn sites the owners used to run before buying OF and this one is that OnlyFans became a phenomenon, and therefore lots of attention was put on it. The owners aren't used to playing by the rules.
I doubt the named CEO really runs things. He seems like a figurehead for the owners. And the OF comms on Twitter are written by someone who doesn't have English as a first language, and whoever it is, is a poor choice.
They may be a billion dollar company but they are not being run like one. That would give me, if I were a potential investor, a lot more pause than the porn issue.
by Anonymous | reply 508 | August 26, 2021 5:36 AM |
I know there are a lot of lazy whores who hadn't started moving their shit to a new site, and they will probably just stay where they are. But I really hope they lose a lot of business from it and are no longer the industry leader.
TBH the ones that have left already - the ones dramatically posting "I've lost 700 subscribers overnight!" - says person who has 12k followers on Twitter. Sure, you had 700 subscribers 🙄 and sure you lost that many suddenly due to the OnlyFans announcement 🙄
I have seen more obvious liars on the Twitter threads for this than even I was expecting. The majority of OF whores are not the best and brightest, and many seem to be flimflam artists and grifters (I know using that word on the DL is triggering to some, but get over it).
And I'm still just surprised at the gall of the people asking for free money and compensation for the "stress" caused by the whiplash of these announcements. And some who apparently don't know how percentages work.
In real life, many of those people seem actually dangerous - mentally unbalanced, entitled fuckwits. I wouldn't want to personally know a lot of the women I've seen posting. And it has been majority women.
by Anonymous | reply 509 | August 26, 2021 5:45 AM |
The entitlement comes from the free handouts and ego stroking from fans. People gas up and give these people too much free stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 510 | August 26, 2021 5:48 AM |
A friend of mine makes very little from the site, BUT he has an amazon wish list and he gets tons of stuff which he promptly sells. It's very lucrative and I'm sure his 'fans" would be very upset if they knew he gets rid of it all for the cash.

Weird, normally I only see things like underwear, workout clothes, phones, XBox or Playstation, weights, the occasional computer, and then a few ridiculous items like a car or motorbike. Items that a hot straight guy who is in his twenties would want. Usually they're items mostly germane to the OnlyFans page and what the person does on it.

by Anonymous | reply 517 | August 26, 2021 11:47 AM |
R515 I'm not. OnlyFans has made several posts about this (We're banning porn! We support sex workers! Now we are suspending our ban!) and anyone can respond. Many of the comments are from the OnlyFans women who make up the majority of the performer userbase, and some of them post repeatedly, responding to others' comments.
And there are a surprising number of clearly unbalanced people responding. Their posts do stand out.

R214 and R218, I subscribed to that dude's profile as well (it was a cheap introductory rate, and had I continued it would have doubled the next month. While he's undeniably gorgeous, there is just something really unsexy (and sometimes creepy) about these guys filming no-heart-in-it "porn" with guys who are clearly unaroused. Also, the whole intimate interaction thing these guys try to do with their subscribers is just pandering. I'll be the first to admit that I love watching the guy work over his hole, but I don't believe for a second the guy actually wants ME to do that to him. I'd rather him just jerk off without trying to "connect" with me.
The peachyboy guy is the only well-known guy I follow. I know a few guys in my local gay community who have started them and I've followed theirs, on and off, for a while. They have all mostly ben abandoned at this point. One thing I have to say, is that once you've seen what they got, it all gets repetitive. I really only need to see a guy's dick once, or see him have sex once before the allure is entirely gone. So I get why people subscribe to them, but I really don't understand who is paying these guys month after month to see the same thing over and over.
by Anonymous | reply 520 | August 26, 2021 9:51 PM |
What a truly noble soul this person is! I'm sure his subs were totally altruistic.

Will the useless hacks at onlyfans finally invest some of the money that the hard-working whores earned them back into their technical infrastructure? Will they implement up-to-date payment methods like Pornhub and JustforFans? A browse/explore function? A WORKING search function?
The current controversy aside, I wonder if most of those whores have ever tried using onlyfans as customers. Do they even realize how abysmally shitty of a website it is, that OF does NOTHING to promote their profiles, and that some performers are basically being shadow-banned by the permanently broken search function? Imo they're being ripped off - OF's competitors may take a higher percentage of performers' earnings, but they provide an infrastructure that can help boost their customer base.
by Anonymous | reply 522 | August 28, 2021 11:21 PM |
R552 they've been coasting. They certainly didn't invest in customer support.
