Osucka cried when local Cincy sports reporter Paul Daugherty asked about her depression. Now calls are coming to have Daugherty fired for being 'mean' to her. Too bad Naomi is not in Afghanistan now.

R2 And idiot maybe, and anti vaxxer i don't think so. He said he doesn't have any problem if the vaccine is mandatory
R5 Osaka maybe should prepare herserlf for the questions because that question was totally expected, for a lot of people the fact that she has so many troubles with press conferences but had zero trouble with promotion and social media is something suspicious and the question was totally legit.
RBA is in really bad form lately, losing in straight sets with young Grigor is a red sign
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 17, 2021 5:54 PM |
she is pathetic. she is doing it for purpose to prove that she is being abused
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 17, 2021 5:58 PM |
Nice Guy Norrie suddenly looking quite studly with a buzz cut and a short beard. Plus he's currently kicking Isner's flat ass.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 17, 2021 6:44 PM |
Why did Evans start shouting at Lil’ Diego yesterday?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 17, 2021 7:02 PM |
Who knew being a professional tennis player was so hard! Gayle King was on the defense of Naomi this morning, so she'll be fine.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 17, 2021 7:14 PM |
R10 probably because it was Lil Diego's birthday and Psycho Dan wanted to ruin it!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 17, 2021 7:26 PM |
R6, refusing to get the vaccine unless it becomes mandatory sounds like anti to me. I used to like Tsitsifits but he's really gotten insufferable. between his racket throwing, bubble breaking and pity-seeking for his allegedly fragile mental state because an ATP top 3 player's life raking in millions on the tour is oh so hard.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 17, 2021 8:13 PM |
R13 you are heartless. Titsy's granny died during the French Open. How do you expect him to be over that?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 17, 2021 8:20 PM |
He could always consult Naomi's shrink.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 17, 2021 8:26 PM |

Who keeps fucking deleting tennis threads? Why?!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 17, 2021 11:10 PM |
[quote] Tennis threads are often paywalled at around 300-400 posts. That’s apparently done to attract more subscribers. The few tennis fans here just start another thread. Presumably the actual deletion of threads is done to more aggressively “encourage” posters to subscribe. The posts are innocuous, and it’s largely the same posters thread after thread. I doubt anyone who hasn’t subscribed by now would subscribe whatever the tactic.

Rumor around wet grounds at Cincy is that Naomi may pull out tomorrow before she would face CoCo. Going to claim injury.

Benoit team. Can't stand that idiot, Shapo. Between the bouncing the ball between his legs from back to front like that deplorable Isner and the INCESSANT "come on"-ing and fist pumping on every...single...point...won, even when it is because the other player missed, he is insufferable.

by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 18, 2021 6:04 AM |
WTA drama! Yastremska seemed pissed the crowd was mostly cheering for local favorite McNally and of course took a MTO when she was 2-5 behind in the second set. Afterwards she managed to turn things around and win the match but there was no handshake at first. When McNally walked away she was mouthing something like 'fucking bitch'
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 18, 2021 12:02 PM |
Isn't McNally a MAGA darling?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 18, 2021 12:32 PM |

Maybe Thiem can get some therapy along with Osaka.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 18, 2021 2:19 PM |
Maybe being worked like a dog by his coach since childhood wasn’t the best idea. He accomplished what many haven’t/won’t (albeit with an asterisk by it) and hasn’t seemed the same since. He’s probably burned out mentally and physically…
Also, probably doesn’t want to lose first round at the USO after winning it.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 18, 2021 2:25 PM |
Thiem's alleged injury in Mallorca was so lame that Mannarino rolled his eyes when Dominic defaulted to him.

by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 18, 2021 6:48 PM |
R53, this is just the Cincinnati Open. No one cares about it. Coco 🐐 is focusing on the USA Open where she will destroy Tokyo just like King Kong did. Wait, was that King Kong or Godzilla? Anyway Coco is guaranteed to win the USA Open without dropping a set. She is a legend and already the 🐐
USA Open predictions 1/16: Coco bt Bianca 6/2, 6/1 1/8: Coco bt Tokyo 6/2 6/2 1/4: Coco bt Iga 6/0, 6/0 1/2: Coco bt Serena 6/4, 6/3 Champion: Coco 🐐 bt Barty 6/1, 6/0

Jesus, how embarrassing for Shapo. He just plays wild groundstrokes sometimes and racks up the errors. Imagine losing to Paire, who has barely been able to keep a ball in the court this year. I still love the blonde fur on his legs, tho.

I'm not posting a photo simply because the guy's such an arsehole.

That's a bizarre association, R63. Doocy is grotesque. Seb K reminds me of his dad, reinvented as a Valley Boy.

Korda looks like a blond version of a guy I used to work with who was an ass. I can't unsee it or break that association. I know what it's like, R63. Seb seems like a good guy though and is much better looking than his ugly-as-sin father.

So both DL faves Hubie and Young Grigor are still in?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 19, 2021 5:27 AM |
Watching Hubie against Misery was truly a Beauty and the Beast match up. Not to mention the cunt Misery doing the exaggerated moaning and grunting after every shot. It's clearly a distraction tactic and blatant gamesmanship masquerading as effort. Bitch trying to pretend it takes that much effort to hit a slice backhand.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 19, 2021 6:26 AM |

I really like Daniil. Besides being great at tennis, he is cute and very personable. He has FAR more personality than any of the big three. He is a natural smiler and has very relaxed body language in interviews. He should be more popular here. I don't care if he flipped off the crowd in New York or yelled at a ball kid once.

Tsitsipas reiterated that he won't take the COVID vaccine unless the tour mandates it. He says he's young and healthy and therfore does not need it. The Greek government then criticized him, calling his views ignorant.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | August 20, 2021 2:19 AM |
clearly another dumb right winger...sigh but not surprising. It seems most of the white players are regardless of country
by Anonymous | reply 109 | August 20, 2021 2:27 AM |
Tsitsipas also said he would rather get the virus naturally and achieve immunity that way rather than through the vaccine.
Cincy has vaccinations on site - on Instagram I've seen Nishioka and Thiago Monteiro get vaccinated there. Plenty of other players like Sabalenka and Rublev also said they will definitely not be getting vaccinated.

Is this supported by any data? For example, can it be shown that Federer, Thiem, Nadal, Berretini, etc. who are all from different countries have not been vaccinated? I think we know or highly suspect Djokovic, Tsitspas, and likely several American players are not vaccinated, but is it "most"?

Federer said he was vaccinated months ago.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | August 20, 2021 2:59 AM |
R109 I wasn't saying every right winger is anti-vax as some of them support vaccines. My comment was in general it seems the majority of white tennis players from around the world are right wingers so from time to time will express ignorant, problematic views. Obviously some are dumber than others. Some of them might not take the right wing stance on every issue.

Europe: Medvedev Tsitsipas Zverev, Rublev, Berrettini, Ruud
World: Schwartzman, Shapovalov, FAA, Opelka, Isner Kyrgios
will be in Boston Sept 24-26
first time without any big 3
by Anonymous | reply 121 | August 20, 2021 3:37 AM |
Not understanding how Medvedev and his punchable face get a pass on here: Sneering at the Olympics press who dared question Russia's integrity. Flipping off the crowd and scaring the hell out of ballboys at the USO. Throwing coins at Jewish umpires. Challenging Tsitsipas to a fight. Hitting the umpire's chair when he doesn't like getting a well-deserved code violation. Ranting, berating and yelling at his coach so much that he leaves the stadium. Kyrgios, Zverev and Djokovic would (justifiably) get slaughtered on here for that kind of stuff.

I get that, too, R124, just like Connors, Nastase and McEnroe had their fans back in the day. They like that sort of entertainment. Some people like Spam and Velveeta too.

Med is an asshole, but he has charisma. Not enough to compensate, in my opinion. But sometimes, enough to forget what a huge asshole he is.
Disappointed in how dumb Titsy is. In his plastered-down outfit, he looks like a superhero. Great from beneath the cranium, I guess.
Happy for FAA!

Rotcher is such an es-hole.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | August 20, 2021 4:09 AM |
That Laver Cup roster is so fascinating. Opelka! My goodness, how cool for him.
I'm thinking there are two key guys to watch: Shapo and Tsitsy. Shapo has to get his wild groundstrokes under control, esp when he gets pumped up (and nervous). And Tsitsy is so emotional, he's got to keep his head on straight.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | August 20, 2021 4:16 AM |
It'd be more entertainng if the Laver Cup set teams based on level of assholery. FAA, Diego and Opelka could switch over to Borg's Good Guys team, trading places with Zverev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas, who'd be part of McEnroe's Douchebag team.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | August 20, 2021 4:25 AM |
Kyrgios loves the format of Laver Cup and he is obsessed with the Celtics so no surprise he wanted to go to Boston. Surely he'll make a pilgrimage to visit where the Celtics play and practice
Berrettini will likely get some support from local Boston Italians

[quote] Kyrgios loves the format of Laver Cup
Why do you think that is?

R130, that's a brilliant idea.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | August 20, 2021 4:31 AM |
R132 he loves the team atmosphere, the fun aspect of it in that they can call out to each other and there aren't all the same rules as a regular match. Kyrgios is also an entertainer and he can put on his exhibition skills freely. He really seems to be more about entertaining, having fun rather than trying to win titles which is a shame given his obvious enormous talent

Some ticket cost as high as 1200$ and higher

Stan the Man at R128, what about Meerkat Federer? You get along very well with her, don't you? 👿 👿 I think she wants you because her Rotcher is too busy preening and telling himself "You are the greatest, most iconic tennis player ever" to pay her any attention.

Nadal out for the rest of the season. I think we're now officially in transition to the next era in men's tennis. Possibly a year or so of 'The Big One' until a new competitive order emerges.

PS, Stefanos is a good looking guy and an exciting player, but he’s a blooming idiot and by his example he is causing harm and death- literally. Covid vaccines are harmless, effective and the only answer to the pandemic and returning to normal business.
Frankly I was stunned by his position. I know Novak’s family and wife are off the beam- I guess the same is true of Stefanos- makes me admire the class and good examples of Fed, Nadal and their support systems and families even more.

by Anonymous | reply 155 | August 20, 2021 1:15 PM |
We have a real wing nut on this thread. R152’s post is nonsense. Both vaccines work by creating humoral (learned) immunity- classic medicine using a benign facsimile of Covid . Such immunity is different from inmate immunity which is how most bacterial infections are handled (neutrophils). Learned immunity is mediated by T cells which produce antibodies to the virus, hence the antibody test for exposure and infection. Quick and dirty explanation. NOT gene therapy at all.

Sorry to be hall monitor guys but this is gay and tennis thread.
Here we should only argue about whether a male tennis player is a bottom or not.( We already know most of male players are closet homosexuals.) And whether he has a nice asshole
There are too many other threads for vaccines argument.
by Anonymous | reply 161 | August 20, 2021 1:38 PM |
R158, I think you have unmasked yourself. 99.9% of hospital admissions right now are the unvaccinated. I am kept informed by my colleagues in major medical centers all over the nation. I was just on a Zoom meeting with half a dozen last night- in TX, CA, IL and NY. Yes a few who are vaccinated develop symptoms, usually mild. But that is true of almost all vaccines from flu to shingles. You are either very poorly informed or a troll. I hope you don’t get sick assuming you are taking your own very bad advice.
by Anonymous | reply 162 | August 20, 2021 1:41 PM |

Apologies for feeding the trolls, R161. One last aside: news flash, R160, this is a thread in English for those who are fluent enough in English to communicate effectively. I work for a large hospital group and speak from experience as welll. The COVID casualty rate far exceeds the detriments of the vaccine. Mais c'est inutile quand on parler avec un imbécile.
Back to the thread content: On teams FAA, PCB, Rublev, Ruud, Barty, Badosa, Kvitova and Bencic to make it to the semis.

And they spread covid to others , everywhere. and you blame me for risking you friends live? And now vaccinated people can spread covid with blessing because government lets do so.

I wasn't really paying attention, besides she was talking with her mouth full of food and with that strange foreign accent of hers, so I didn't really understand everything she told me. Something about trying to win Rog back and convince him to go to bed with her and how that would only work if she used my dildo.
Now that I think about it I did find it a bit strange when she kept asking me if she could tell her so-called husband where that dildo has been before. Something about how excited he would get. Strange people, those Continental types.

Pliskova has definitely become 1 of the luckiest players on tour, often avoiding players in early rounds who trouble her or getting injured opponents.

[quote] Medvedev ran into the camera in the second set, hurting his hand. Never seen that before. of course he kicked the camera after as if he didn't know it was there when he ran into it and it's the camera's fault for always being in that spot
Didn't Medvedev make the ball boys move an unused camera a couple of days ago, too?

He does look somewhat Nadal like.

Rublev is superstitious about what he eats when he wins. The first day in Cincinnati he had a fried egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. Since he's kept winning, he's had that every morning and will again before the final
by Anonymous | reply 253 | August 21, 2021 7:52 PM |
Med threatening to sue? Is he taking the "When in America...." part too seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 254 | August 21, 2021 7:56 PM |
Genie basically retired after she got that massive settlement from the USTA for knocking her head coming out of a hot tub at the US Open.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | August 21, 2021 8:01 PM |
How many settlements has the USTA paid out? Didn't Zena Garrison also sue them for racism and get a settlement?
by Anonymous | reply 256 | August 21, 2021 8:10 PM |
On what grounds would Medvedev sue? Obstruction of Assholery?
by Anonymous | reply 257 | August 21, 2021 8:19 PM |
Barty will comfortably beat Teichmann or Pliskova. She is playing so solid right now.
by Anonymous | reply 258 | August 21, 2021 8:29 PM |
My curiosity is killing me - I wonder what’s up with Nacho’s neck. He had a huge bandage and every tournament it gets smaller - but still bandaged. Unsolved Mysteries…
Changing the subject - my jinx worked! Rublev won and all I had to do is say that Med would win. Come on Zverev!

Yay Andrey! Glad for him.

I'm with Daniil on this. Move those fucking cameras. Goffin's career is basically ruined by those placards in France or wherever. Enough is enough.
Rublev is cute in an odd way. Have we seen shirtless yet? Is he hairy?
by Anonymous | reply 262 | August 21, 2021 9:14 PM |
Rublev looks like he's on the spectrum.

Teichmann def. Pliskova 6-2 6-4
so Teichmann has now defeated Osaka, Bencic and Pliskova in the same tournament. That is crazy. When I first saw her play a few years ago I thought she'd be a clay specialist given her super spinny forehand
by Anonymous | reply 266 | August 21, 2021 9:34 PM |
She's on fire. I'm sure she's got SO much confidence now. But Ash is a really tough out right now. Hope it's a good match!

Whoa. Zverev accused Tsitsipas of getting illegal coaching via cell phone during his “bathroom breaks.”
by Anonymous | reply 270 | August 21, 2021 11:00 PM |
DRAMA!!!!!!!
I was only half listening but after Zverev took the first set, Tsitsipas went the bathroom. I think Zverev spoke to the umpire in angry fashion basically accusing Tsitsipas of bringing his phone into the bathroom to text with his father for illegal coaching.
by Anonymous | reply 271 | August 21, 2021 11:01 PM |
the best part while Zverev was arguing with the umpire, the camera panned to Tsitsipas' father and sure enough, he was texting a lot lol
by Anonymous | reply 272 | August 21, 2021 11:03 PM |
not a fan of Zverev but if this accusation is true, and it seems quite likely, then Tsitsipas and his father are real dicks.

by Anonymous | reply 275 | August 21, 2021 11:06 PM |
They replayed the clip-Zverev accused Tsitsipas of doing this at every tournament!
I can't wait for the handshake. I hope they exchange words. I also hope they play again soon this year, though preferably not in finals as I don't want either to win
by Anonymous | reply 276 | August 21, 2021 11:07 PM |
We know Tsitsipas considers himself a philosopher. I'd like for a snarky reporter to ask him in a press conference what's the philosophy of texting with daddy in the men's changing room? Then again maybe he'd answer it's the Spartan mindset of winning at all costs
by Anonymous | reply 277 | August 21, 2021 11:08 PM |
A. Zverev team or Tsitsy team?
by Anonymous | reply 278 | August 21, 2021 11:13 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 279 | August 21, 2021 11:14 PM |
I was hoping this could go 3 sets. I want more drama
Davenport just channeled all of us: "I'm just here for the handshake"
the commentators don't think Tsitsipas is aware of what happened while he was in the bathroom

by Anonymous | reply 325 | August 22, 2021 1:13 AM |
Definitely a head-to-head rivalry for the future.
I can't get over how well Daniil plays on hardcourts, wow. Def a threat to Novak at the Open. I'm rooting for Novak--the calendar Slam would be so neat! I never thought I'd see it in my lifetime, esp among the men. But these guys are so good.
Zverev has had a very good year, he's been playing really well. I think he wins easily tomorrow.
Now I'm curious who gets seeded in Novak's quarter and half.
by Anonymous | reply 326 | August 22, 2021 1:18 AM |
A. Zverev basically saying that Tsitsy is a cheater and that he never cheats. He just beats. (Credit to R308)
[quote] I never take a medical timeout when I don't need it. I never go to the bathroom when I don't need it. I always try to play as fairly as possible and by the rules. Some people use it for their advantage. I mean the rules are you know very bendable I would say. Sooooo yeah. I was a little bit frustrated because it did happen at the French Open already before the fifth set. It did happen in Acapulco as well. So it was a little bit of frustration, but it's all good. At the end of the day we're two competitors and you know we're trying to beat each other.

was rooting for tsitsipas (nice shapely pert ass he has on him) but when he took that damn ridiculous bathroom break and YET AGAIN alleged coaching and cheating, that turned me off of him and perhaps forever....
one thing i always always admired about chris evert, that NOT ONCE did she ever look to her husbands/boyfriends/ mother/father/ coach for help in the stands.. NEVER! she herself stated that she felt it was a sign of weakness and that no one can help you/her on the court, she has to figure it out herself!" totally agree, it makes players' today both men and women look like children when they do this! pleading, yelling, making faces, in tears looking at their box at their coaches, friends, loved ones, whoever....I personally would be EMBARRASSED if i was a grown adult professional athlete doing this!...
