From all accounts I've ever seen, though Liza was on her mother's TV show at the beginning, had little to no help from her parents in trying to establish her career in New York. (Neither of her parents even paid for her first wedding, to Peter Allen - though they attended.) I don't think Judy was in much of a position to help her, she had no power at that point, and Vincente didn't cast her in anything (she was in his last movie, in the mid-70s, when she was an established star). The parts she got in movies at the beginning weren't favors to anyone as far as I know. Though I guess it helps to have a famous name.

* Liza reportedly slept on park benches, and crashed on people's couches, when she was trying to make it in NYC, in the 60s, and apparently some people got tired of putting her up. So - not exactly getting a free ride based on her parents' fame.
